John Jolley Sr. and his wife and five sons are mentioned in the book "The Jolley Family Book", originally produced in 1966 by Bryant Manning Jolley and subsequently edited and republished by Ronald Lynn Jolley as a 2nd edition in 2005 (FHL Book #: 929.273, J683jo. 2005), which states the following: "John Jolley, Sr. abt 1762/1765 wife Louisa Bryan abt 1769 - 5 sons Frederick Jolley abt 1783, Jesse Jolley abt 1785, Hansel Bryan Jolley abt 1787, Henry Jolley b 26 Aug 1789, and John Jolley Jr. abt 1791."
Family sources state the following: "In 1796, John [Jolley Sr.] deeded all his properites to his wife, Martha and his five sons. We assume that he died about that same time."
