Thomas Jolliffe

"Thomas Joliffe" is listed in the "Pedigree of Brough, of Windyyates" in the book "The History of the Ancient Parish of Leek", by John Sleigh, 1883, p.119. Also, the "Pedigree of Jolliffe of Leek" is listed on page 35 in the same book.

In 1647, "Thomas Jolley" was listed as being of "Lockwood", Staffordshire. According to his marriage record to Sarah Buckley in Ipstones in 1647, Thomas Jolley was of "Lockwood", Staffordshire. (See: FHL Film # 1471000, Item #19.) In the 1600's, "Lockwood" may have been located near present-day "Lockwood Road"--which is about two miles south of Ipstones near Kingsley Holt.

In 1659, "Thomas Jolly" is described as a "Gentleman" in his marriage to his second wife, Sarah Brough. This marriage is listed in the parish register of Leek (FHL Book # 942.46, B4pr, Vol.13, p.139), which states that they were married on 19 October 1659 as "Tho. Jolly, of the Milst., Gentleman, and Sarah Brough, of the Wyneyards".

Sarah Brough

The christening of Sarah Brough is listed in the parish register of Leek (FHL Book # 942.46, B4pr, Vol.13, p.3), which states that she was christened on 19 April 1625 as "Sarah f. Tho. Brough, of Wynigates, bapt".

Information on Sarah Brough was obtained from the 1988 RBFO book, p.68, and from information provided to the RBFO between 1995-2000 by Catharine Ann Brough Hind of England.

Sarah Jolly

The christening of Sarah Jolly is listed in the parish register of Leek (FHL Book # 942.46, B4pr, Vol.13, p.146), which states that she was christened on 21 August 1662 as "Sarah f. Tho. Jolly, of Milst., bap.".


Edward Jolly

The christening of Edward Jolly is listed in the parish register of Leek (FHL Book # 942.46, B4pr, Vol.13, p.1638), which states that he was christened on 27 October 1665 as "Ed. f. Tho. Jolly, of Milst., bap.".


Margarett Joylly

The christening of Margarett Joylly is listed in the IGI (via the LDS Extraction Program, FHL Film # 873650, Item #4, Book), which lists her parents as "Thomas Joylly" and "Sara".


Thomas Jolliffe

"Thomas Joliffe" is listed in the "Pedigree of Brough, of Windyyates" in the book "The History of the Ancient Parish of Leek", by John Sleigh, 1883, p.119. Also, the "Pedigree of Jolliffe of Leek" is listed on page 35 in the same book.

According to the 1647 marriage record of "Sarah Buckley" and "Thomas Jolley", Sarah Buckley was of "Stanlowe".

The burial of Sarah (Brough) is listed in the parish register of Leek (FHL Book # 942.46, B4pr, Vol.13, p.128), which states that she was buried on 23 September 1657 as "Sarah, wife of Thos. Jolly of Milstreet".


William Jolley

Thos. and Sarah Jolly, of the Milstreet, bap". However, the "filmed" parish register for Leek (FHL Film # 1040765, Item #7), shows that the christening of Anne Jolly actually took place on 19 September 1657.
