In October 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Ernest Alfred Osmond from England, which stated that he was born on 22 November 1874 at Hayne Barton, Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, and that his parents were John Gregory Osmond (a Farmer) and Amy Benmore Osmond "formerly Pentecost".

Charles Henry Osmond

In September 2010, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Charles Henry Osmond from England, which stated that he was born on 16 August 1859 at: 14 Richmond Terrace, Exeter (Devonshire), and that his father was James Francis Osmond, a General Merchant, and that his mother was Elizabeth Osmond "formerly Frean".

In the 1861 Census, Charles H. Osmond is listed as being about 1 year old (born about 1860), born in Exeter, Devonshire, and residing with his parents, James F. and Elizabeth Osmond, in St. David, Exeter, Devonshire, England.

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of Charles Henry Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he died of "Carcinoma of the Stomach" on 20 October 1937 at 12 St. Stephens Avenue, Parnell, Auckland, that he was buried or cremated on 21 October 1937 in Waikaraka, that he was about 80 years old when he died (born about 1857), that he was born in England and had lived in New Zealand for about 60 years (immigrated about 1877), that he had married Phoebe Jessie Jervis and Ethel Maslin (age 59), and that he had one daughter who was 45 years old at the time of his death, and one son who was 50 years old at the time of his death.

James Ingram Osmond

In September 2010, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of James Ingram Osmond from England, which stated that he was born on 19 December 1879 at: No.16, College Park, Exeter (in Devonshire), and that his father was John Gregory Osmond, a Retired Farmer, and that his mother was Amy Benmore Osmond "formerly Pentecost".

Research Note: On 2 July 1975, Miss. Roie Osmond of Auckland, New Zealand, wrote a letter to Olive Osmond of Utah, which letter stated: "My father James Ingram Osmond grew up in Auckland and went to the [Second] Boer War [that took place during 1899-1902 in South Africa] and returned and married, and he died on 17 May 1931 aged 52."


Eva Gertrude Mason

Research Note: On 2 July 1975, Miss. Roie Osmond of Auckland, New Zealand, wrote a letter to Olive Osmond of Utah, which letter stated: My mother Eva Gertrude Osmond died on 27 January 1969 aged 86-1/2".

John Gregory Osmond

The christening of John Gregory Osmond is listed in New Family Search.

In the 1861 Census, John Gregory Osmond is listed as being about 32 years old (born about 1829), born in Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, a "Farmer [of] 260 acres [with] 8 labourers and 3 boys", and residing with his wife, Emma, in Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, England.

In the 1871 Census, "John G. Osmond" is listed as being about 42 years old (born about 1829), born in Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, a "Widower" who was "Farming 300 acres, employing seven labourers and one boy", and living with three of his children and several servants at: Hayne Barton, Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire.

The English birth certificates of his first three children lists John Gregory Osmond as either a "Farmer" or "Gentleman".

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of John Gregory Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he was died on 18 August 1888 at the age of about 59 years at Russell Street & Ponsonby in Auckland from ""deranged intellect - 2 years", that he was buried or cremated on 20 August 1888 in Waikumete, that his father was Edward Osmond and his mother was Sarah Rew, that he had lived for 9 years in New Zealand before he died (or arrived in New Zealand in about 1879), and that he was 35 years old when he married Harriet (or Harrich) Poole.

The death of John Gregory Osmond is listed in the on-line New Zealand BMD, which states that his death was registered in 1888 when he was 59 years old (born about 1829).

Based on the birth dates and places of his two sons, Gregory Benmore Osmond and Herbert John Osmond, it appears that John Gregory Osmond and his wife, Amy Benmore Pentecost, emigrated from England to New Zealand sometime between 1877--when Mary Edith Osmond was born in England, and 1881--when Herbert was born in New Zealand.

There were five children of this...marriage and my grandparents and their five children came to New Zealand - 1890/1891 [but should be 1880-1881], when my father [James Ingram Osmond] was about 2 years old, and settled in Auckland. John Gregory Osmond died in Auckland on 19 July 1888 [but his death certificate states that he died on 10 August 1888], aged 59. Amy Benmore Osmond died in Auckland on 13 June 1920 aged 72."


Amy Benmore Pentecost

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Amy Benmore Pentecost from England, which stated that she was born on 23 May 1849 in Harcroft, Kenton (near Exeter), Devonshire, England, and that her father was John Pentecost, a Painter, and that her mother was Elizabeth Pentecost "formerly Benmore".

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of Amy Benmore Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that she was died on 13 June 1920 at the age of about 71 years at Auckland Hospital from "Influenza and pneumonia" and "cardiac failure", and that she was a "Widow" when she died, that her husband had been John Gregory Osmond, that they had married when she was about 23 years old in Exmouth, England, and that she had lived in New Zealand for about 40 years prior to her death (or had arrived in New Zealand in about 1880).

The death of Amy Benmore Osmond is listed in the on-line New Zealand BMD, which states that her death was registered in 1920 when she was 71 years old (born about 1849).


Harold Percival Osmond

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Harold Percival Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he was born on 22 November 1886 at Rata Street Ponsonby, Auckland; and that his father was John Gregory Osmond, age 57 years who was born in Devonshire, England, and that his mother was Amy Benmore Pentecost, age 37 years who was born in Devonshire, England.

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of Harold Percival Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he died on 2 March 1887 of "General Debility" at Rata Street Ponsonby, Auckland, when he was about "14 weeks" old when he died, and that he was buried or cremated on 4 March 1887 in Waikumete, Auckland, and that his father was John Gregory Osmond, and that his mother was Amy Benmore Pentecoste.

In October 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Mary Edith Osmond from England, which stated that she was born on 6 January 1877 at Spestos Grange, Bow, Devonshire, and that her parents were John Gregory Osmond (a Gentleman) and Amy Benmore Osmond "formerly Pentecost".

In the 1861 Census, Emma (Osmond) is listed as being about 28 years old (born about 1833), born in Broad Clyst, Devonshire, and residing with her husband, John Gregory Osmond, in Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, England.

In September 2010, the Osmond Family Organization obtained the death certificate of Emma Osmond from England, which stated that she died from "Phthisis" on 3 June 1862 at the age of 29 years (born about 1833) at Hayne Burton, Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, and that she was the "Wife of John Gregory Osmond [a] Yeoman".

Charles Osmond

The birth of Charles Osmond possibly took place in about 1870. On 2 July 1975, Miss. Roie Osmond of Auckland, New Zealand, wrote a letter to Olive Osmond of Utah, which letter stated: "My grandfather John Gregory Osmond, 1829-1888...[had a] younger son named Charles Osmond, [who] came some years later to New Zealand and saw my father [James Ingram Osmond], but returned to England and died there, date unknown. We think he would have been then about 35 years old."


Gregory Benmore Osmond

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Gregory Benmore Osmond from England, which stated that he was born on 24 February 1873 in Hayne Barton Newton St. Cyres, Devonshire, and that this father was John Gregory Osmond, a Farmer, and that his mother was Amy Bemore Osmond "formerly Pentecost".

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of Gregory Benmore Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he died of "Cerebral Thrombosis" when he was about 83 years old on 5 September 1956 at 5 Edgerley Avenue, Epsom, Auckland, that he was "cremated on 6 September 1956 at Waikumete, that he was an "Estate Agent" and had lived in New Zealand for 78 years (arriving in about 1778), that his parents were John Gregory Osmond and Amy Benmore Pentecost, and that he had married Margaret Adam Sims (who was 85 years of age in 1956) in Auckland when he was about 23 years old (or in about 1896).

Margaret Adam Sims

In October 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Margaret Adam Sims from New Zealand, which stated that she was born on 21 November 1870 in North Shore, Auckland, North Island, New Zealand, and that her parents were John Adam Sims and Hannah Matilda Berry.

Douglas Stuart Osmond

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Douglas Stuart Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that he was born on 22 February 1902 in Ponsonby, and that his parents were Gregory Benmore Osmond (age 30 and born in Devonshire, England) and Margaret Adam Sims (age 30 and born in Auckland, New Zealand).

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Elsie Doreen Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that she was born on 2 December 1905 in Russell Street, Ponsonby, and that her parents were Gregory Benmore Osmond (32 years old and born in Devonshire, England), and that her mother was Margaret Sims (34 years old and born in Devonport, New Zealand).

In September 2009, the Osmond Family Organization obtained a copy of the death certificate of Elsie Doreen Osmond from New Zealand, which stated that she died from "Acute Jaundice and Exhaustion" on 5 December 1905 in Ponsonby, that she was buried on 6 December 1905 in Purewa, and that her father was Gregory Benmore Osmond and her mother was Margaret Sims.

The death of this individual is listed in the on-line BDM Historical Records of New Zealand--which states that she died in 1905 when she was only "4 days" old.
