William came to America from Dublin, Ireland c.1720 with widowed mother, 2 brothers, 1 sister. William/Elizabeth were Quakers. The family brought the old Whitaker Bible over from England-printed March 2, 1606 & known as a Genevan "Britches" Bible. It shows signs of having been through the house fire of William/Elizabeth in Dec 1739. The Bible was inherited by some of William's children who passed it to Henry Whitaker in the early 1870s, who gave it to his oldest daughter Mariam Whitaker Garren. She gave it to her son Eli Garren who gave it to his son Henry Garren. He gave it to his adopted daughter Mrs. M. L. Kirstein whose family still has it.

Sir George Smithson's will is printed in this book. Also THOMAS SMITHSON is listed in here as George's son, but death date is 1699, and no wife or children are listed for him, leading to the question.....is this Thomas Smithson our Thomas Smithson? Some places say yes, some say no. We shall have to wait until more documentation shows up.
