William Osmond

The marriage of "William Osmond" and "Frances Rydout" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 1239203, Item #5), which states that they were married in 1709 in Lillington, Dorset.  However, in February 2017, a careful review of this marriage record determined that "William Osmond" who was "of Lillington" and "Frances Rydout" who was "of Serborn" [Sherborne] were married on 18 June 1710.

Research Note: The shown relationship of this individual to his parents is based on guesstimates derived from durations, locations and/or patronymics.  Further research needs to be conducted to determine whether this relationship is valid or erroneous.

The marriage of "Willm. White" and "Magdaline Halliday" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91083), which states that they were married on 19 December 1647 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England.

"William White" is listed in the christening of his two sons, as follows: 1) The christening of "William White" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91083), which states that he was christened on 10 September 1654 in Bishopwearmouth, and that his father was "Wiliam White"; and 2) The christening of "Thomas White" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91083), which states that he was christened on 26 July 1657 in Bishopwearmouth, and that his father was "Wiliame White".

The burial of "William White" is listed in the "National Burial Index for England & Wales Transcription" (via online FindMyPast), which state that he was buried on 9 July 1656 at St. Michael & All Angels, Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England.

Research Note:  "William White" was born about 1622 and had at least two sons (William and Thomas) who were both christened in Bishopwearmouth, Durham.  This William (b.abt.1622) may have been the son of another "William White" who was christened in 1595 in Bishopwearmouth.  Further research into this possibility is ongoing.


Magdaline Halliday

The christening of "Magdalen Halliday" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91083), which states that she was christened on 21 March 1624 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, and that her father was "George Halliday".

"Mr. White" was "of" Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England, as his two probable children were christened in Bishopwearmouth, as follows:
1) The christening of "Annas Whyte" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91082), which states that she was christened on 3 October 1591 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England, and that she was of "Wer" (Weremouth); 2) The christening of "Willia [William] White" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91082), which states that he was christened on 12 January 1594/1595 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England, and that he was of "Wer" (Weremouth).


Annas Whyte

The christening of "Annas Whyte" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Film # 91082), which states that she was christened on 3 October 1591 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England, and that she was of "Wer" (Weremouth).


Robert Osmonde

"Robert Osmonde" (born about 1471) is mentioned eight times between 1501 and 1518 in the civil records of Burford, Oxfordshire--which are available in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920).  Robert Osmonde's surname is recorded in the civil records and book as: Osmonde (3 times), Osmond (2 times), Osmunde (1 time),  Osmund (1 time), and Osemonde (1 time).  

"Robert Osmunde" is listed in "1501" as having "lands...on the west" near the "churche land" of Burford in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 674).

"Robert Osmond" is listed in "1502" as being one of six individuals who was given a "Conveyance [of] two messuages in Burford, one near the inn called the 'Bere', and the other in Witney Street near a messuage lately of Thomas Pole" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 319).

"Robert Osmonde" is listed in "1507" as being a "Witness" of a "Conveyance" of "Unum hospicium vocatum le Crowne with appurtenances, in the High Street of Burford" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, pages 423-424).

"Robert Osmonde" is listed in "1508" as being a "Witness" of a "Conveyance" of "Lands and tenements" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 320).  

"Robert Osmond" is listed in "1513" as being a "Witness" of a "Conveyance" of "Two messuages, one close with dovecote, one cottage called the Woolhouse with twenty acres of arable land in the fields of Burford, and one close in Fulbrok called Houndmylles with its appurtenances" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, pages 336-337).

"Robert Osmund" is listed in "1516" as being a "Witness" of a "Conveyance" of "Two tenements with appurtenances in...Burford" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 439).

"Robert Osmonde" is listed in "1516" as being a "Bailiff" of Burford in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 96), which states the following: "From this date [1508] till the year 1587 the dates given are the years in which the Bailiffs took office, in September of each year.  It is therefore to be remembered that they were in office during the greater part of the year following. ...1516: Robert Osmonde".

"Robert Osemonde" is listed in "1518" as being a "Bailiff" of Burford in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 440).


Johanne Osmonde

"Johanne Osmonde" is listed in 1524 in the "Lay Subsidies" of "Burford for goods and londs [lands] subsidum" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 599).  Note: Lay subsidies were taxes for a specific purpose--such as monies used to support a foreign war.

"Johanne Osmonde" is listed in 1525 in the "Lay Subsidies" of "The township of Burford" in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R. H. Gretton, 1920, page 601).  Note: Lay subsidies were taxes for a specific purpose--such as monies used to support a foreign war.


John Osmund

The given name of the grandfather of John Osmund (1575-1633) of Burford, Oxfordshire, may have been "John" or "Johanne", as this name was prominent in the patronymics of the early Osmonds of Burford.  Unfortunately, this individual is not listed in the book "The Burford Records, a Study in Minor Town Government" (by R.H. Gretton, 1920).


George Boothe

The christening of "George Boothe" is listed in the parish register of St. Leonard, Middleton, Lancashire (FHL Book #: 942.72, K29pr, Vol.12), which states that he was christened on 1 October 1648 in Middleton and that her father was "Jon [John] Boothe".

The burial of "George Booth of Boarshaw" is listed in the parish register of St. Leonard, Middleton, Lancashire (FHL Book #: 942.72, K29pr, Vol.18), which states that he was buried on 12 October 1709 in Middleton.
