Obituary on Yvonne Osmond (https://necrocanada.com/deces/yvonne-osmond/amp/)
Yvonne “Bonnie” (Burr) Osmond passed peacefully from this earthly life on the evening of Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Coaldale Health Center, age 81. Yvonne was born May 10, 1930 in Raymond, Alberta, the fifth child of ten children born to Henry Orral Burr and Emma Angelina Nalder (both deceased). Her siblings include: Aileen Boulton and Wayne Burr (both deceased), Clair Burr, Angie Bohner, Evelyn Wilmot, Eva Rath, Carolyn Komos, Larry Burr, and Shirley Davies. She enjoyed 45 beautiful years of marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Harold Reginald Osmond before his passing in March 1997. She often commented how she wished to be with him and ask for advice. Together they had four children, 14 grandchildren: Reg – Lindsey (Jerrod) Barrows, Rachelle (Dustin) Ririe, Shara and Darcy; Darrel (Linda) – Justine (Jarom) Scott, Steven, Daniel, Ben (Ashley), Emma; Lorne (Kris) – Brianna, Michele; Marlene (Ken) Lingren – Eric, Curtis, Niklas; 6 great grandchildren: Hyrum, Katelyn, Esther, Elisabeth, Jaxon, and Kaitlyn. Bonnie attended rural school in Raymond until 1937 then moved to her grandfather’s farm in the White School District. She graduated from McNally High School in 1948. Bonnie had an amazing work ethic. She began employment with the Bank of Montreal before marriage until her retirement in 1989. She also worked with her family on the dairy farm. Even in her eighties, she was raising sheep. Her life was one of service. She was involved in many community organizations, schools and attended numerous baseball, hockey games and figure skating carnivals. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Everyone was welcome in her home, and often given a great meal along with a hug. She served and lived faithfully as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served as a Young Women Advisor, Children’s Primary president or teacher. Other callings were pianist, organist, and more than 18 years service in Family History. She said, “The church has been the single most important influence in my life, in the way I have tried to raise my family, and deal with my friends and neighbours.” Her legacy lives on through us and the lessons that she taught. Let us never forget “that everything we do should have an eternal perspective” and life is a series of challenges. Let us choose to be happy, as she so graciously showed us. Thank you, sweet mother, for teaching us with courage and dignity the meaning of enduring to the end. You were truly an Angel on Earth. You will be greatly missed! The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, COALDALE CHAPEL, 2216-21 A Avenue, Coaldale, with Bishop Les Gugyelka officiating.
