The christening of "Lot Stokes" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Films # 2427574 and 123945 Item #1), which states that he was christened on 19 August 1759 in Stoke Gaylard, Dorset, England, and that his parents were "Edward Stokes" and "Jane".

Relationship Note:  Lot Stokes--or one of his brothers--may have been the father of Joseph Osment (1779-1863) who was christened as the son of Mary Osment on 27 September 1779 in Nether Compton, Dorset, England.  There are several reasons for this: 1) In 2018 a 3rd great-grandson of Joseph Osment took a Y-DNA test which showed that he had multiple 4th-to-7th cousins whose surname was Stokes.  Additional autosomal DNA tests by a female descendant of Joseph Osment also showed genetic relationships to cousins whose surname was Stokes.  2) During the mid-1700's, when Mary Osment (Osmont) was christened on 20 September 1753 in Purse Caundle, Dorset, the family of Edward Stokes and Jane Baker were living in Stoke Gaylard, Dorset--which is only about five travel miles from Purse Caundle and about eleven travel miles from Nether Compton.  3) The fourth son and fifth child of Edward Stokes and Jane Baker was Lot Stokes, who was christened on 19 August 1759 in Stoke Gaylard, Dorset.  Lot Stokes apparently never married and was buried on 18 June 1820 in Fefehead Neville, Dorset.  Lot's other brothers were married in Dorset.  4) Based on the above information, along with durational, patronymic and radius analysis, it's possible that Lot Stokes--or one of his brothers--may have been the father of Joseph Osment (1779-1863).

Geographical Note:  The travel distance between Lillington--where Joseph Osmont was christened in 1723, and Caundle--where his daughter, Mary Osmont, was christened in 1753, is only about six miles.
