Thomas Crossby

The christening of "Thomas Crossby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that he was christened on 11 February 1749/1750 and that he was the son of "Tho. Crossby" of "Pelton".


Isabell Holborn

Isabell Holborn was reportedly 64 years old at the time of her death in 1809.  There are no entires on the Easington FHL Film # 90784 between March 18 and April 8, 1745.  Could she have been born during this time?


Marriage Notes for Thomas Crossby and Isabell Holborn-177

The Easington Parish Record, FHL Film # 90784 (page 178), states that this couple was married by Banns and reads that on 14 May 1771: "Thomas Crosby in the P. of Bpp Middleham and Isabel Holburne of this p." (A previous source had suggested that Thomas Crosby and Isabell Holborn were married on 16 May 1771 at Easington, Durham, England.)


Mary Crosby

Mary Crosby was mentioned as "workhouse aged 70 years."


Thomas Crosby

The christening of "Tho. Crosby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that he was christened on 12 January 1723/1724 and that he was the son of "Tho. Crosby" of "the Flatts".

Ann Aughton

The christening of "Ann Aughton" is listed in the IGI (via the LDS Extraction Program, FHL Film # 91090), which states that she was christened on 6 December 1724 in Chester Le Street, Durham, and that her father was "James Aughton".

The marriage of "Thomas Crossby" and "Ann Aughton" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #3), which states that they were married on 26 November 1744 and that they were of the "Flats".


Mary Crossby

The christening of "Mary Crossby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that she was christened on 20 October 1745 and that she was the daughter of "Thomas Crossby" of "Chester".


William Crossby

The christening of "William Crossby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that he was christened on 22 November 1747 and that he was the son of "Thomas Crossby" of "Chester".


Mary Crossby

The christening of "Mary Crossby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that she was christened on 29 October 1752 and that she was the daughter of "Thomas Crossby" of "Pelton".


Lancelot Crossby

The christening of "Lancelot Crossby" is listed in the parish register of Chester Le Street, Durham (FHL Film # 91090, Item #2), which states that he was christened on 17 August 1755 and that he was the son of "Thomas Crossby" of "Pelton".


Jacob Houburn

Extracted marriage record of Easington, Durham Co., England, states Jacob's name was: Jacob Houburn.

All of the children of Jacob Houburn and Isabell Taylor, except for Isabell Holborn, can be found in the extracted christening record of Easington, Durham Co., England, FHL Film # 90784 or Printout # 453490.

Research Note:  Jacob Houburn may have been christened on 16 May 1702 in Eglingham, Northumberland, England, as the son of Mark Howbourn (of N. Bewicke).  More research needs to be conducted to confirm this possibility.  If Jacob is the son of Mark, this Mark also had another son named John (chr. 9 February 1705).   See Parish Register book of Eglingham, Northumberland, 1662-1812; FHL book # 942.8, B4dn, V.2, p.64.


Isabell Taylor

Extracted marriage record of Easington, Durham Co., England, states Isabel's name as: Isabell Taylor.  Her burial is listed in the Easington Parish Record as taking place on  5 Apr 1776: "Isable, wife of Jacob Holbourne."

James White

The christening of James White is listed in the parish register of Bishop Middleham, Durham (FHL Film # 1894208, Item #4), which states that he was christened on 14 September 1798 as the son of George and Isabel White.

The death of James White is listed in the Monumental Inscriptions of Bishop Middleham (#105), which was obtained by Kathryn Stout of Lancashire in April 2013 from the Cleveland FHS.  Also, in May 2013, a picture was taken of the existing gravestone of James White in St. Michael's churchyard in Bishop Middleham, County Durham, and the inscription on the gravestone reads as follows:   
"Sacred to the memory of Bridget wife of James White of Bp. Middleham who died May 27th 1840 aged 34 years.
"Also Henry Walker son of the above named who died Decr 5th 1839 aged 15 months.
"Also the above named James White who died June 27th 1849, aged 51 yrs."

The burial of James White is listed in FamilySearch (via FHL Film # 1894209, Item #1, page 78), which states that he was buried on 30 June 1849 at Bishop Middham Parish in Durham Co., England, and that he "51" years when he died (born about 1798), and that he was of "Ferryhill".

Research Note: In the 1841 Census, a James White is listed as being 40 years old (born about 1797-1801), born in Durham, working as a "Schoolmaster", and residing (with a 16 year old female servant--Margaret Wheatley) in Bishop Middleham, Durham.


Bridget Walker

The christening of Bridget Walker is listed in the parish register of Cockfield, Durham (FHL Film # 90788, Item #1), which states that she was christened on 8 December 1805 in Cockfield, Durham, and that her parents were Henry Walker and Bridget Clark.

The burial of Bridget (White) is listed in the parish reigster of Bishop Middleham, County Durham (FHL Film # 1894209, Item #1), which states that she was buried on 29 May 1840 in Bishop Middleham, and that she was "34 yrs" old when she died (born about 1806), and that she was of "Bishop Middleham".

The marriage of Jacob White and Mary Hall is listed in the parish register of Bishop Middleham, Durham (FHL Film # 1894208, Item #9), which staes that they were married by Banns on 22 April 1839 in Bishop Middleham; that Jacob White was of "full age" and a Bachelor and Husbandman of Bishop Middleham, and that his father was George White, a Labourer; and that Mary Hall was of "full age" and a Spinster of Bishop Middleham, and that her father was John Hall, a Pitman.  The marriage was witnessed by Thomas Neesham and John Wilson.


Marriage Notes for Joseph White and Mary Reynolds-1818

The marriage of Joseph White and Mary Reynolds is listed in the parish register of Bishop Middleham, Durham (FHL Film # 1894208, Item #8), which states that they were married by Banns on 11 March 1837 in Bishop Middleham; that they were both of "this Parish"; and that Mary Reynolds was married with "consent of [her] parents".  The marriage was witnessed by John Wilson.

Research Note:  Jacob Houburn may have been christened on 16 May 1702 in Eglingham, Northumberland, England, as the son of Mark Howbourn (of N. Bewicke).  More research needs to be conducted to confirm this possibility.  If Jacob is the son of Mark, this Mark also had another son named John (chr. 9 February 1705).   See Parish Register book of Eglingham, Northumberland, 1662-1812; FHL book # 942.8, B4dn, V.2, p.64.

The christening of "Mary Gibbin" is listed in the IGI (via the LDS Extraction Program, FHL Film # 91097), which states that she was christened on 16 April 1778 in Kirk Merrington, County Durham, and that her father was Thomas Gibbin.

Research Note:  New FamilySearch lists Mary Gibbin (PI#: KCTQ-WV5) as the daughter of Thomas Gibbon and Mary Wright, which could be wrong and needs to be checked.
