The following genealogical information comes from: http://www.lythgoes.net/genealogy/index.php: This story is from John's granddaughter, Judy Williams: "On the Lythgoe marker, John's birthdate is wrong. It really IS 1877, but when they ordered it Clara had a fit about the correct date. She said (and I quote:) 'If Jack wanted to be 2 years younger than he was, then he'll BE two years younger!! You'll put 1879 on that marker and that's the end of that!!' The funny part of that story is that my mom tells it and then says, 'It's a good thing she was too upset to notice the Death Certificate, because I put 1877 for his birthdate on that.' I didn't have the heart to tell Mom that the birthdate on it says 1877 all right, but the rest of it is '24 July', not 13 July. Poor grandpa, he is just a mass of misinformation on his certificates. His Priesthood Certificates say he was baptized in May 1885. I'm going to write for a copy of the baptismal one, but they may not have it. A lot of those were destroyed in a flood when they were stored in the basement of the Pioneer Museum, before computers. I recall him saying that he was nearly 10 when he was baptized and that would make 1887 more likely."
