Brough in May 2008.

In January 2010, Kathryn Stout, a professional genealogist in Lancashire, located the death and burial of Peggy (Booth) Lancashire in the parish records of St. Leonard, Middleton, Lancashire, which stated: "Peggy Lancashire wife of Josiah Lancashire of Middleton died 17th September & buried 21st September 1820 aged 35 yrs."  So Peggy (Booth) Lancashire was born about 1785.

Marriage Notes for Josiah Lancashire and Peggy Booth-1153

In January 2010, Kathryn Stout, a professional genealogist in Lancashire, located the marriage of Josiah Lancashire and Peggy Booth in the parish records of St. Leonard's, Middleton (No. 1337), which stated that the marriage took place by Banns on 21 October 1810, and that Josiah Lancashire was "of this parish" and a Weaver, and that Peggy Booth was "of this parish" and a Spinster.  They were married by William Lister, a Minister; Josiah wrote his name and Peggy made her mark; and the marriage was witnessed by John Lancashire and Ann (?) Emerson.

The christening of "John Booth" is listed in FamilySearch (FHL Films # 1545705, Item #4; and 1656073), which states that he was christened on 24 August 1684 in St. Mary, Oldham, Lancashire, and that his parents were "William Booth" and "Sara".

The marriage of John Booth and Marg[aret] Smith is listed in the parish record of St. Mary, Bury, Lancashire (FHL Film # 93677, Vol.3), which states that they were married on 15 April 1707 in St. Mary, Bury, and that they were "both of this parish".

Family Note:  John Booth and Margaret Smith may have had additional children.  However, there were two other John Booth's married after 1707 at St. Mary, Bury: 1) John Booth and Esther Bentley who were married on 22 October 1713; and 2) John Booth and Elizabeth Chaddock who were married on 9 February 1715.  Needless to say, it is difficult to determine from the limited information in the parish register which child belongs to which John Booth.

Research Note:
In February 2013, Kathryn Stout of Lancashire, England, stated the following: "At St. Mary's church in Bury there is a John Booth, the son of a Thomas Booth, who was born on 20 August 1679 and baptised on 24th August 1679.  However, I found a child of Thomas Booth who died 5th March 1680.  Could this child be John?  If so, we have come to a full stop as no more John Booth's were found between 1679-1686 at St. Mary's church in Bury.  In addition, as the Booth family were originally from Middleton, it is possible that John Booth was born in Middleton....  St. Leonard's church in Middleton does list the baptism of a John Booth, the son of George Booth, who was baptised on 22 October 1682...."
In December 2015, Booth family researchers determined that the John Booth, who was christened on 22 October 1682 in Middleton and who was the son of George Booth, was not the same John Booth who married Margaret Smith in 1707 in Bury and had children christened in Bury between 1708 and 1714.  The reason for this is because the John Booth of 1682 married an Elizabeth in about 1709 and had a son, also named John Booth, who was christened in 1710 and buried in 1712 in Middleton.
In April 2018, Booth family researchers determined--after extensive radius searches and comparisons of available records--that the John Booth who married Margaret Smith in 1707 in Bury was most likely the same John Booth who was christened on 27 December 1685 in Oldham, Lancashire, and whose father was William Booth.  Interestingly, John Booth's first son was also named William Booth.  The travel distance betwen between Bury and Oldham is about 12 miles.

A brass memorial to "George Clarke" is mentioned in the book "Memorial Brasses in Hertfordshire Churches", by William Frampton Andrews, 1903, page 37, which states that the following brass inscription appears in the Bennington church:
"George Clarke by will dated 8th October 1556, gave £2 10s. for the poor of this parish, and also other sums for the parishes of Sandridge and Stevenage in this county." (Online source: https://books.google.com/books?id=cMgOAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA37&lpg=PA37&dq=memorial+inscription+at+Benington,+Hertfordshire,+england&source=bl&ots=buYBZHmC7u&sig=lOEzwAGGGGaxMbxC8Bx05eMTevY&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjphuuzm5XOAhVQxWMKHZlCDlMQ6AEIXzAM#v=onepage&q=memorial%20inscription%20at%20Benington%2C%20Hertfordshire%2C%20england&f=false)

The brass memorial (mentioned above) to "George Clarke" was apparently on the "Nave floor" of the Benington church in Hertfordshire, England, "until 1889", as follows:
"There are three brasses near the Rood Loft stairway; the upper is part of a scroll which may be related to the priest's brass in the Chancel. George Clarke mentioned in the middle of the brass took the farm on the Walkern Road by force in 152l while the owner, John Norreys, was in France. Both this brass, and that of his grandson below, were on the Nave floor until 1889." (Online source as of July 2016: http://ubbw.org.uk/Churches/StPeters/StPeters.htm)

"George Clarke" is mentioned in the book "Poor Relief in England, 1350-1600", by Marjorie Keniston McIntosh, 2012, page 233, which states the following:
"In his 1556 will, George Clarke the elder of Bennington, Herts. left the tithes of grain he had bought from Henry VIII to his son William and his heirs, under condition that every year at Christmas--in perpetuity--they make specified distribtuions of money and cloth to the poor of three nearby communities.  Each of the grants was to be handled by the vicar, churchwardens, and two or three of 'the honest men' of the relevant parishes." (Source: https://books.google.com/books?id=J-tUx_OymVIC&pg=PA233&lpg=PA233&dq=George+Clarke,+1556+Will,+Bennington,+England&source=bl&ots=VpTo2kbxnt&sig=EfqJzXiEYMLyipn-CyLR4RhwOL8&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi21sHboZvOAhUPymMKHQImDa8Q6AEIHDAA#v=snippet&q=George%20Clarke&f=false

"George Clarke" is mentioned as taking a "farm on the Walkern Road by force in 1521" as follows:
"There are three brasses near the Rood Loft stairway [of Benington church in Hertfordshire, England]; the upper is part of a scroll which may be related to the priest's brass in the Chancel. George Clarke mentioned in the middle of the brass took the farm on the Walkern Road by force in 152l while the owner, John Norreys, was in France. Both this brass, and that of his grandson below, were on the Nave floor until 1889." (Source: http://ubbw.org.uk/Churches/StPeters/StPeters.htm)  Note: The mentioned relationship of George Clarke to his supposed "grandson" may not be correct, as the two other Clarke's mentioned in the brass inscriptions--William Clarke (d.1591) and John Clarke (d.1603)--were brothers whose grandfather was probably John Clarke.
