Thomas Martin Davis was born on 22 November 1899 in Samaria, Oneida, Idaho. He was the fifth child of Samuel William Davis and Mary Ann Martin. Thomas Martin Davis (1899-1968) married Vera Ann Nichols (1898-1979) in Malad City, Oneida, Idaho in 1923. They had two children: Olive May Davis (Osmond, 1925-2004) and Thomas Nichols Davis (1936-2001). Tom and Vera were school teachers. In the summer months they lived on a ranch above Samaria, Idaho, called Mount Pleasant. In the winter they lived in Thatcher, Idaho, where Tom taught school. In 1938, Tom was elected county superintendent of schools, so the family moved to Malad, Idaho. In later years they moved to Ogden, Utah, where Tom served eighteen years as vice-principal of Davis High School and later as a counselor at Weber High School. Tom retired in 1966, but died in 1968. Vera outlived her husband eleven years, and died in 1979. They are buried in Ogden City Cemetery, Weber, Utah.
