Royal and Geneva Bown Await March 23rd Fete

Mr. and Mrs. Royal B. Bown will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on March 26, 1969. Open house will be held Saturday, March 22, 1969 in the American Legion Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. A coridal invitation is extended to all friends and relatives to attend. No gifts are requested.

Mr. and Mrs. Bown were married March 26, 1919, in Manti, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple February 3, 1968. Both were born and raised in Manti. They made their home in Manti where they were proud parents of five children: Donna Roberts of Centerfield, Kenneth and Bruce Bown of Mani, deceased, Earl and Dick Bown.

Royal Bown is the son of Hyrum and Isabella Braithwaite Bown. He was a farmer and livestock man on a rach between Manti and Sterling. Royal is the president of North Six-Mile Irrigation Company and has been for the past 28 years. He is a home teacher for the Manti Center Ward.

Geneva is the daughter of James O. and Mary Ann Hansen Braithwaite. She has been a faithful worker in Relief Society serving on the social committee for a number of years. She still is and has been a Relief Society teacher for the past 36 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Bown are proud grandparents of 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Bown O'Brien (1936 ~ 2012)

BOUNTIFUL, UT-Dorothy Bown O'Brien, born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 10, 1936 to Floyd and Ethel Jenson Bown passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on February 18, 2012.

Dorothy graduated from the University of Utah and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She married Gerald (Jerry) O' Brien on February 3, 1960 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dorothy touched many lives through her 35 years of teaching in the Davis County Schools. She was very musically talented and loved sharing her talents for the enjoyment of others. She sang in the Allegro Chorus. She was also a very accomplished dancer, dancing at the University of Utah and later directing and choreographing for stake and community musical theater. Dorothy spent countless hours knitting and donating hats for many charities including Native Americans, orphanages, and Utah Youth Village. She was an active member of the LDS church enjoying many years of service including callings as chorister and ward and temple organist. She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother Sonny. She is survived by her husband Jerry, and children Todd O'Brien, Jill (Rob) Christensen, and John O'Brien, her brother Roger Bown, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Bountiful 28th Ward Chapel, 2285 S. 200 W., Bountiful. Viewings will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment at the Kaysville City Cemetery.

Wesley B Whitlock

Wesley attended Manti Utah High School where he was active in basketball. He atttended Snow College, Ephraim, Utah where he
continued to be active in basketball. He attended Utah State University in Logan Utah, where he received his school teacher degree.
He was employed by Granite School District as an educator and served 26 years in Kearns, Utah. He also worked in sales and
auditing. Wesley is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Wes was an avid golfer and hunter, and he enjoyed fishing too. He was
well known for his beautiful cross-stitching.

Robert B. Bown

MANTI, UT., - Funeral services for Robert Braithwaite Bown, 67, of Manti, who died Tuesday, March 9, 1976 in a Salt Lake City hospital after a short illness, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Manti South LDS Ward Chapel.

Mr. Bown was the brother of Mrs. Alta Coleman of Heber City, Utah.

He was born May 9, 1908 in Manti, Utah to Hyrum and Isabella Braithwaite Bown. He married Clara V. Larsen on September 11, 1930 in Manti and the marriage was solemnized later in the Manti LDS Temple.

Mr. Bown was a retired insurance salesman and a musician. He also served as director of the Manti Senior Citizens.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, K. Donnell Bown, Bothwell, Box Elder County; Howard Jene Bown and Robert C. Bown, both of Bountiful; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Alta Coleman, Heber City; Lucien Bown, Chester, Sanpeter County; Glen Bown, Arcadia, California; Mrs. Thelma Whitlock, Salt Lake City, and Mrs Elaine Higham, Manti.

Friends may call at Buchanan Funeral Home in Manti tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock or Saturday at the ward chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Manti Cemetery.
