FUNERAL: The Ogden Standard Examiner (UT), Monday, 9 SEP 1968

Smith - Funeral services for Daryl J. Smith of 1164-27th Street, the husband of Edna Braithwaite Smith, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd. with Bishop Welling Zundel of the Fifty-second Ward officiating. Friends may call at the Mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services. Interment in the Heber City Cemetery directed by the Myers Mortuary.

Daryl J. Smith

Daryl J. Smith, 56, of 1164 27th, died Sunday evening in a local nursing home.

Mr. Smith was born November 16, 1911, in Heber City, Utah, a son of Orrin J. and Hazel Bell Smith.

On September 11, 1933, he was married to Edna Braithwaite in Vernal.

He formerly served as a fireman at the Defense Depot Ogden and had recently retired as a press operator at the depot.

He was a member of the LDS 52nd Ward.

He had lived in Herber City and Duchesne prior to moving to Ogden in 1942.

Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Carol Rynhart, Miss Lynn Smith, both of Ogden; two grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hicken, Heber City; one brother and one sister, Doug Smith, Heber City, and Mrs. Fred W. (Faun) Strong, San Diego, California.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Welling Zundel of the 52nd Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services. Burial in the Heber City Cemetery.


George Earl Braithwaite

BIOGRAPHY: OGDEN--George[0] Earl Braithwaite, 84, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at his home of emphysema, surrounded by his family.
   Earl was born October 31, 1914 in Ephraim, Utah, a son of Joseph L. and Caroline Willardsen Braithwaite. He married Lucille Sorenson on June 10, 1938 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died June 4, 1986. He married Irene C. Hoggan[0] on September 5, 1987.Earl was raised and educated in Ephraim, Utah, graduating from Ephraim High School. He attended Snow College, majoring in accounting and business. He was employed as office manager for Burr Chevrolet Company in Ephraim from 1936 to 1942. In 1942, he moved from Ephraim to Ogden where he was employed at Hill AFB, serving in several executive positions in accounting, finance, procurement and supply. Earl had been a resident of Ogden since 1942 and following his retirement, spent his winters in Coronado, California.
   Earl was an active member of the Highland Ward of the LDS Church serving in various positions including High Priest, Home Teacher and choir member.
   Earl was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.
   Surviving are his wife, Irene, of Ogden; two daughters, Ann (Gary) Sweetnam, Canyon Country, California; Vee (John) Gooch, Layton, Utah; three step-daughters, one step-son, eight grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and eight step-great- grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents, two brothers, Verlan and Leroy, and two sisters, Edna B. Smith and Elva B. Siler.
   The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and aids of Hospice who provided such loving service during the last days of Earl's life.
   Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Michael DeYoung of the Highland Ward, officiating. Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

Neldon H Braithwaite

He lived at 1339 Kiesel Avenue, Ogden, Utah.  He attended Ogden High School.  Was active in music guild.  Attended Utah State University, Logan, Utah and gained a BS degree in accounting.  Was employed by Weber State College.  Served in the US Navy.  His hobbies were music and reading.  Served LDS Chursch as secretary High Priests, counselor in the bishopric, Presidency of the Elder's Quorum.  Member of the Utah Old Time Fiddlers.

BIOGRAPHY: Neldon H. Braithwaite 6/30/23 ~ 1/3/06 OGDEN - Neldon H. Braithwaite, 82, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at McKay-Dee Hospital from complications of a stroke. Neldon was born June 30, 1923 in Huntsville, a son of Verlan J. and Nina Halls Braithwaite. He was married to the love of his life, Lois Buttars, on September 20, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Neldon was raised and educated in Weber County, and graduated from Ogden High School. He graduated from Utah State University in 1949 with an accounting degree. He worked for Weber State University in accounts payable for 35 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Neldon served nearly four years with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Neldon is survived by his wife Lois, his brother Kim Braithwaite, San Diego, CA; his children Laurel Braithwaite, Ogden; Elaine (Robert) Holden, Ogden; John (Janet) Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Coralie Richardson. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mound Fort 2nd Ward Chapel, 952 Childs Avenue, (one and a half blocks west of Washington Blvd. on 10th Street) with Bishop Ryan Woodward officiating. Her hobbies are music, sewing, dancing.  Served LDS Church as a Sunday School and Relief Society organist, Primary president, Sunday School teacher and temple worker in the Ogden Temple.  Was a member Weber State College faculty Women's
Association.

BIOGRAPHY: OGDEN-A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Lois Buttars Braithwaite, 87, died Thursday, September 13, 2007 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Lois was born December 2, 1919 in Clarkston, Utah, a daughter of Thomas J. and Annie Loosle Buttars. She was married to her eternal companion, Neldon Braithwaite, September 20, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Lois was raised and educated in Cache County, and graduated from North Cache High School. She attended Utah State University. She was employed in various capacities through the years and rarely sat idle. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including primary president and relief society president. She loved to play the piano and the organ. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The youngest of 12 children, Lois is survived by her sister, Berneice Buttars (Joseph) Griffin, Clarkston, UT; her children, Laurel Braithwaite, Ogden; Elaine (Robert) Holden, Ogden; John (Janet) Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Neldon; her parents; and 10 brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 11 a.m. at the Mound Fort 2nd Ward Chapel, 952 Childs Avenue (one and a-half blocks west of Washington Blvd. on 10th Street) with Bishop Ryan Woodward officiating. Friends and family may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the Ward Chapel from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the services.
Interment, Clarkston, Utah Cemetery.

BIOGRAPHY: Coralie Braithwaite Richardson, 78, passed away September 6, 2004 in Murray, UT of natural causes. Born May 12, 1926 in Huntsville, UT to Verlan and Nina Halls Braithwaite. Married Darwin L. Richardson, Sept. 2, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graduated from Ogden High School. She loved to play and teach the piano and organ. She was instrumental in teaching the love of music to thousands of people. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Survived by her children, Michael (Jone), David (Andrea), Lorie (Stacey) Billeci, Mark (Jerilynn), Kelly (Barbara); 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Neldon (Lois) Braithwaite and Kim (JoAn) Braithwaite. Preceded in death by her husband, and grandson Peter M. Bray. Funeral services held Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at the Murray 16th Ward, 619 W. 5750 S. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
