Kenneth McKee Ostler, 70, of Springville, died Monday, December 25, 1989, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 8, 1919, in Springville, to Arthur and Amy Elizabeth McKee Ostler .

He married Leora Braithwaite June 1, 1939, in Provo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Springville; five daughters, Mrs. Kay Earley, Mrs. Jim (Debbie) Hall, both of Nephi; Mrs. Dale (Karen) Childs, Mrs. Mike (Jolene) Crawford, both of Springville; Janet Hansen, Bountiful; 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Lillian Boswell, both of Salt Lake City; George Ostler, Mapleton; Harmon Ostler, Imlay, Nevada.

BIOGRAPHY: Leora Braithwaite Ostler Hasleton passed away after a lingering illness at the Art City Care Center Thursday, July
  19, 2001 with her children surrounding her.
  She was pre-ceded in death by her husband Kenneth McKee Ostler to whom she was sealed in the Manti Temple May 25, 1965. She later married Hubert Hasleton of whom preceded her in death also. She was a long time resident of Springville and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  She is survived by her five daughters and one son: Afton Kay Early; Karen Childs Robertson of Springville; Jan Adams of Sandy; Jolene Crawford of Afton, WY; Debbie Hall of Idaho; and Troy Beebe of Spanish Fork; 22 grandchildren, and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
  The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Art City Care Center for their loving care.
  A viewing will be held for family and friends on Sunday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville, UT.
  Funeral will be held Monday, July 23 at the 1st Ward Hobble Creek West Stake Center, 555 South 600 East in Springville at 11 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

DEATH: Orem - Wayne Braithwaite, 44, 310 North 1030 West, Orem, died Friday at his home of a heart condition. He was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Spanish Fork, a son of Williard and Tabeitha Davis Braithwaite. He married Erman Janene Chase on Jan . 14, 1947, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In an obituary in the Heraldm, Provo, Utah Sunday 1971 is says his birthday is 23 Oct 1926.


James Arthur Francom

James A. Francom

SPANISH FORK, UT., - James Arthur "Art" Francom, 88, of 256 South 500 East, Spanish Fork, died Saturday, July 3, 1976 in Payson Hospital after a long illness.

He was born November 7, 1887, to Payson, a son of John and Delilah Holder Francom. He married Ivy Richardson on March 15, 1911 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died November 3, 1958.

He was educated in Payson Schools and lived in Payson until 1960. He had worked as a farmer and fruit grower. In 1960 he retired and moved to Spanish Fork where he has resided since.

He was a member of the LDS Church and was an elder in the Spanish Fork 15th Ward at the time of his death. He had served in various capacities, including elders quorum president. He also had served on the Salem Irrigation Canal Board for many years.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters, James Derwin Francom, Payson; Arthur L. Francom, Salem; Mrs. Melvin (Ramona) Braithwaite and Mrs. Reed (Keturah) Thomas, both of Spanish Fork; 22 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Ezra (Charlotte) Stewart, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ivan (Mytell) Hamilton and Mrs. Florence B. Elkins, both of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork Stake House, with Bishop Jay Newitt officiating. Friends may call at Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the services. Burial will be in Payson City Cemetery.

Woman Of Payson Dies At 69

PAYSON, UT., - Mrs. Ivy R. Francom, 69, died Monday afternoon at Payson City Hospital after an illness.

She was born May 7, 1889, at Benjamin, Utah, the daughter of Shadrach Montgomery and Keturah Hand Richardson.

She married James Arthur Francom March 15, 1911, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Francom spent her early life in Benjamin where she attended school. She was later a student at University of Utah and after her marriage moved to Payson where she has since made her home.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, former president of the Relief Society, Primary and MIA. She also served as Sunday School teacher and was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers Payson Camp One.

Surviving are her husband of Payson, two sons, Darwin and Arthur L. Francom, both of Payson; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Ramona) Braithwaite and Mrs. Reed (Keturah) Thomas, both of Spanish Fork; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph W. and Orion F. Richardson, Payson; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie R. Schearrer, Payson; Mrs. Delilah R. Fugal, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Teressa R. Loveless, Ogden.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Payson First-Fifth LDS Ward Church under direction of Blanchard Dixon, First Ward Bishop. Friends may call Rigby Mortuary Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Burial in Payson City Cemetery.

PAYSON, UT., - Funeral services for Mrs. Ivy R. Francom, 69, who died Monday at Payson City Hospital, will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Payson First-Fifth LDS Ward. Deon Mortensen


Deon Mortensen Ludlow, our wonderful and so very loved mother, passed away at home on Friday, July 31, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Deon was born May 1, 1934 in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Leon and Hazel Barney Mortensen. She attended schools in Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School. She married the love of her life, Allen G. Ludlow, on February 23, 1955, in Spanish Fork; and they were sealed for all time and eternity in the LDS Manti Temple on October 15, 1966.
In the early years of her marriage, Deon worked at Mountain Bell in Spanish Fork until her family started. She then was a fantastic stay-at-home mom, raising six kids. After the kids were grown, she drove school bus for 16 years for Nebo School District, making countless friends along the way. She was a great homemaker and excellent baker. Her home was always open to family and friends. Many hours were spent at her kitchen table sharing coffee and her famous cinnamon rolls. Deon canned and bottled all fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed playing tennis and softball, liked bowling and anything in the outdoors, especially camping with family and friends. She spent many days at the sheep camp with Allen and later with her kids. She loved to hike, climbing Timpanogos Mountain many times. She also completed several rigorous hikes in southern Utah. Always active, she loved yard work and kept a neat, well-groomed yard.  She was a soft touch for all animals. She loved and pampered her dogs and fed many stray cats over the years. She also had several bird feeders in her yard and liked watching the birds come to visit.
Deon is an active member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, where she served tirelessly in the Leland Ward Primary and Young Women organizations, as well as the Relief Society. She was camp director for the ward for many years.
Deon is survived by two sons and three daughters: Lance (Julie) Ludlow of Nephi, UT, Lori (Ron) Whitehead of St. George, UT, Lana (J Ryan) Nielsen of Spanish Fork, UT, Chris (SuAnn) Ludlow of Spanish Fork, UT, Shannon (Daniel) Whitelock of Benjamin, UT; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings Karen (Garth) Beckstom of Spanish Fork, UT, and Darlene Crozier of Provo, UT.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen, on September 14, 1996; her son, Bruce Ludlow; grandson, Blake Ludlow; and her parents, Leon and Hazel Mortensen.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the LDS Leland Ward/Spanish Fork West Stake Center, 360 North 650 West, Spanish Fork, Utah.  There will be a visitation for family and friends Thursday, August 6th from 9:00 a.m. ‘til 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
Special thanks to the Encompass Hospice Staff for their loving care of Mom, and also to Derrelene, Wendy, Brook, and Kasey for being special caregivers.  Mom loved all of you.

Springville Man Called By Death

SPRINGVILLE, UT., - Charles Robert Ostler, 62, of Springville, died late Monday night after an illness of two years. He was formerly custodian of the Lincoln school and of the city park.

Mr. Ostler was born in Springville, January 15, 1874, a son of Samuel and Emma Beard Ostler. He lived in Springville all his life and was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Boyack Ostler, 13 children, Mrs. James Giles, Ethel Virgial, Tess, Ted, Ione and Blain Ostler, all of Springville; Roy Ostler, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ralph Jones and Mrs. Albert Palmer, Provo; Robert and LaVell Ostler, Spring Canyon and Mrs. George Wing, Mapleton. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. A. H. Child, Springville, and Mrs. Abe Jenkins, Provo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Fourth Ward Chapel.

SPRINGVILLE, UT., - Funeral services for Charles Robert Ostler, 62, of this city, who died Monday night, following a lingering illness, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Second LDS Ward Chapel, under the direction of the Fourth LDS Ward bishopric. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence, East First North Street, before the services.

Funeral Friday 2nd-8th Ward For Mrs. Ostler

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Boyack Ostler, 77, 120 South Second East Street, who died Tuesday afternoon at the Utah Valley Hospital, will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m., in the Second-Eighth ward chapel. Bishop Melvin Duke of the Eighth Ward, will officiate.

Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary Thursday evening and Friday before the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Ostler had been confined to the hospital for about ten days.

She was born in Spanish Fork, October 30, 1879, a daughter of Robert and Emily Stoker Boyack and spent her early life in that city.

She was married to Charles Ostler June 6, 1895 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died a number of years ago.

She had taken active part in Relief Society work having been a teacher for many years.

The mother of thirteen sons and daughters, there are 12 surviving. One son, Ted Ostler lost his life in World War II.

Other sons and daughters are: Mrs. Maude Giles, Ethel, Virgil and Blaine Ostler and Mrs. Ione Braithwaite of Springville; Ray Ostler, D. Lavell Ostler and Mrs Mildred Jones of Salt Lake City; Charles Ostler and Mrs. Tess Bird of Orem; Mrs. Louise Wing of Mapleton and Mrs. Blanch Palmer of Provo; 54 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Emily Jane Booth and a brother, David Boyack both of Spanish Fork.

Christian Sandy Carter - March 22, 1946 ~ September 19, 2010

Christian Sandy Carter of Springville, passed away peacefully September 19, 2010.

He was born March 22, 1946 in Salt Lake City, UT to Elwood Berlin and Malinda Ella Newell Carter. He was the youngest of 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Sandy was raised on a ranch in Tabiona, Utah. He loved working with and riding the horses they raised and taking care of the other farm animals. He loved hunting.

He graduated from Tabiona High school in 1964, and was in the top ten of his class. He served an LDS mission to the northwestern states from 1965-'67. He also served in the US army from 1968-70. He also attended Utah Technical College.

He married his soul mate, Brenda Braithwaite in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1970. They had three sons and three daughters.

He was an active member of the LDS church, where he served in various positions. He was also a temple ordinance worker until his health began to decline.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Springville), his children Tonya Smith, Springville; Michael C. (Janet) Carter, St. George; Eldon S. (Amber) Carter, St. George; Heidi (Anthony) Puleo, West Jordon; Chrisenda Carter, Payson; and 13 grandchildren, and two brothers Newell(Amber), Salt Lake; and Vern Carter(Tabiona).

He is preceded in death by his son Jared B. Carter, his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Spring Creek 4th Ward Chapel, 350 North 400 East, Springville, Utah.

Jared B Carter, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Springville, Utah.

Jared was born August 3, 1971 in Provo, Utah. He was the son of Christian Sandy and Brenda Braithwaite Carter.

Jared married Laura Jacobson on December 10, 1993. They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Jayla Lynn Carter and a son, Bailey Berlin Carter. They later divorced.

Jared was a caring, compassionate, creative person, always loving unconditionally. He found the most joy in life with his children. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in several different positions including assistant ward clerk, and counselor of the Sunday School Presidency.

Jared was a graduate of Payson High School. He also graduated from Bon Losee Hair Academy and attended UVSC. He worked at the Utah State Developmental Center for several years where he grew to love the individuals he cared for.

Jared is survived by his children Jayla and Bailey, Payson; his parents Christian Sandy and Brenda Carter, Springville; his brothers and sisters: Tonya Smith, Springville; Michael C. (Janet) Carter, St. George; Eldon S. (Amber) Carter, St. George; Heidi (Anthony) Puleo, West Jordon; Chrisenda Carter, Payson; and 13 nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Spring Creek 4th Ward Chapel, 350 North 400 East, Springville, Utah.
