Spanish Fork Man Dies Of Heart Attack
SPANISH FORK, UT., - Benjamin O. Riches, 75, Spanish Fork, died Wednesday of a heart attack. He was born July 17, 1896, in Nephi, Utah, a son of William B. and Eliza Ostler Riches.
He married Surelda Buchanan on June 14, 1922, in the Manti Temple. She died March 15, 1969. He then married Nina Dunham Elmer on September 3, 1969.
He worked for Utah-Idaho Sugar Factory in Leland, for the DelMonte Canning Company and for Geneva Steel Company for 17 years before retiring. He was a veteran of World War I.
Active in the LDS Church, Mr. Riches was librarian in the Sunday School, secretary of the Elder's Quorum, secretary of the YMMIA, on the ward genealogy committee. He served a mission, was ward clerk and at the time of his death was secretary of the High Priest's Quorum.
Survivors include his widow, Spanish Fork; three sons, Rolland Riches, El Paso, Texas; Benjamin B. Riches, Orem; David K. Riches, Salem; 13 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Geneva) Marshall, Hiawatha, Carbon County, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon in the Spanish Fork Fifth Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Paul Calder. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to services. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

Spanish Fork Woman Dies At 66
SPANISH FORK, UT., - Surelda Buchanan Riches, 66, 611 E. 2nd S., Spanish Fork, wife of Benjamin O. Riches, died Saturday in the Payson City Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born August 21, 1903, in Manti, Utah, a daughter of Raphael S. and Margaret May Braithwaite Buchanan. She married Mr. Riches June 14, 1922, in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mrs. Riches received her education in the Manti and Centerfield City schools. Following her marriage she and her husband made their home in Spanish Fork, where they had resided since.
Active in the LDS Church, she had served as the president of the Spanish Fork Eighth Ward Primary, and as a Primary teacher for 20 years. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxillary.
Survivors include her husband of Spanish Fork; three sons, Rolland Riches, El Paso, Texas; Benjamin B. Riches, Orem, and David Karl Riches, Spanish Fork; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchildren, and seven brothers and sister, Mrs. Riginal (Twyla) Jensen, Leonard R. Buchanan, Eldred J. Buchanan, Donald R. Buchanan, Earl R. Buchanan, John R. Buchanan, and Glen P. Buchanan, all of Gunnison and LeRAy R. Buchanan of Casper, Wyoming.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Spanish Fork Fifth-Eighth LDS Ward Chapel.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary Chapel in Spanish Fork Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
