Orson Burgess Eggleston

Grover Pioneer Resident Dies

Orson B. Eggleston, 75, of Grover, died of a heart ailment at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He had been a resident of Star Valley for 61 years.

Eggleston was born April 29, 1872 at Ogden, Utah where he spent the first fourteen years of his life. In 1886, he moved to Afton where he lived until 1907 when he took up a ranch in Grover where he lived until his death.

He fulfilled a two year mission to the Eastern States Mission for the LDS Church.

On September 23, 1903, he was married to Annie Peterson in the Logan LDS Temple. Eleven children were born to this union, nine of whom are still living.

Survivors beside his widow, are: Justin O. Eggleston, Connie England, Otis H. Eggleston, Grant Eggleston and Wyane Eggleston all of Grover, June Corsi of Etna, Raidia Rudd, Lehi, Utah; Marie Toburen and Opal Taylor, of Cheyenne, Wymoning.

Funeral services will be held in the Grover Ward Saturday at 1 p.m. The remains can be seen at the Schwab Mortuary or at the home Saturday morning.

Nephi Man Dies At 88

NEPHI, UT., - James Christensen, 88, Nephi, died Wednesday at 4 a.m. in an Orem rest home.

He was born February 9, 1872, in Manti, Utah, a son of Jens and Ane Else Brienholt Christensen.

He married Mary Emily Winn, June 27, 1900 in the Manti Temple. She died March 31, 1951.

Mr. Christensen spent his early life in Ephraim, moving to Nephi at the time of his marriage.

He was a farmer until his retirement a few years ago. He was a member of the genealogical committee of the Nephi North Ward for many years. He was a high priest at the time of his death.

Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Zelma Golden, Nephi; Mrs. Lila Braithwaite; Mrs. Alice Hansen, Lee W., Lindon D., and Elroy J., Salt Lake City; Ralph O., Idaho Falls; and Earl, Chicago; also 33 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Hilda Armstrong and Mrs. Lewella Thompson, Ephraim; Oswald Christensen, Rexburg, Idaho; Sophus and Folumer Bertleson, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Third Ward Stake House. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home Friday evening and Saturday prior to services. Burial will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.

Pedersen Rites

Oliver Cowdery Pedersen, age 85, of 1000 North 400 East died February 7, 1976 in a Salt Lake hospital of causes incident to age.

Mr. Pedersen was born April 26, 1890 at Alborg, Denmark. He was the son of Neils and Mette Kathrine Pedersen Pedersen. He married Phoebe Gold Gedge September 15, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died December 29, 1948.

Mr. Pedersen was a member of the LDS Church, a former bishoop of the Redwood Ward and served as a member of the North Jordan Stake High Council.

He was a genealogical researcher. He worked as a counselor in the stake high priest quorum, taught Sunday School for 25 years and has been a home teacher for 49 years. He served a mission to Denmark from 1924-1926.

Survivors include his sons and daughters; Herbert N., Richland, Washington; Herschel N., American Fork; Keith A., South Jordan; Kent A., San Jose, California; Gailen, Bountiful; Gilbert, Salt Lake City; ElRay L., Layton; Mrs. Conrad (Remore) Gerber, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Keith (Karen) Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Richard (Phoebe Jean) Eason of Chicago, Illinois; and 45 grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers and sister; Enoch Pedersen, Apple Valley, California; Ben Jamen Pedersen, Salt Lake City and Mrs. William (Martha) Castro of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday February 10, 1976 in the Bountiful 37th Ward Chapel.

Interment was in the Elysian Burial Gardens in Salt Lake City. Funeral director, Russon Brothers Bountiful Union Mortuary.

Services were conducted by Bishop David Brockbank of the Bountiful 37th Ward. Services were as follows:

Family prayer, Herbert Pedersen; prelude and postlude music, Margene Knowlton; musical trio "O My Father" and "I Need Thee Every Hour" by Shirley Elder, Ila Reed and Joyce Goodrich accompanied by Grace parrish.

Invocation, Robert McMater; bishop's remarks, David Brockbank; a duet by Margie Knowlton and Joyce Brown, "The Lord's Prayer". Speakers were Bishop Gerald O. Robinson, Pres. Henry E. Peterson and Herschel Pedersen. A musical number by Mary Ann Pedersen accompanied by Margene Knowlton, "In The Garden."

Ila Reed presented a violin solo, "Meditation," accompanied by Grace Parrish. Benediction was by Keith Braithwaite. Dedication of the grave was by Keith Pedersen.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Randy Gerber, Kenneth Gerber, Chris Pedersen, Dan Pedersen, Dan Pedersen, Gordon Pedersen and Mark Pedersen.

Honorary pallbearers were High Priests of the Bountiful 37th Ward.

The Relief Society of the Bountiful 37th Ward was in charge of the flowers.

Samuel Lynn Bearnson

Alpine Teacher Succumbs, 40

SANDY, UT., - Samuel Lynn Bearnson, 40, Sandy, died Monday in a Salt Lake hospital after a long illness.

He was born February 15, 1927, in Spanish Fork to George and Evelyn Cornaby Bearnson. He married Dorothy M. Silberstein on October 18, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was a school teacher in the Alpine school district for the past 12 years. He taught at the Pleasant Grove High School eight years and at the Central Elementary for four years.

He is an Army veteran of World War II and an active LDS church member. He graduated from SF High and received his bachelors and masters degrees from the BYU.

Survivors include his widow and sons and daughters, Ken Bearnson, Brenda Jean Bearnson, both of Duchesne County (Roosevelt); Edward, Karen Lynne, both of Sandy; mother of Salt Lake City; brothers, Everett Bearnson, SLD; Mrs. Gilber (Vivian) Barney, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Ronald (Della) Bradshaw, Kearns; Mrs. C. L. (Evelyn) Poulter, Ogden.

Funeral services were held in the Sandy 11th Ward Chapel Thursday. Burial was in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
