Death Takes Young Mother From First Child

A cloud of sorrow enveloped Manti Saturday morning, August 26, 1939, when the report of the death of Mrs. Daisy Quinn Hansen spread through the city. Her death, which came suddenly after she had given birth to a beautirul seven and one half pound baby boy, was a great shock to the family as well as to the whole community.

Mrs. Hansen was loved by all who knew her for her sweet and gentle disposition. She was born in Cleveland, Utah December 15, 1913. She graduated from the Manti High School in 1932. On August 30, 1935 in the Logan Temple she married Levi Hansen of Manti.

Daisy was active in civic and church affairs. Only recently she gave service as a Sunday School teacher and as secretary of the Mutual Improvement Association. She will be missed by these organizations and by her host of friends. Her loveableness and her sunny disposition will long be remembered.

She is survived by her infant son, her husband, Levi, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Quinn of Emery and the following brothers and sisters, Author, Dee Eldon, Florella, Ray, Alveratta, and Tim, all of Emery; also her grandmother, Suzanna Fordham of Salina.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Manti North Ward Chapel; Bishop C. G. Braithwaite presiding.

An opening song "Sometime We'll Understand" was rendered by the choir. Prayer was given by Girven Stott and was followed by a male quartet, "Thanks To God."

The speakers were President Leland E. Anderson, John R. Nielson, President E. T. Reid and Mrs. Ellen Crawford, who read favorite selections form Daisy's scrapbook. Mrs. Ellis E. Johnson sang "Whispering Hope", Sam Parry and Lorna Nielson sang the closing song, "Going Home".

Prayer was by Bernard Christiansen. The grave was dedicated by Lewis H. Hougaard.

Family Honors J. P. Hansen On 86th Anniversary

Jens Peter Hansen was honored by his family on Sunday, as they noted his 86th birthday anniversary, which fell on August 5, 1952. They held a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Armstrong, after which 30 relatives and friends spent the afternoon in the City park.

Mr. Hansen was born in Manti, August 5, 1866, a son of Jens and Karen Anderson Hansen, and has lived in Manti all his life, being engaged in livestock raising and farming.

Mr. Hansen has always enjoyed church work and at present is a High Priest in the Manti North Ward. He has served as secretary for the High Priest's quorum, as a ward teacher and in other capacities through the years. As a boy he stood within a few feet of Brigham Young as the church president dedicated the Manti Temple site for construction of a temple.

In the community, Mr. Hansen served as city watermaster and as pound keeper.

He married Karen Renberg, a convert from Denmark, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1908, and they are the parents of three children, Levi Hansen and Mrs. Lillian Armstrong of Manti and Mrs. Donna Johnson, Susanville, California, and they have nince grandchildren.

His daughter, Donna, was unable to be present for the anniversary, but visited in Manti for a couple of weeks in July. Her son, Larry, has been visiting with relatives in Manti for the past three weeks. r. and Mrs. Ned Armstrong will accompany him to Salt Lake City today to see him off on his return trip to Susanville.

Funeral Friday For J. P. Hansen

Funeral services for Jens Peter Hansen, 86, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Manti North Ward Chapel by Bishop Calvin Keller.

Friends may call at the home, 297 West 2nd North, Friday until time of the services.

Mr. Hansen died Tuesday afternoon after a lingering illness.

He was born in Manti, August 5, 1866, a son of Jens and Karen Anderson Hansen and had always made his home in Manti, engaging in livestock raising and farming.

He had always enjoyed church work and was a high priest in the Manti North Ward at time of his death. He had served as secretary of the High Priest's quorum, as a ward teacher and in other capacities through the years. As a boy, he stood within a few feet of Brigham Young as the church president dedicated the Manti Temple site for construction of a temple.

In the community Mr. Hansen had served as city watermaster and as estray poundkeeper.

He married Karen Renberg, a church convert from Denmark in the Salt Lake Temple, June 17, 1908. He is survived by his widow, as on, Levi Hansen, Manti and two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Armstrong, Manti and Mrs. Donna Johnson, Susanville, California, and by nine children.
