Craig was born on July 31, 1949 in Tooele, Utah to James Frederick and Helen Robinson Wexels. He married his high school sweetheart, Anne Lowry on August 21, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. Craig embraced both formal academics and life-long learning, earning Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Utah, along with the completion of a Master's program in Social Science through Utah State University. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Craig served for numerous years as a beloved Gospel Doctrine teacher, as well as in other capacities, including Elders Quorum President and Priesthood Quorum Instructor. Above all, Craig was a very loving and devoted family man. He was a cherished friend and companion to his wife, a dutiful provider, and a beacon of strength and fortitude for his children and grandchildren. Of all the varied interests in his life, his family was the utmost.

Craig is survived by his wife Anne; siblings Jim (Joy), Karen Caldwell (Joe), Karma Klauber (Ken); children Jon, Chris (Natalee), Denise Nash (Mark), Matt (Denise), and Maren Howe (Dave); grandchildren Brayden, Rylan, Cameron, Owen, Reagan, Jack, Teran, Anna, and Keric.
