Albert Taylor who has been suffering from the effects of heart failure quietly passed away late yesterday afternoon.

Funeral services will be held in the Center Ward Chapel tomorrow, (Saturday) afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Albert Taylor Goes To His Final Reward

Funeral services over Albert Taylor who died at the family residence last Thursday were held in the Center Ward Chapel last Saturday at 3 o'clock. The services were conducted by Bishop C. O. Stott who offered the closing remarks. Other speakers were Joseph Judd, Bishop N. R. Peterson and Pratt Allred. The invocation was offered by President L. R. Anderson and President J. B. Jacobsen pronounced the benediction.

The following musical numbers were rendered: "Beautiful Home," Miss Thera Olson and E. E. Johnson; "Face To Face" E. E. Johnson, "Bring Heavy Heart, Your Grief To Me," and "We Lay Thee Softly Down to Sleep," the Misses Thyra Olsen, Dorothy Olsen, Mabel Peterson and Mabel Anderson.

Albert Taylor was born in Manti January 25, 1855 in the white rock building which stood where the bank now stands. He was the son o Syrinus and Emily Smith Taylor.

He saw service in the Indian troubles and at the tender age of eleven tended horses for the "Minute Men" during the Black Hawk War. He also took part in recapturing the five Indian prisoners who broke jail in Manti and were subsequently killed. In his young manhood, he married Eliza Woolsey. Five children: Bert, Orson, Frank, Mary and Ada were born to them. His wife and son, Frank, preceding him to the grave. About 31 years ago he married Eliza DeMille and one daughter, Eva, was born to them.

He was never active in religious or civic affairs, but was a quiet reserved man, loyal, dependable and a thorough workman. Everybody knew and respected him for his fine qualities. He was generous to the need, though unasuming in his charaties. He was skilled with a pocket knife as is evidenced by a number of fine wooden models retained in his home.

For eighteen years he has been janitor at the Manti Theatre and Armada and had but two vacations. From the last he never returned to work.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Bert and Orson, who live in California, Mrs. Mary Wilson also of California, Mrs. Ada Russell of Price, Mrs. Eva Nielson of Provo, a brother, Hyrum Taylor, of Orangeville and a number of grandchildren.

Sophronia Braithwaite Emery, 96, died September 15, 1977, in a Santa Maria hospital.

Born November 23, 1881, Manti, Utah, to Joseph and Esther Taylor Braithwaite. Married John R. Emery, June 16, 1905, Salt Lake City, Utah. He died in 1957. Member of LDS Church. Member, DUP. Practical nurse for more than 50 years.

Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Laura Nielsen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Grace Parson, Santa Rosa, California; Mrs. Erma Bessie Domingos, San Luis Obispo, California; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Thursday, 2 p.m., Grant 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 601 Mansfield Avenue, where friends may call one hour before services. Burial, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Mary Askew, James Parrington's second wife, had her two daughters while very young out of wed-lock.  After her girls were raised she married James Parrington.  Hannah, Mary's second daughter, and her husband Rowland Braithwaite joined the church.  Rowland died before he could come to Utah but Hannah and her family came to Utah and settled in Manti.  It was Hannah's sons and daughter who had the temple work done for James Parrington and Mary Askew Parrington and had them sealed.  They also did the work for Elizabeth, Hannah's sister and had Hannah and Elizabeth sealed to James and Mary Parrington.  This work was done 17 November 1903 in the Manti Temple.  From the records of Ruby Braithwaite Cheever.
