OBITUARY:
BERNARD BARNSON DIES AT JUNCTION
Bernard Barnson,75,died at his home here Saturday after more than a week's illness of heart trouble.
He was born at Manti, October 27,1857, a son of Christian B. and Marie Anderson Barnson, who were married at sea on their way to the United States from Denmark. On December 28, 1882, he married Elizabeth Hannah Braithwaite. He moved with his wife a children to Junction May 19, 1895, and for many years lived on the Barnson ranch four miles from Junction, moving into town in the winter.
He was called to Mexico in September 1878, where he assisted in the LDS conlonization.
Besides his widow, he is survived by the following sons and daughter: Mrs. Clarissa Baler, Driggs, Idaho: Mrs Elizabeth Rudd, Mrs. Laverna Barlow, Mrs. Lora Beebe, Chris B. and Irvin Barnson, Junction: and Rowland Barnson, Salt Lake: two sister, Mrs. Theresa Barnson Rogers and Mrs. Marie Jolley, Los Angeles, 51 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren,

Funeral Services Held For Joseph Braithwaite
Funeral services for Joseph (Doce) Braithwaite, 90, were held in the Manti South Ward Chapel April 19, 1960 with Bishop L. Glen Anderson conducting. Mr. Braithwaite died at a Mayfield rest home April 16, 1960.
Prelude and postlude music was played by Eunice Garbe and other music included selections by the South Ward Singing Mothers and a trio of Thera Lou Hickman, Betty Peterson and Barbara Barton.
Prayer at the Mortuary was offered by William Munk and prayers at the funeral were by Remo Braithwaite and Elliott Braithwaite.
Speakers were Alma C. Peterson, Ray P. Lund and Bishop Anderson.
Burial was in the Manti City Cemetery under the direction of the Buchanan Mortuary and the grave was dedicated by a brother-in-law, Mr. Hinckley.

Manti City Park was the gathering place for the family of Joseph (Dose) Braithwaite Sunday as he celebrated his 90th birthday anniversary. The long table was centered with a large cake and 20 of his family gathered for a delicious dinner.
Mr. Braithwaite was born in Manti, July 12, 1869 to Rowland and Hannah Braithwaite. He married Marie Simonsen in the Manti LDS Temple and she died in 1938. He now has one living child, 3 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Out of town guests for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Braithwaite, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Crow and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sipes, all of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Braithwaite of Provo. His sister, May Buchanan and members of her family from Gunnison and many other relatives and friends called to wish him well of the special occasion

MANTI, UTAH - Mrs. Hansine Marie Simonsen Braithwaite, 56, died at her home in Manti Wednesday.
Mrs. Braithwaite was born in Ephraim, Utah on December 15, 1881, a daughter of Soren and Hansine Hanson Simonsen. She was married to Joseph Braithwaite in the Manti LDS temple in 1902. She had lived in Manti for 37 years, where she was active in Manti South Ward Mutual, Primary and Relief Society.
Surviving besides her husband, are a son, Leon Braithwaite of Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Will Munk of Manti; a brother, Wilford Simonson of Salt Lake City and two grandchildren.

Services Satruday For Mrs. Braithwaite
Funeral services for Hansine Marie Simonsen Braithwaite, 56, who died at her home Wednesday, will be held in the South Ward Chapel, Saturday at 2 p.m., with Bishop Alma Peterson in charge.
Visitors may call at the home Saturday from 9 in the morning until time for the services.

Manti Matron Notes 84th Birthday
Manti City Park was the gathering place for the family of Mary Ann Braithwaite to help her celebrate her 84th birthday anniversary. The long tables were centered with a birthday cake and 39 of her family gathered around to enjoy a delicious chicken dinner.
Mrs. Braithwaite was born July 5, 1875 in Manti to Jens and Miren Anderson Hansen. She married James O. Braithwaite in 1893 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Mr. Braithwaite died April 4, 1937.
Seven children were born to the union, six of whom are still living. Mrs. Braithwaite has twenty-six grandchildren, and 65 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Joseph Braithwaite was a special guest at the birthday observance. He will celebrate his 90th birthday anniversary on July 12, 1959. Many other friends and relatives called to wish Mrs. Braithwaite well on this special occasion.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Nelson and son of Ferron; Mr. and Mrs. Sherril Snow and family, and Mr. and Mrs. James Nelson and daughter of Salt Lake City.
Mary lives at 467 East 100 South Manti, Utah. Hobbies are crocheting and making quilts. Served LDS Church Relief Socity visiting teacher. Former member of American Legion Auxiliary, Post 31.

Oregon Resident Dies In Hospital
Blaine Braithwaite, 36, of Homedale, Oregon, died Monday at 1:20 a.m. at the Idaho Falls hospital where he had been a patient since November 3. He had been in ill health for some time and had come to Idaho Falls for medical treatment.
Born March 22, 1912 at Manti, Utah. Mr. Braithwaite later resided in Oregon.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maurice Braithwaite and three children, James, Jerry, and Glenn, all of Homedale, Oregon; by his mother, Mrs. Mary Braithwaite; two brothers and four sisters, Miles and Clinton Braithwaite of Manti, Utah; Mrs. Gladys Nelson, Ferron, Utah; Mrs. Geneva Bown, Mrs. Lida Edmunds and Mrs. Reba Alder, all of Manti, Utah.
The body, which is at the Williams Funeral Home, will be taken to Homedale Tuesday for services and burial.
Mr. Braithwaite's family resided here during his illness.

Bad Case Of Appendicitis
G. R. Braithwaite was taken to Salt Lake Saturday and operated upon that evening for a serious case of appendicitis at the LDS Hospital. Up till Wednesday but little hope was held for his recovery but Wednesday evening and since, the reports are more encouraging.
Riley has complained for over a year with some form of stomach ailment but had no idea of appendicitis until last Friday, although he had quit work Thursday afternoon. The operation disclosed the fact that his appendix had been ruptured and it will be some days before he can be considered out of danger.
[The sad news reached this city during the night that Mr. Braithwaite passed away last evening at 7 o'clock. A number of the family were with him when the end came.]

Wednesday last the infant child of Riley Braithwaite of this city passed away, and was buried Thursday. Only two months ago, the mother passed away, and again the bereaved father is called to mourn the loss of the little one born to them at that time. Our sympathy is extended to the young man in his hour of trial.

Open House To Mark 80th Anniversary
Martin Braithwaite will be honored on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary when an open house will be held in his honor on Sunday, January 20, 1957, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Steck in Manti. An invitation is issued by the family to anyone who desires to call and extend their greetings.
Mr. Braithwaite was born in Manti, January 22, 1877, a son of Rowland and Hannah Ormandy Braithwaite. He married Mable Clair Buchanan in the Manti LDS Temple, June 28, 1898, and she died January 14, 1947.
A resident of Manti the major part of his life, he was engaged in farming and was employed for many years in the sheep industry. He is an Elder in the Manti South Ward.
Mr. Braithwaite has five children: Mrs. Naomi Steck of Manti, Remo and Lucian Braithwaite of Ephraim, Mrs. Robert (Mable) Nelson and Leland Braithwaite of Salt Lake City. He boasts 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, 7 of whom arrived this past year. He has one brother, Joseph Braithwaite of Manti, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Buchanan of Centerfield.
