Charles Cash Rampton

Charles Cash Rampton, age 89, died December 14, 1991, of a heart attack in Salt Lake City, just ten days prior to his 90th Birthday.

Born December 24, 1901 in Bountiful, Utah to Charles Hyrum and Wilda Cash Rampton.

He attended schools in Bountiful, and the University of Utah. He married Virginia Townsend Dinmen in Piedmont, California. He was senior vice president of Walker Bank and Trust at the time of his retirement in 1965. He had been with the bank for 42 years. His life was filled with community service to the city he loved. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce, 1951; chairman, American Red Cross, Community Chest, Salvation Army, and the United Fund. He was appointed by mayor Lee to Civil Service Commission, Salt Lake City Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustments, Co-Chairman Advisory Commission on Airport Improvement. He was appointed by Judge Ritter to the Federal Jury Commission. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He belonged to the Alta Club, the Honorary Police Colonels, and was named to the Emeriters Club of the University of Utah. He held numerous banking and commerce commissions and served the Federal Reserve District 12 as U. S. Bonds Chairman.

Survived by wife; one son, and three daughters, Charles C. (Lois) Rampton, Jr., Inglewood, Calif.; Mrs. Michael (Marcia) Lamb, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Preston (Carolyn) Keele, and Mrs. David G. (Janet) Coleman, Jr., both Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Milo S. (Elaine) Marsden, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Gilbert W. (Vivian) Cheney, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Rampton, Mrs. Fred J. (Golda) Miner, Mrs. Roy A. (Wilda) Legge, Mrs. Charles R. (Afton) Mabey, and Mrs. Edward (ALice) Day.

Funeral services will be held on Wedneday, December 18th, at 12:00 noon, at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 1st South. Friends may call Tuesday evening at Evans & Early, from 6-8 0.m., and Wednesday, prior to the services. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to American Diabetic Foundation or chairity of ones choice.
