Orson Edwin Giles Dies After Illness

SPRINGVILLE, UT., - Orson Edwin Giles, a resident of this city, died Sunday at his home, after an illness. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Giles was born September 25, 1883, at Heber City, Utah, the son of William M. and Ann Murdock Giles.

During his lifetime he had worked as a farmer and stock raiser, and recently as a cast iron pipe cleaner and finisher.

He was married to Gladys Ethel Tadd at Spanish Fork, on March 27, 1907. They were residents of Springville during most of their married life.

Survivors include his widow, and sons and daughters: Mrs. Nello J. (Zella) Rowley, Mrs. Olive Noakes, Tadd Giles, Mrs. Wallace R. (Lottie) Gurr, Mrs. Marvin L. (Ila) Naylor and Mrs. Eugene J. (LaWanna) Gurr, all of Springville; Milton B. Giles, Price, and Mrs. David K. (Audrey) Riches, Spanish Fork. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. James (Jane Ann) Sharp, Fort Bridger, Wyoming; John Thomas Giles, Heber, Utah; Joseph F. Giles and Charles A. Giles, both of Richfield, Idaho, James A. Giles of Myton, Utah, 27 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Springville Fourth Ward Chapel by Bishop Mays W. Anderson. Friends may call at the family home, 1197 East Fourth South in Springville, Tuesday evening after 7 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

OBIT: Eric William Johnson

Eric William Johnson, age 40, special son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on October 1, 2010 at his home in Provo, Utah. Eric was born on October 9, 1969 in Walnut Creek, CA to Paul Stanley and Sherry Lynne Riches Johnson. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1992.

Eric had a special connection to his twin brother, Edward Allen Johnson and they were baseball superstars in the handicapped league in Houston. He also had the privilege of carrying the torch for the Special Olympics. He earned many medals from his participation with the Special Olympics. Eric liked the Atlanta Braves and loved BYU.

Eric lived his life the way HE wanted to. He loved everyone and knew everyone. A special thanks to Tri-Connections Group for allowing Eric to live an independent life. Thanks to Steve Willingham, Gail Grotegut, Josh Fillmore, and many others from Tri-Connections.

He is survived by his father, Paul (Marsha G.) Johnson; siblings, Joseph (Michelle) Johnson; Cynthia (Roger) Johnston; Tamara Johnson; and grandparents, Clair (Lois) Johnson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Sherry; twin brother, Edward Allen; and his maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spanish Fork 4th Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery (bio by: Ross Woolsey)

Marion Edward Lindquist

Marion Edward Lindquist, 77, of Hamilton passed away Sunday, March 17, at his home, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 5, 1925, in Coleridge, Neb., to Chester R. and Vera Green Lindquist. The family moved from Coleridge to White River, S.D., and in 1934 moved to Hamilton. He attended schools in White River, Grantsdale and Sleeping Child.

Marion served in the U.S. Army during World War II and after from 1943 to 1946. Marion married Margie Siler on Dec. 23, 1950. He worked as a logger for 30 years, employed by Sargent and McKinney logging. He farmed on the Little Sleeping Child.

He is survived by his wife Margie of Hamilton; son William Clyde and wife Iona Lindquist of Missoula; daughters Deanna Mary and husband Bruce Bartholomaus of Spokane, Wash., and Iola Marion Lindquist of Hamilton; brothers Harold and Chester Lindquist, both of Hamilton; sister Vera Tabish of Roseville, Calif.; granddaughters Kayla, Megan and Angela Bartholomaus of Spokane; step-grandsons Frankie Rodriguez of Missoula and Wayne Rodriguez of Billings, and step-great-grandson Zane Rodriguez of Billings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Louise Lemon and Marie Ruffatto and grandson Jason Bartholomaus.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Daly-Leach Chapel with Pastor Alvin House officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton with military honors presented by the Hamilton American Legion and the Marine Corps League - Bitterroot Detachment.
