On February 7, 1911 (according to the IDAHO.gov site on the internet [Oct. 2006] ) the county of Bonneville was created from the county of Bingham.  Thus Elda and most of her siblings were born in Bingham County but any baptisms etc. done in Iona after the above date were done in Bonneville County. sak


Ryan Glenn Braithwaite

BIOGRAPHY: Born in Murray, Utah, to Glenn Bruce Braithwaite and Winifred Nielsen Jensen, Ryan Glenn Braithwaite completed his earthly life on Friday.
  He married his best friend, Angela Owens Braithwaite in 1990 and they had two beautiful daughters. Later divorced, and in time he and Jennie Killian found each other. She preceded Ryan in death seven months ago June 24, 2006. Her death left a great void that was never filled. He did find a special companion in Jessica Peterson who cared and loved Ryan during these past few months.
  His daughters, Avalon Rain and Aubrilynn Storm; his mother and her husband, Clark E. Jensen; his father and his partner, Mack Brown; four sisters and two brothers: Charlotte (Danny) Hutchinson, Colette (Michael) Shriver, Tony C. (Sherry) Jensen, Jaynann (Lafe) Harris, Nicole (Jeffery) Atkinson, and Darwin L. (Allison) Jensen survive Ryan.

Jennie Killian

Birth: Dec. 6, 1973
Death: Jun. 23, 2006
  Overcoming every challenge in her life and quick to find humor in everyday life, Jennie Killian Braithwaite passed away following a brief illness. The ninth of ten children born to James F. and Dorothy Reed Killian, she married Rion Braithwaite November 19, 2005. Rion brought two daughters; Avalon and Aubrilynn into their marriage. Jennie loved them as if they were her own.
  A high honors graduate of Provo High School and Rick's College, she enjoyed Gymnastics and cheerleading in high school. A skier, swimmer, rock climber, scuba diver, camper, collector of shoes and having fun can be listed as favorites of Jennie.
  Her husband, Rion; two-step daughters, Avalon and Aubrilynn; parents, Jim and Dottie Killian; siblings, Karen Killian, Sharon & David Barrus, Hal & Lasca Killian, Scott & Rebecca Killian, Lisa & Noji Ratzlaff, Sue & Dave James, Julie Killian, Shane & Andra Killian, and Becky Killian; 19 nephews and 10 nieces survive Jennie.

WELLINGTON- Carol Kay Durrant, 85, of Wellington, passed away Tuesday, February 4th.

She was born to the late Lee and Leah Kay, September 13, 1928, in Provo.

Carol graduated from Wasatch High School in 1947 and received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University in 1951. She married Wilford Durrant in 1965 and they lived together with their family in Green River before relocating to Wellington in 1991.

Filled with compassion and interest in others, Carol made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She was an active volunteer, an avid reader, and an advocate for wildlife and conservation. She was clever, outspoken, and fearless. Carol was a Fifth-Grade teacher until she retired in 1989 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Her love of learning and her teaching skills were legendary. She was a teaching virtuoso who made classrooms come alive for nearly four decades. Carol adored her large family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren warmed her heart, and her laughter and smiling eyes lit up the room during those wonderful moments when the family gathered in her home. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, considerate, loyal woman who gave without question, and held honesty, integrity, and courage in the highest regard. Carol was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her faith, and worked in various callings, including Relief Society President; however, her favorite calling was leading
the music. She often said “If you can’t sing, just make a joyful noise.”

Carol is survived by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Wilford Durrant. She is also survived by five children: Susan and Curt Dickson, of Price; Jan and Jeff Tingey, of Logan; Lee and Angelique Durrant, of Price; Charles and April Durrant of Boise, Idaho; and Ed and Julie Durrant, of Oro Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and one sibling, her sister Kathleen Allen of Mercer Island, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Virginia Rawley and Eloise Stireman, and her brother, Richard Kay.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wellington LDS 4th Ward Chapel (50 North 100 East, Wellington, Utah) A viewing will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, Utah (680 East 100 South) and also on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.


Harvey Alonzo Whitney Sr.

Harvey A. Whitney

MAPLETON, UT., - Harvey A. Whitney, 73, died Tuesday at 8 a.m. at his home here. He had been ill several days after suffering a heart attack.

He was born December 9, 1872, at Springville, a son of Leonard J. and Tryphenia Perry Whitney.

He married Claudia Johnson December 9, 1895 in Mapleton. The marriage later was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an active member and held the office of high priest.

He was a farmer and carpenter by occupation, but also had been a leader in civic affairs. He was an instigator of the Mapleton city water project and served as city building inspector.

He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 9, 1945. Of their 13 sons and daughters, 12 survive, in addition to the widow: Lawrence Whitney and Mrs. Bessie Thorn, Mapleton; Harvey A. Whitney Jr., Mack, Ray, Delmar and Frank J. Whitney, Springville; Lovell and LaVon Whitney, Salt Lake City; Perry and Glen Whitney, Provo, and Mrs. Mozelle Braithwaite, Ogden; also 41 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Mapleton LDS Ward Chapel Friday at 2 p.m. by Welby Warren, bishop.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Funeral Services Held Monday For Claudia Whitney

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Mapleton ward chapel for Mrs. Claudia Johnson Whitney, 79, who died Thursday at the Dee Hospital in Ogden after a two-weeks illness. Bishop Stewart Whiting was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Claudin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitney was born June 12, 1877, in Mapleton, a daughter of Aaron and Louisa M. Whiting Johnson. She had been a life-long resident of Mapleton until December, 1956, when she went to Ogede to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mozelle Braithwaite.

She was educated in Mapleton and Springville. She married Harvey A. Whitney, December 9, 1895, in Mapleton and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 28, 1925. Mr. Whitney died July 31, 1951.

She was the first ward organist in Mapleton Ward and was organist for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years. She was active in LDS Church organizations.

Surviving are eight sons and two daughters: Harvey A., Ray and Delmar of Springville; Glen of Provo; Harry of Odgen; Lowell and Lavon of Salt Lake City; Lawrence of Van Nuys, California; and Bessie Thorn of Mapleton and Mrs. Mozelle Braithwaite.

Also surviving are 45 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and three brothers, Louis A. and Elmer Johnson, both of Mapleton and Leland Johnson of Tooele.


Larry Lawrence Braithwaite

BIOGRAPHY:         A son of Laurence and Neva Norma Butcher Braithwaite, Larry died tragically six months shy of his 50th wedding anniversary when he lost control of his vehicle while heading home from a of day fishing at Strawberry. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, many years of his childhood was spent in Ely. When he married Barbara Johnson November 12 1955, he returned to Salt Lake City. A brick mason and a hard worker, Larry enjoyed working, fishing, hunting, camping, bowling and watching his grandchildren's ballgames. Striking up a conversation with old friends or total strangers, he loved to talk. People will never forget his stories, as he had many to tell, or his practical jokes that he played. Little children will never forget him as they were the love of his life.
   Surviving family members include his wife, Barbara; children: Mike (Teresa), Laurie Hemingway, Jon, Darren (Kelley), Jeff, Jodi (Rick) Littleford; 15 grandchildren: Colette, Mandy, Jake, Brad, Staci, Scott, Dylan, Cody, Witney, Landon, McKenzee, Brielle, Colton, Caitlyn; great-grandson, Dakota; siblings: Bob (Louise), Bud, Stan (Mary), Norma (Mel), Les, Alice, Marge, Faye (Richard), Connie (Jim), Judy. His son, Randy; parents; sister, Joyce; half sister and brothers: Gwen Chandler, Jack and Ray predeceased Larry.

George Washington Sowards

Baptism date of 7 jun 1879 also given on record which would have been in Paintsville Kentucky and was probably in the personal records of Rebecca Sowards Potter.  For some reason they were baptised again.

Sealed to parents record shows work was also done on 6 jan 1960 in the Las Angles Temple.

Dorothy Gibson Robey - Robert Lenox Pratt

Before a fireplace altar bedecked with white calla lilies, pink snapdragons and white candles in branched candelabras, Dorothy Gibson Robey exchanged nuptial vows, Thursday, with Robert L. Pratt at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. N. Gibson, 2005 Laird Drive. An uncle of the bridegroom, Alton Braithwaite, solemnized the rites.

The bride wore a gown of white satin and lace with a fingertip veil caught to a cap. She carried calla lilies and white orange blossoms and lace, a sister, Mrs. Hugh E. New, rosebuds. Her attendants were Mrs. Clyde R. Gibson and Mrs. Kenneth Bollinger. Best man was Jack Torgerson.

Guests of honor at the reception were Gov. and Mrr. Herbert Maw, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Braithwaite of Arco, Idhao, and the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Richardson.

Mr. Pratt is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lenox Pratt, 1582 E. 13th S. He is a former student at the University of Utah where he was affiliated with the Delta Phi.

Marilyn Innes Bride Of William Ray Pratt

Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. William R. Pratt were honored at a lovely reception Thursday evening in Colonial Hill LDS Ward. The couple spoke wedding vows that morning in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. New Mrs. Pratt is formerly Miss Marilyn Innes, a daughter of Mrs. Mary G. Innes, 1350 Elenmare and the late Dr. T. W. Innes. Mr. Pratt is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Lenox Pratt, 1562 E. 13th South.

Immediately following the marriage, Dr. and Mrs. Myron L. Crandall, 1140-17th East, honored the bridal pair at a wedding breakfast.

The bride greeted friends at the reception in a beautiful white satin gown styled with a large lace ruffle around the shoulders and dropping to a V in front. A band of the same lace decorated her long white sleeves. A lace bonnet held her bridal illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and carnations with an orchid center.

Bridal Attendants

Attendants, Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Mrs. C. H. Cannon, Mrs. John r. Powell, Mrs. Earl Torgerson, Miss Beth Wood and Miss Elaine Grover wore dresses of pink and orchid chrysanthemums.

Robert L. Pratt performed duties of best man, and Gerald Pratt, Robert Koch, Howard Bills, David Fry and Reed Johnson were ushers.

Greeting guests with Mrs. Innes, who wore a rose gown, was T. Reid Innes, brother of the bride. Mrs. Pratt chose an aqua colored crepe, and both mothers wore corsages of pine roses and carnations.

For her honeymoon trip, the bride wore a gray suit styled with small scalloped collars and cuffs. Her accessories were in black.

Prenuptial Fetes

Prenuptial parties were given by Mrs. T. Reid Innes, who honored the bride with a kitchen shower; Mrs. Earl Togerson and Mrs. Robert H. Blackhurst were hostesses at a bathroom shower; a novel grocery shower was fiven by Miss Beth Wood and Robert Koch; co-hostesses Miss Nancy Morley and Miss Joanne Chidester gave a personal shower; Mrs. Alta M. Hunter was hostess at a kitchen shower, and Mrs. Myron L. Crandell and her daughter, Miss Marylyn Crandall, entertained with a beautiful luncheon at their home.
