Johnsons Observe 63rd Wedding Anniversary, November 25
Mr. and Mrs. Alma Johnson will mark thier 63rd year of married life today, November 25, 1949, with a quiet day at home. They were Thanksgiving Day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Nielson.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were both born in Manti and have been residents of this city for their entire lives. Mr. Johnson, who will be 91 years old on December 2, is a son of Robert and Eliza Johnston Johnson. Mrs. Margart Johnson, who will be 83 on December 23, was born a daughter of Daniel and Amanda Bradley Henrie. They were married in the Logan Temple on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1886.
Mr. Johnson served a mission to the British Isles and was a stock raiser for many years. In later year he has worked in the Manti Temple. Mrs. Johnson has always been a home-loving woman and is the mother of 10 chidlren, 7 of whom are living. They include Alice Nielson, Stella Chapman and Robert and Evan Johson of Manti; Kate Mason of Plymouth, Utah; Vera Mills of Brigham City; and Ruth Peterson of Heyburn, Idaho.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have witnessed the growth of Manti through their years. Mr. Johnson was born when Manti was just 9 years old and the city was but 17 years old when Mrs. Johnson was born. Together with other oldsters, they have helped greatly in compiling facts for the Manti Centennial.
