Blast Is Fatal To Utah Miner

Delbert E. Lowry Misjudges Length Of Fuse For Shot

TOOELE, UT., June 25 - (By The Associated Press) - Injuries sustained in a premature blast at the Hill Top mines southwest of Vernal caused the death today of Delbert Edward Lowry, 19, who died in a speeding automobile as it rushed across the desert sands en route here for medical aid.

Young Lowry's working partner, whose name is unknown, was injured by the blast but not seriously enough to requite his being removed to a hospital.

Meager word received here indicates that the two men were setting a blast and that Lowry having cut the fuse to short, misjudged the time he spent in the hole after applying the match.

he had just turned to leave when the blast let go.
