Drowning Victim Rites Set

SANTAQUIN, UT., The body of Orson Taylor, 72, was found in an irrigation ditch which runs parallel to Center Street in Santaquin.

Mr. Taylor was last seen by his friends sometime Wednesday night, but the body was not discovered until Friday.

Utah County Sheriff Ralph Chapple stated that the victim's hat was found along the ditch about a half block from a bridge where the body was found.

It was Justin Lamb of Santaquin who discovered the body on Friday and reported to Santaquin Marshall Paul Callaway.

The body has been taken to Salt Lake City where an autopsy will be performed by order of County Attorney Dayle Jeffs.

Investigation into the drowning continues under the direction of Sheriff Cahpple and Marsahll Callaway.

Funeral services for Orson Elmer Taylor, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m., in the Santaquin-Tintic Stake Centery.

Friends may call at the Keith Jolley Mortuary in Payson Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the family home in Santaquin Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery.

Born June 26, 1899, in Goshen, Utah County, Utah, he was a son of George M. and Martha Ann Bowles Taylor. He married Eva Bartholomew August 16, 1916 in Provo. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ernest LeRoy Taylor, Spanish Fork; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Dodds, Santaquin; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Taylor, Santaquin; Milo Taylor, Taylorsville; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Ewell, Genola, Mrs. Lottie Skelton, Tooele; Mrs. Hattie King, Wellington, Carbon County; and Mrs. Daisy Thompson, Portland.

GRANGER, UT., - Robert Wilford Etherington, 66, 2938 W. Appleton Drive, died after a lingering illness December 13, 1967 in a Salt Lake Coutny rest home.

Born September 12, 1901, Terrace, Box Elder County, Utah, to James and Eleanor Warwick Etherington. Married Hannah Cook Douglas April 19, 1946, Salt Lake City. Member LDS Church. Retired Railroad.

Survivors: widow; daughter, stepdaughters, Mrs. Larry (Faye) Steel, Orem; Mrs. Kyle (Carol) Dean, Granger; Mrs. William (Sara) Phillips, El Cerrito, California; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Alcie Keston, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Funeral Saturday, 2 p.m., 260 E. South Temple, where friends call Friday 6-8 p.m., Saturday prior to services.

Contributions to Shriners Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers. Burial Ogden City Cemetery.

BIOGRAPHY: Robert and William Francis Braithwaite (brothers) and their families moved to Arco, Idaho in 1914 to homestead. Robert and David Braithwaite were hometeachers for William Francis Braithwaite's family.

Robert was born without a middle name.  
He assumed the name of Robert Francis  to distinguish himself from the other Robert Braithwaite's in Manti. He personally verified his name as Robert Francis Braithwaite to me and to my mother Lola Braithwaite Barton.
Manti South Ward Records, film 026,133, lists him as Robert Francis Braithwaite, baptized on 3 Dec 1884, by S. C. Hansen.

Attend Funeral For Former Manti Resident

A number of Manti people were in Salt Lake City to attend funeral services for Mrs. Robert (Emma Buehler) Braithwaite on November 25, 1958. Mrs. Braithwaite was a former Manti resident.

She is survvied by three daughters and one son, Alton B., Idaho Falls; Geniel Pratt, Salt Lake City; Alta Mae Dean, Salt Lake City; and Lola, Provo.

Services were held in the Rosequist Ward Chapel. Attending from Manti were Mr.a nd Mrs. B. C. Braithwaite, Mr. Clinton Braithwaite, Mrs. Beth Nielson, Mrs. Gene Braithwaite, and Mrs. Levi Hansen.

Nephi Child, 2, Dies In Ditch

NEPHI, UT., - Two-year-old Robert Glenn Braithwaite fell into an irrigation ditch in front of the family home and drowned Thursday about 7:15 p.m.

The boy, son of R. Carlisle and Etheylene Potter Braithwaite, apparently had been in the water for some time before he was found, according to Miles A. Anderson, Nephi fire chief. The child was found lodged under a foot bridge in from of the home, 295 E. 2nd North.

Mr. and Mrs. Braithwaite were in Salt Lake City on a business trip.

BIOGRAPHY: Our beloved mother and grandmother, Alta May Braithwaite Dean, age 89, passed away in her sleep on January 2, 1997 at Heritage Eastridge Rehabilitation Center after a lingering illness. She would have been 90 years old in three weeks.
  She, along with her twin brother, Alton, were born January 28, 1907 in Manti, Utah to Robert Francis and Emma Buehler Braithwaite.
  In her early childhood, her family moved to Arco, Idaho, where she was raised on a dry farm. She graduated from Brigham Young University and taught elementary education for many years in Idaho and in the Salt Lake and Granite School Districts. She was a court recorder and served as head of the Stenographic Bureau at BYU. She was also an assistant to Governor Herbert Maw during his administration.
  In 1942, she married Dr. Vaughn Hunter; later divorced. On June 19, 1952, she married Albert James Dean, founder of A.J. Dean and Sons Ready Mix Concrete, in the Manti Temple, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1974.
  She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings and positions including Stake Relief Society President; Spiritual Living Teacher, Ward Organist and Visiting Teacher. She attended the Temple weekly for nine years until her health failed her. She served LDS missions to Hawaii and St. Louis, where she was instrumental in bringing the gospel to many souls.
   She is survived by her sons, Michael David Dean (Partha) and her grandchildren, Cynthia, Lynette, Jeffrey, Leslie, Jonathan, Celeste, and Mary. She is also survived by her older sister, Geniel and her twin brother, Alton.
  Mom, we love you and miss you already, but look forward to our joyous reunion with you, Dad and our Savior.
  Funeral Services will be held in the East Millcreek Eleventh Ward Chapel, 2700 East Evergreen Avenue, at noon on Monday, January 6, 1997. Friends may call one hour prior to the services and also at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, on Sunday, January 5, 1997 from 6-8 p.m.

Dr. Vaughn Bennett Hunter, 87, died February 15, 1993, Pleasanton, California.

Born November 11, 1905 in Holden, Utah, 10th child to the late John Edward Hunter and Margaret H. Teeples.

Member LDS Church. Attended U of U., graduated from BYU, 1930, and the University of Oregon Dental School, 1934. Member of the Salt Lake Country Club for many years and won the CC tournament 3 years in a row. Life member Elks. He worked as a dentist for 40 years in Salt Lake City. Married Norma May Wagstaff in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Survived by Norma; children, Judy Caplan; Brenda Whitesides, Vaughn B. Hunter, Jr. all California; Shauna South, Utah; sister, Euphamia Terry; brother, Otto Hunter; 10 grandchildren.

As a dentist, he will be warmly remembered for his loving and caring ways.

Special gratitude to Norma for her care and devoted service.
