Roy E. Braithwaite Dies At Payson

A brother and sister in Manti received word Monday of the death of Roy E. Braithwaite, 54, of Payson. Mr. Braithwaite died in the Payson hospital Monday morning.

He was born December 21, 1900 in Manti, a son of Robert and Erika Thunell Braithwaite. He married Lottie Burraston on June 2, 1926 at Price.

Mr. Braithwaite worked at Tintic Standard Mines for 37 years and moved to Payson two and half years ago.

Survivors include his widow, two daughters, Velma and Linda, of Payson; two brothers and three sisters, Reuben Braithwaite and Mrs. Eugene Brown, Manti; Lawrence Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sidney Sperry (Eva), Provo, and Jennie, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the LDS Park Second Ward at Payson with burial in the Payson City Cemetery under the direction of the Rigby Mortuary."

Roy Easel Braithwaite was born December 21, 1900 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, a son of Robert Braithwaite Jr. and Erika Fredrika Thunell. On June 2, 1926 in Price, Carbon, Utah, he married Emma Lottie Burraston, the daughter of James Burraston and Ruth Esther Ercanbrack. He died July 11, 1955 in Payson and was buried July 14 in the Payson Cemetery. They had two daughters, Velma Braithwaite, who married Don Hurst Coray on September 4, 1958, and Linda Braithwaite.

Fred Smith Passes At 82

Funeral services for Fred Smith, who died at his home January 14, 1940, were held in the South Ward Cahpel, Thursday, January 18, 1940 , with Bishop Alma Peterson in charge.

The speakers at the services were, Andrew P. Madsen, William H. Peterson, James M. Anderson and Ray P. Lund. The Singing Mothers choir sand the opening and closing songs. Ernest Swalberg and Gilbert __dsted sang a duet, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine". The prayers were by Julius Jensen and Bishop Ray Chapman.

Mr. Smith is survived by his widow, Christina Rasmussen Smith; sons, Harry Smith of Manti; Clarence Smith of Richfield and Allen Smith of Gunnison; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Henningston of Manti; Mrs. Joseph Nielson of Manti; Mrs. James Hayhoe of Magna; ____ grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren."

Mrs. Smith Fails To Recover

Mrs. Christina Rasmussen Smith, 70, died Friday at her home here. She had been confined to her bed since Thanksgiving when, while visiting her son Alan Smith in Gunnison, she fell and broke her hip.

She was born in Junction City, Montana October 11, 1863, a daughter of S. Peter and Anna Mickelson Rasmussen. She was married to Fred Smith December 25, 1885 in Forrest City, Missouir and came directly to Manti, living her ever since. Her husband died January 15, 1940.

Three sons survive: Harry Smith, Manti; Allan Smith, Gunnison; Clarence Smith, sherrif of Sevier Couty, Richfield; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Henningson, Manti, and Mrs. James Hayhoe, Salt Lake City, 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister, Michael Rasmussen of Independence, Missouri and Mrs. Kate Shuler, Carmen, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were conducted in the ward chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. by Bishop Ivan Carlson. Friends called at the home Monday evening and Tuesday morning prior to services. Interment was in Manti City Cemetery."

She consistently demonstrated an unconditional love for her family and friends and made service her lifelong commitment. She is greatly loved and will be missed by all.Survived by sons and daughters, Bob and Mary Chandler, Shirley and Bob Allen, Carole and Tirey Bruce, Lynn and Jan Chandler; 41 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jack and Agnes Braithwaite[0], Ray and Leola Braithwaite[0], Bob and Louise Braithwaite[0], Bud Braithwaite[0], Larry and Barbara Braithwaite[0], Stan and Mary Braithwaite[0], Norma and Mel Schoell, Leslie Braithwaite[0], Alice Miller, Faye and Richard Greenhagen, Connie and Jim Sorensen and Judy Christensen. Salt Lake City, Utah - Norma Eva (Allen) Peterson passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. at Garden Terrace Care Center.

She was born 23 April, 1922 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Lee and Leah Margaret (Philliber) Allen.

She married Jack Braithwaite October 13, 1940 and they had three children. They were later divorced. At the time of her death she was married to Gerald Dean Peterson and they lived in Murrary, Utah.

She spent her first five years in Iowa, later moving to Ely, Nevada, where she attended White Pine High School.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald; three children: Barbara Jean Hunter, Alexandria, Virginia; Jack Allen Braithwaite and Richard William Braithwaite both of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren: Kimberly Hunter; Lyndsey Kocher, John Braithwaite, Michael Braithwaite, David Braithwaite and Mindy Braithwaite; six great-grandchildren: Natalie and James Kocher, Leah & Cyrus Braithwaite, and Ethan & Aiden Braithwaite.

Preceded in death by parents; sister, Elizabeth Margaret Martin; brother, Charles Wilbur Allen; and stepfather, Albert Green.

Taking great pride in his work as an experienced carpenter and contractor, Jack loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, camping and prospecting. Besides spending hours playing pool at the Riverton Senior Citizens Center, he enjoyed gardening and raising animals.

Clint Lynn Braithwaite "We Love You" Clint passed away peacefully October 4, 2010 after a long illness.

He was born to Robert C. and Louise Braithwaite June 24, 1964.

He was a graduate of Kearns High in 1982. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed being in Wendover.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, three daughters; Jenni (Travis) Syme, Cristy (Danny) Reilly, and Ashley Braithwaite, five grandchildren; Alexia, Konner, Dylan, Tayler, Kaitlyn and his dog Sierra.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road. There will be a viewing Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the mortuary.
