Grayce White
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Grayce White. She was born Feb. 4, 1921 to Byron and Ruth Driggs in Driggs. She passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2011 in Fort Collins, Colo. at the age of 90.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Grayce White. She was born Feb. 4, 1921 to Byron and Ruth Driggs in Driggs. She passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2011 in Fort Collins, Colo. at the age of 90.
Left to cherish her memory are two brothers, Harold Jack Driggs of Driggs and Donald Max Driggs of Pocatello; five children, Floyd Robert Hill of California, Carla Ray Bender of Fort Collins, Colo., Virginia Lee Griggs of Idaho Falls, Carol Ann Speirs of Idaho Falls and Judy Gonzalves of Victor; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Teton High School, Grayce left for Salt Lake City to work behind the counter of a soda foundation at Woolworths. She met and married Elmer Eugene Watters in 1943. Elmer was killed in North Africa April 6, 1944; Grayce was expecting her first child, Carla. She later married Ron White Dec. 23, 1945; they made their home in Driggs where Ron opened Elk Billiards sports shop with Grayce's brother, Kelly Driggs.
In 1954 Ron's sister and her husband were killed in a horrible accident by Burley, Idaho. Ron and Grayce took their three children, Floyd, Ginny and Carol Hill.
Grayce spent many hours sewing beautiful dresses for all the girls as they grew up. She also sewed and designed many costumes for the Teton High School Featherettes. Grayce was a fabulous cook and was well known for her famous cinnamon rolls. Ron and Grayce had an abundance of friends and enjoyed the chicken fry partied hosted by Bud and Cassie Hastings, Dale and Jan Robson and Charlie and Martha King.
In 1962 they again took another niece, Judeth Ann Driggs. She and mother spent many hours driving to Rexburg to shop in Grayce's later years.
Grayce loved to play cards; any afternoon if you stopped to visit you would find her at a table surrounded by good friends in a hot game of hand and foot.
Grayce's house was always open to strangers and friends. Ron could bring home some friends at lunch and Grayce would manage to make a meal for two stretch for six. Her favorite thing was to make a big pot of chili Christmas Eve and invited anyone who wanted to come and enjoy.
After Ron's passing Grayce took in another niece, Donna Marie Driggs. She became mother's help mate and constant companion until mother moved to Fort Collins due to health reasons where she remained under the care of her daughter, Carla, until her passing.
Grayce touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. A small graveside service will be held at the Driggs Cemetery Friday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. where she will be laid to rest next to her lifelong friend and husband, Ron.
Friends and family are invited to meet at the Stake Center in Driggs at 12 p.m. to visit with the immediate family and enjoy a light luncheon."

Funeral Thursday For Victim Of Tractor Rollover
Funeral services for Lou Wallace Tatton, 60, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Manti North LDS Ward. Friends may call Thursday prior to the services at the Buchanan Mortuary.
Mr. Tatton was killed on Monday evening at approximately 5:15 p.m. when the caterpillar which he was driving down a steep hill turned over and rolled over him. According to reports Mr. Tatton was doing some trench work for Bill Funk the day of the mishap. He had made a trench for a spring and also did some grading on a pond.
Mr. Tatton had just finished his work and started back to Manti. Funk went back for gas cans and lunch buckets. When he truned around he saw the dozer rolling down the hill.
Deputy Sheriff Eugene Tuttle said that the blade on the Cat had apparently goudged and thus caused the tractor to roll over passing over Mr. Tatton once and then rolling on down the hill.
The accident took place due west of Manti approximately four or five miles at the north end of Antelope Valley.
Mr. Tatton was born February 3, 1905 in Manti to James B. and Louisa Cox Tatton. He married Thelma Smith on April 23, 1928 in Spanish Fork. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a farmer. He operated his own sawmill and raised livestock. He was an elder in the North Ward.
Survivors include his widow; son, daughter, Mrs. Basel (Maurine) Bown, Clearfield; James R., Sunset; 7 grandchildren; brother, Ralph, Manti.
Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery."2Ancestry.com, Social Security Death Index, Name: The Generations Network, Inc.; Location: Provo, UT, USA; Date: 2009;, Jan 2012, www.ancestry.com.
