Forbush, Bill
Elmo "Bill" Forbush, 80, passed away Feb. 4, 2009, at his home in Parker surrounded by his family.
Bill was born March 21, 1928, in Driggs, the son of Elmer and Blanche Mackley Forbush. He lived in Bates (near Driggs) until the family moved to Salem, where he attended school in Sugar City. At 17, with permission from his dad, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Bill married Loretta June Kerswell on Feb. 16, 1949, in Idaho Falls. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Parker, where they raised their family. Bill was a jack-of-all trades. He worked at the AEL site in Arco, for Ross Dunn at Valley Block Plant and as a carpenter. He was a superb craftsman. He owned his own land-leveling business. He served as mayor of Parker for three terms. He later worked for Fremont County Road and Bridge and subsequently became the county road supervisor. After retirement, he became a Fremont County commissioner -- a leader among men. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. His love was home teaching, a goal of which was to always have 100 percent. His life was known by all for the love he expressed and demonstrated for his neighbors, friends and family. He was a big tease, a trait his daughters-in-law and grandchildren loved about him. With impeccable integrity and a smile on his face, he served his fellow man.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of Parker; children, Connie (Paul) Raymond of Nampa, Bruce (Holly) Forbush of Sugar City, Dennis (Teri) Forbush and Wayne (Trina) Forbush, both of Parker, Brian (Kitty) Forbush of Labelle, Brenda (Steve) Weber of Bountiful, Utah, and Craig (Lauri) Forbush of Parker; siblings, Harold (Florence) Forbush of Rexburg, Jack (Lynne) Forbush of Iona, Robert Forbush of Salem, Max (Julie) Forbush of Farmington, Utah, Lavon Clinton of Salem and Ellen Singleton of Wilford; 30 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren, with four on the way.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Madison Memorial Hospital and all those who worked for Rexburg Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Parker LDS church, with Bishop Jedd Stoddard officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Parker church and for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery, with military rites by the St. Anthony VFW and American Legion. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.bidwellfuneralhome.com.
