Lois Tooth Peterson Kribs

Lois Tooth Peterson Kribs, 82, of Manti, Utah, passed away July 23, 2004 in the University of Utah Hospital. She was fighting her second battle with cancer, but succumbed to complications from surgery.

Lois was born March 23, 1922 to Edward K. and Martha Carlson Tooth in Manti.

She graduated from Manti High School in the class of 1940. Lois attended Snow College for one year and then worked at the Parachute Company of Utah as a secretary.

In 1945 she married Afton Peterson. They divorced in 1967. Lois spent her early married years in Ogden as a busy young mother involved in many duties with the PTA, church, and Cub Scouts, In 1958 she went to work at Hill Air Force Base and later retired from the US Forest Service in Ogden. After her divorce she spent six years as a single mother raising three teenagers while working and taking college classes at Weber State College.

In 1973 Lois met and married Howard S. "Pinky" Kribs. They became constant companions and the best of friends. Pinky's work took them to California where they enjoyed living in several different cities and made many good friends. In1978 Pinky retired and they moved to Manti to take care of Lois's parents. Their later years consisted of extensive travel though out the United States visiting family and friends. Lois's passions in life included photography, politics, and currents events. But nothing meant more to Lois than spending time with her family, including the extended family she gained when she married Pinky. She was involved in Palisade Pales from its inception in 1981 and was a "pal" to everyone she met. Lois took great pride in the accomplishments of those she loved. We will love and miss her always.

Lois is survived by her husband of 31 years, Howard S. "Pinky" Kribs, two sons, A. William (Cindy) Peterson, Mayfield; Bruce M. Peterson, Manti; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, Dale Edward Peterson, infant son, and Martha Ann Peterson, and also her parents."
