St. George, UT - Joan Baker, age 78, passed away December 13, 2010, in Murray, UT.
She was born September 16, 1932, in Salt Lake City, UT.
She married David Eugene Baker in North Hollywood, CA, on May 18, 1957. One year later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They were married 54 years.
Joan was a loving, caring, and creative grandmother, mother, sister, and wife. She treasured her family, loved to travel, and enjoyed playing games such as Yahtzee or a raucous round of Hand and Foot.
She considered her sons and daughters-in-law to be her own children and felt truly blessed. Mom, you will surely be missed, but you will live in us through our wonderful memories.
She is survived by: husband, David; children, David A. (Janet) Baker, Renon (Leonard) Hartley, Richard M. (Georgia) Baker, and Saundra (Terry) Johnson; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with 5 more on the way; and a brother, Richard E. (Judith) Grisham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Gertrude Martineau Grisham.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Canyon Fourth Branch Chapel, 1610 N. Dixie Downs Rd., St. George, UT.
A visitation will take place prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel."

Robert B. "Sedg" Sedgwick
WARNER -- Robert B. "Sedg" Sedgwick, 78, of Warner and formerly of Bedford, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Concord Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1931 in Arco, Idaho, to Daniel and Jennie (Braithwaite) Sedgwick. He was raised and educated in Arco and graduated high school there in 1949.
He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Manchester and in August of 1955 married Norma Broek. They together lived in Bedford for more than 50 years.
He worked for 36 years as a lineman for Public Service of New Hampshire and retired in 1994 as a foreman. He also had his own handyman and landscaping business that he managed in conjunction with his being a lineman.
His family includes a son, Robert B. Sedgwick of Rochester, Vt.; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vonda Kalama of Hawaii and Rhea Radford of Idaho; two brothers, Leon Sedgwick of Washington and Joel Sedgwick of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Norma Sedgwick, and a daughter, Robyn Sedgwick.
IN HIS LIFE: Family also includes a daughter-in-law, Ginny Sedgwick of Rochester, Vt.; three grandchildren, Brandon Sedgwick, Sarah Turner, and Candin Massey; and former daughter-in-law, Heather Thornton of Maine.
When Mr. Sedgwick was not working hard, he enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, deep-sea fishing, bird watching, going to the beach, and collecting and making knives. Mr. Sedgwick was very active in the Manchester Church of Latter Day Saints for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Sedgwick, and his parents.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. The funeral is Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 105 Wind Song Ave., with Bishop Kevin Albiston. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. BEDFORD -- Norma Broek Sedgwick, 73, of Bedford, died Aug. 8, 2008, at Harborside Health Care Center.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1934, in Manchester, to Rutger and Pauline (Downy) Broek. She was raised in Hooksett and graduated from Manchester High School Central in 1952. She married Robert B. Sedgwick on Aug. 6, 1955.
She was a telephone operator and secretary at New England Telephone Company for more than 16 years, and after her retirement she worked for the town of Bedford.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking (especially cookies) golfing, and going to Rye Beach. She was a Deacon of the First Congregational Church and taught others by the life she led. She was a loving wife, mom, granny, sister, aunt and friend.
IN HER LIFE: She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Broek; and a daughter, Robyn Sedgwick.
Her family includes her husband of 53 years, Robert B. Sedgwick; a son, Rob Sedgwick and his wife Ginny of Rochester, Vt.; three grandchildren, Brandon Sedgwick, Sarah Sedgwick, and Candin Massey; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Moore of Littleton, and Ruth Foley of Midlothian, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

"Obituary: Ethylene Potter Braithwaite[0] Ethylene Potter Braithwaite[0] 1908 ~ 2005 Ethylene (Trix) Potter Braithwaite[0], age 97, of Mesquite, Nevada, was born in Park City, Utah, on May 11, 1908, to George Melbourne Potter and Rebecca Sowards. She married Robert Carlyle Braithwaite[0] on June 10, 1931, in the Salt Lake Temple. Carlyle, a life-long educator, passed away on October 20, 1956. Ethylene was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Braithwaite[0] Finlinson (wife of Fred W. Finlinson, formerly of Murray, Utah), and her two infant sons, Glen and Alden. Ethylene attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Before and after her graduation from college, she taught school in Levan, Utah, where she met Carlyle. After she and Carlyle were married, they moved to Nephi, Utah, where he taught at Juab High School for 20 years. In 1950 the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Ethylene taught home economics for 20 years at Olympus Jr. High School. Ethylene has served faithfully throughout her life in a variety of callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She completed a two year Stake Mission and an 18 month proselytizing/temple mission in the Virginia Roanoke Mission and in the Washington, D.C. Temple. She was still attending the temple and doing extraction for the Church when she was impaired by a stroke at the age of 90. Since that time, she has lived with her daughters in Mesquite, Nevada, and St. George, Utah. Ethylene is survived by her daughters, Carol (Rolfe J.) Jonson of Mesquite, Nevada, and Gail (E. Keith) Howick of St. George, Utah. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Grandview 3rd Ward, 2930 S. 20th E., Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, and at 10:00 a.m. Sat. at the Grandview 3rd Ward."
