John Thornton Buried At Monroe
Impressive funeral services were held at Monroe last Sunday afternoon at Monroe last Sunday afternoon for John Thomas Thornton, who died Wednesday, February 16, 1931 of pernicious anemia after a two years illness. The body was laid to rest in the Monroe Cemetery.
John Thornton was born in England, April 2, 1875. When just a small boy he emigrated with his parents to Utah, coming directly to Manti. On July 12, 1901 he was married to Susanna Mackey of this city. Twenty one years ago Mr. Thornton and family moved to Idaho and later to Monroe.
His widow and five chidlren survive him, they are Mrs. Mae Hanson, John, Lamont, Roy and Bud.
About thirty relatives and friends from Manti and Centerfield were in attendance at the funeral Sunday."
