It was a shock to the family and the community Saturday evening when Elmo Hill brought the word that Mr. Buchanan had died suddenly while gathering wood. Young Hill brought the sda news home and took back help to bring in the corpse.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Manti December 27, 1871, the son of the late pioneers, John and Adeline Coombs Buchanan. On September 21, 1898, he was married to Miss Eltora Christensen of Manti. Mantie has been their home since, except for a few years when the family lived at Clarion, Utah.

Surviving, besides his widow, are the following daughters and son: Mrs. Melvina B. Jennings of Clarion; Mrs. Alma C. Kenney; Wilva Buchanan; Irma Buchanan, all of this city, and W. G. Buchanan of Ogden. A grandson, a brother L. T. Buchanan and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Warren and a number of half-brothers and sisters survive.

Probers Blame Stalling In Ephraim Air Crash

EPHRAIM - A stall in a strong wind was listed as the cause of a fatal airplane crash Wednesday near the Ephraim-Manti Airport which claimed the lives of a former Utah couple and their two children.

Investigators from the State Aeronautics Commission, Federal Aviation Agency and the Civil Aeronautices Board probed the wreckage Thursday of the charred single engine plane that burst into fllames just short of the runway.

"The plane's inverted position indicated that it had stalled, probably while turning in strong winds," Harlon W. Bement, state aeronautics director, said.

Family On Visit

Killed in the fiery crash were Raymond Clifford Bradley, 35, Battle Mountain, Neveda; his wife, Shelleth RaNae Larson Bradley, 33, and their children, Scott Raymond, 8, and Peggy Ann, 5.

The Bradleys were on their way to visit their respective families in Ephraim and Moroni where they formerly lived.

They were preparing to land at the Manti-Ephraim Airport at the time of the accident. They had circled Ephraim twice to inform relatives of their imminent arrival at the airport and were apparently making the final turn preparatory to touching down on the runway when the plane crashed in an alfalfa field owned by Robert O. Anderson, Ephraim, flipped over and burned.

Daughter Survives

The couple is survived by another daughter, Rebecca, 12, who did not accompany the family on the Wednesday flight from Nevada to Sanpete County.

She will reside temporarily with Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Larson, parents of her mother.

Raymond Clifford Bradley was born June 17, 1928, in Moroni, a son of Clifford H. and Rhea Ames Bradley. In additon to his daughter and his parents, he is survived by a brother, Ronald Bradley, Moroni; a sister, Mrs. Pete (Verdeen) Jacobsen, Fountain Green, and a grandmother, Mrs. Hattie Ames, Moroni.

He served as a marshall at Moroni before moving to Battle Mountain six years ago where he managed a cafe. A veteran of the Korean War, he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Bradley was a counselor in the presidency of the Battle Mountain Branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. and Mrs. Bradley were married December 28, 1949, in the Manti Temple.

Mrs. Bradley was born December 30, 1929 in Ephraim, a daughter of Sheldon R. and Gladys Peterson Larson.

Other Survivors

In addition to her daughter and parents, she is survived by four brothers, Dr. Neil Russell, Richard and Glen Larson, all of Ephraim; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Flora Lee) Jorgensen, Mount Pleasant, and Linda Lou Larson, Ephraim and a grandmother, Mrs. Malinda Peterson, Manti.

Scott Raymond Bradley was born February 1, 1955, at Mount Pleasant and Peggy Ann Bradley was born February 12, 1958, at Battle Mountain.

Funeral services for the family will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the East and West Ward Chapel, Moroni. Friends may call at the chapel Saturday from noon before services. Burial will be at Moroni Cemetery.
