James Cope Foster (01/11/34-06/19/05)

Jimmy was born on 1/11/34 in Orting, Washington.

His death followed a long illness due to radiation exposure at the Nevada Test Site. His parents James C. Foster and Ella Case Foster preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Culver of Madras, Oregon and Phyllis (Allen) Houghton of Pentleton, Oregon, and many loved nieces and nephews.

His wife and life partner Sharron Foster, daughters ;Eileen Collins, Julie (Rick) Rowland, Dianna (Charles) Hand, Jamie (Arlie) Peck, eight grandchildren; Chandrika (Rick) Bender, Amy (Curtiss) Short, Christopher Marshe' (fiancee' April Peel), Richard Rowland, Deja (Steven) Peterson, James (Nichole) Rowland, Brandon Peck, Cody Peck, and 8 1/2 great-grandchildren also survive him.

Jimmy was a Korean War Veteran. He served on several ships but had a special attachment to the Ernest G. Small, a destroyer. He enjoyed meeting with the crewmates at reunions across the United States. He was one of the lucky people that got to enjoy a profession that he truly loved. He drove truck for 40 years and enjoyed all of the many people he met and places he got to see. He was a very skilled driver and traveled over 4,000,000 accident free miles. He drove logging truck for McGreggor Triangle, line driver for Boise Cascade and Wells Cargo. He was the drivers Union Stewart for many years. In 1980 he bought his first truck and leased to Ringsby Truck Lines. He taught his wife Sharron to drive and they traveled all over the United States. It was a special time in their marriage. In 1990 he founded J.C'sXpress, Inc., a flat bed trucking company. He always wanted to have a company that respected their drivers and treated them well. He retired due to bad health but always enjoyed stopping by the office to offer advise. It is truly a family run company with his wife Sharron, daughter Jamie, son-in-law Arlie, and grandson Christopher at the helm. As you might guess, chrome was his favorite color. Jimmy was a special person to all who knew him, He had an incredible sense of humor and found humor in every situation. He never has met a stranger, and was sincerely interested in everyone. He knew and loved people in all walks of life. Jimmy is going to be missed by all, but never forgotten.

In honoring Jimmy's wishes, we ask that everyone attending the services dress in casual dress. He hated suits and gloom and doom. It will be a celebration of his amazing personality and life.

Funeral services will be held at the Mountain View Mortuary, 425 Stoker Ave., Friday, June 24, 2005 at 12:30pm. Internment will follow at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada. His family would like to thank Dr. James Forsythe for his excellent care for the past 18 years.
