Former Manti Man Dies At Centerfield
Raphael Sims Buchanan, a native of Manti and who resided here until 1918, died Tuesday afternoon at his home in Centerfield after a lingering illness.
He was born in Manti, December 22, 1875, a son of John and Sarah Wilkinson Buchanan. He married Margaret Mae Braithwaite, October 10, 1900, in the Manti Temple. They made their home in Manti until
1918 when they moved to Centerfield where he engaged in farming until 1938 when he retired.
Survivors include his widow and nine sons and daughters, Mrs. Surelda Riches, Spanish Fork; Leonard, Eldred and Donald Buchanan, Gunnison; Earl, Jack and Glen Buchanan and Mrs. Twyla Jensen, Centerfield; and LaRay Buchanan, Casper, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, A. L. Buchanan, Centerfield and a sister, Mrs. Nellie B. Christensen, Manti.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at one o'clock in the Centerfield Ward Chapel by C. Dewey Lund, bishop. Friends may call at the family home in Centerfield until time of the services Friday.

Thomas Boyington left home at the age of nine years. After having joined the church of Jesus Christ of LDS, he emigrated to United States and came across the plains in a large company of saints under the command of Captain Willey. Thomas started from the state of Iowa and his handcart contained 100 pounds of flour, a little bacon, some bedding and a small supply of clothing. In October of the year 1856, Captain Willey's company reached the Sweetwater, which is the Great Basin Divide between the North Platte and the Green Rivers in wouthern Wyoming. The provisions dwindled to almost nothing and rations were doled out from the wagons with the most supplies. How weakened they were as they tried to travel in this condition and their plans had to be changed as the men became weaker day by day. They were so anxious to continue their journey to Zion but it was necessary for them to camp on the Sweetwater. Here they found some cattle which had died a year or two previously and their skeletons were left covering the ground. The members of this handcart company pulled off the hard, dried skins from the animals, cut them into strips, warmed the strips of skin over the fire and chewed the rawhide in order to sustain life. Many persons in the ill-fated Willey's handcart company died of starvation. He had the unique experience of awakening from his sleep one morning to find a dead man on each side of him, having slept three abreast in bed the night before. A part of horsedrawn wagons rescued the survivors and arrived in Salt Lake City Nov. 9, 1856. Thomas declared: "I was so hungry that if there was a loaf of bread on the other side of a fire, I would go through the fire to get the loaf of bread."
In 1864 Thomas returned to the Mississippi River for a load of emigrants. Hannah became his bride in 1865. They lived on their farm across the Sanpitch River to the north of the Gunnison Reservoir in the summertime. In the winter the family lived in a comfortable adobe house in the City of Manti [another interesting view!- MG]. They were both members of the LDS Church. Their home was a gathering place for the youth; many is the time that "Daddy Boyington" kept the fires burning while the young people enjoyed themselves in dance and merrymaking.

Thomas was a farmer and stockman. They were rugged hard working people and devoted Latter-day Saints. The friends of this large family loved to gather at the Boyington home where they were always welcomed and had good times together.
Thomas was tall in stature and had dark curly hair. It is said that he applied for the king's guard and passed all the requirements but one. He was only 6 feet 1-1/2 inches tall -1/2 inch too short.
Hannah was of slight build with dark hair, as remembered by her grandson Gerald Henrie who was nine years of age when she passed away. She was fussy about her clothes, especially with her shoes.

Hannah came from a well-to-do family. She was of small stature, being thin, had dark hair and was known for her lovely disposition. Her health was fair and she was of a religious nature. Her father passed away and was buried in England and it was in the schools of England that she received her education. [An interesting difference of view from other Braithwaite histories!- MG]
When her future husband was asked, "Why don't you court Hannah?" Thomas replied, "She is too fancy for me." However, he must have "courted" her. Another misconception that Thomas had of Hannah was: "She would never know how to work," but Hannah certainly proved the contrary in spite of her small build. She was a good Relief Society member of the LDS Church. She was a friendly neighbor and was particularly good to visit the sick.

Sarah A. Boyington Passes After Illness
Sarah Ann Boyington died at her home in Manti at 11:15 Wednesday afternoon, her 76th birthday anniversary. Death came after a lingering illness.
Miss Boyington was born in Manti, July 16, 1876, a daughter of Thomas and Hannah Braithwaite Boyington, and had always lived in Manti. She had been an active church worker, serving as a Relief Society visiting teacher in the North Ward for many years, teaching the Religion Classes held after school hours in past years, and doing much temple work.
She is survived by one sister, Nettie M. Boyington, Manti, and a niece whom she helped to rear, Mrs. Elga Henrie Larsen, Ephraim, also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Ward Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the home, 305 West 5th North Friday and Saturday until time of the funeral. Services Wednesday For Nettie M. Boyington
Funeral services for Nellie Milbrough Boyington, 75, were held in the Manti North ward Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Frank Wanlass conducting. Miss Boyington died Saturday at 6:15 a.m. in a Payson hospital after a lingering illness.
She was born August 25, 1884 at Manti, a daughter of Thomas and Hannah Braithwaite Boyington and
was a lifetime resident of Manti. She was an active member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include a niece whom she reared, Mrs. Calvert (Elga Henrie) Larsen, Ephraim.
An account of the funeral will be published next week.

Services Wednesday For Nettie M. Boyington
Funeral services for Nettie Boyington, 75, were held in the Manti North Ward last Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Frank Wanlass conducting. She died the preceding Saturday following a lingering illness.
Prelude and postlude organ music for the funeral was played by Reva Hatch. The prayer in the home was by Tom Maylett, the invocation by Henry Maylett, the benediction by Gerald Henrie, and the graveside prayer by Howard Ludwig.
Speakers were C. G. Braithwaite, Osmond Olsen and Bishop Wanlass.
The musical numbers included "O My Father" by a girls quartet, Loran Tucker, Judy Harmon, Mary Cox and Pamela Peterson; a vocal duet, "In The Garden," by Jane Mickelson and Girven Stott, both numbers accompanied by Reva Hatch; a vocal duet, "I'm A Pilgrim," by Melba K. Armstrong and Maurice Nielson, accompanied by Ardith Peterson, all of Ephraim and a vocal solo, "Lay My Head Beneath The Rose," by Merrill Maylett.

Funeral Services For T. R. Boyington
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the North Ward Chapel for Thomas R. Boyington, 72, 1 Manti farmer and stock grower, who died at his home after an illness of three weeks.
Mr. Boyington was born in Manti August 12, 1866, a son of Thomas and Hannah Braithwaite Boyington and had lived in Manti all of his life. On March 8, 1894, he married Mary E. Thunell in the Manti Temple. He had been a temple and ward worker all his life.

Native of Sweden Dies At Son's Home
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thunnel Boyington, 75, died at the home of a son, Clinton Boyington, at 1:40 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 1948, of causes incident to age. She had been seriously ill for less than 24 hours, a blood clot in the heart.
Mrs. Boyington was born in Uppsala, Sweden, September 4, 1873, a daughter of John S. and Erika Forsberg. She came to Utah with her parents when she was 12 years old. They settled in Fountain Green, but moved to Manti a short time later.
Mrs. Boyington had been a visiting teacher in the Relief Society for 40 years, was a member of the Manti Missionary Fund committee and had been an active worker in the Primary Association. She had been a worker in the Manti LDS Temple for the past eight years.
She was married to Thomas r. Boyington, March 17, 1894, in the Manti Temple. He died June 10, 1939. Surviving Mrs. Boyington are her son, Clinton, Manti; three daughters, Mrs. Lillie B. Hendrickson, Provo; Mrs. Selma B. Clayton and Mrs. Elma C. Bushnell, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Isaac P. Thunell, now serving on a LDS mission to Sweden, and Fred Thunell, both of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Held --
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Manti North Ward Chapel by Bishop Girven Stott. Louise Hulme played preliminary music and also directed the ladies chorus which sang the opening song, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." A nephew, Jay Fred Thunell of Logan offered the invocation, and Virginia Barton sang "Lay My Head Beneath A Rose, " with Maude Reid as accompanist. Other musical numbers included a vocal duet, "Whispering Hope, " by Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Johnson, and "O My Father" by the ladies chorus.
The benediction was by a nephew, Richard Thunell of Logan, and the grave was dedicated by a brother, Fred Thunell, Salt Lake City. Six nephews and one grandson served as pallbearers.
Speakers were John C. Kelso, Mrs. Annette King, President L. R. Anderson and Bishop Stott of Manti; Sidney B. Sperry, a nephew-in-law, Prove, and Howard Childs, a nephew of Salt Lake City.
Mr. Kelso told of being acquanited with the Boyingtons for forty years and of the close friendship that had developed between the families, how he and Mr. Boyington had observed jointly their common birthday anniversary. He spoke of Mrs. Boyington's work in the church, that she taught right living to all she met, continually urged people to read the scriptures, that she would be remember for her kindness and her love for her neighbors whom she helped whenever she could be of assistance.
Mr. Sperry said to try to praise Mrs. Boyington's life was like trying to guild a lily. He spoke of her love for the gospel and told of living neighbors to her father and mother during his childhood and commented on what a fine LDS family they were. He told of frequent visits to her home in Manti and said she was always a woman who loved the gospel and the blessings of the temple. He referred to her brother who is now in Sweden on his third mission for the church.
Mrs. King said it has been 21 years since she and Mrs. Boyington were counselors to President Sarah Hougaard in the Primary Association. She spoke of Mrs. Boyington's faithfulness and also related how she had often said when it came her time to die, she hoped it would be in the time of flowers. The speaker then commented what a perfect tribute the many flowers were to Mrs. Boyington.
President Anderson told of the fine work Mrs. Boyington in the temple and of her worthiness for the work and impicit faith in the gospel and in her friends. He quoted scripture which states that faith is the moving cause to all action and said Mrs. Boyington approached perfection in this matter. He told of her love for her native land and for her adopted country, and also spoke highly of her parents.
Mr. Childs spoke of her as a wonderful mother and told how he liked to visit the home and partake of her hospitality and kindness. He said hers had been a prayful family and he appreciated her good teachings and the good influence she had had on him.

Services Held For Samuel Henire
Funeral services for Samuel Henrie, who died April 15, 1935 of septemia poisoning, were held Wednesday, April 17, 1935, in the North Ward Chapel, Bishop E. T. Reid conducting.
The prelude, a violin solo, "Guide Me To Thee", was played by Mrs. Myrtle McQuire of Price; P. A. Poulson offered the invocation, after which Walter Stingham sang a solo, "Absent". The speakers were A. J. Juddd, Ambrose Tuttle, W. L. Hall, John R. Nielson Jr., and Bishop E. T. Reid, all of whom expressed words of comfort and consolation for the bereaved. The deceased was referred to as kindly neighbor, a man who took a keen interest in the welfare of his children, and whose hobby seemed to be visiting with his neighbors. His slogan in life was, "if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all."
Interment was in the Manti Cemetry.
Samuel Henrie was born February 23, 1866 at Manti. He was the son of Daniel Henrie and Susan Coleman Henrie. As a young man he did work in railroading. Later he became a well-driver and cattle raiser. He moved to Canada in 1900, selling his cattle to Alex Barton.

Mrs. Samuel B. Henry who was taken to the state mental hospital last week died in that institution Wednesday and the remains will be brought to Manti today.

Mrs. Samuel B. Henrie
Funeral services were hled in the tabernacle last Monday over the remains of Mrs. Samuel B. Henrie of this city who died in Provo last week and was brought home Friday.
She had been suffering for some time. When her case became chronic, she was taken to Provo on March 13 where she died March 24, 1920.
Mrs. Henrie was 52 years of age, she was married to Samuel B. Henrie in 1900. She leaves her husband and two children, a boy age 16 and a girl age 12 to mourn her loss.

Services Held For John Boyington
John W. Boyington, 68, farmer and stock raiser of Manti, died at his home Tuesday, December 27, 1936 of a lingering illness. He was the son of Thomas Boyington and Hannah Braithwaite Boyington.
He is survived by his widow, Jane D. Boyington, two daughters, Geniel Boyington and Della Mickelson, of Manti, also one brother, Thomas R. Boyington; two sisters, Nellie and Sarah B. also of Manti.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the North Ward Chapel. Music was furnished by the ward chorus. Mrs. Vera Keller sang, "Going Home", Easton Moffitt played a violin solo and Merrill Maylett sang "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine."
The speakers were J. H. Carpenter, Henry Maylett, John P. Nielson, H. L. Bench, E. T. Reid, and Bishop C. G. Braithwaite. Prayers were given by Geral Henrie and Girven Stott. Jane D. Boyinton Buried At Manti
Jane D. Boyington, 77, died in Manti at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Calvin Michelson, on Wednesday evening, December 9, 1953, of causes incident to age.
She was born in Manti, April 14, 1876, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Mackey Davenport, spent her childhood in Manti and attended Manti schools.
She was married to John W. Boyington in the Manti LDS Temple, February 13, 1894, and he died in 1938.
Mrs. Boyington had always enjoyed her home and has been a lover of flowers, caring well for her garden plots. She had done much beautiful hand work all of her life. She was an active member of the North Ward Relief Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Della) Mickelson of Manti and Mrs. Spencer (Geneil) Douglas, Dragerton; one brother, James Davienport, Boise, Idaho; four sisters, Mrs. Howard (Elizabeth) Madsen, Ann Boyington, Mrs. Ambrose (Alice0 Tuttle) and Mrs. Clyde (Miranda) Buchanan, all of Manti, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Held --
Funeral services were conducted in the Manti North Ward by Bishop Keith Stevenson. The prayer in the home was by Farrell Funk of Sterling and prayers at the service by Henry Maylett and Bent Peterson.
Prelude and postlude music was played on the organ by Louise Hulme. Other music included "The Lord Is My Shepherd" by a trio of Carol Lorwry, Lillie Keller and Maurine Johnson; vocal solos, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" by Merrill Maylett and "Beyond The Sunset" by Mrs. Jane Mickelson, all accompanied by Mrs. Hulme, and vocal solo, "In The Garden" by Ernest Scow, accompanied by Mrs. Scow.
Speakers included Ambrose Tuttle , Albert Anderson and Calvin Keller.

Death Comes After Long Illness
After three years of very poor health Robert A. Boyington died at his home, January 28, 1936, of heart trouble and other complications.
Mr. Boyington was born May 16, 1871, at Manti. He was the son of Thomas and Hannah Braithwaite Boyington. Until his health failed, he followed the occupation of a farmer.

Funeral Thursday For Ann D. Boyington, 81
Funeral services for Ann Davenport Boyington, 81, will be held Thursday, February 11, 1960, in the Manti North Ward Chapel, with Bishop Frank G. Wanlass conducting. Mrs. Boyington died at her home in Manti last Sunday.
She was born in Manti, August 17, 1878, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Mackey Davenport. She has always made her home in Manti and on November 29, 1899, was married to Robert A. Boyington in the Manti LDS Temple. He died January 28, 1936.
Mrs. Boyington was an active member of the LDS Church, having a long record of service in the Relief Society. She was also a temple worker for many years.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Howard Madsen, Mrs. Ambrose Tuttle and Mrs. Miranda Buchanan, all of Manti; 2 sons and 3 daughters, Lloyd S. and Layfe T. Boyington, Mrs. Lloyd (Leah) Johnson, all of Manti, Mrs. Roger (Lucia) Greaves, Ephraim, and Mrs. Ray (Eunice) Aldrich, Mt. Pleasant; by 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The services will be at 2 p.m., with friends invited to call at the home prior to funeral time. Andrew L. Merriam Funeral Held Tuesday
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Andrew Lytle Merriam, 82, who died on Friday of last week of a heart ailment. The services were in the Manti North Ward Chapel, with Bishop Calvin Keller conducting.
Mr. Merriam was born in Manti, January 11, 1869, a son of Amasa and Olive Lytle Merriam. He has always made his home in Manti, where he has worked as a farmer, dairyman, lumberman and was manager of the Manti cheese factory for several years.
He married Mary Eliza Boyington in Manti December 19, 1894, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Mrs. Merriam died Apil 9, 1928.
Mr. Meriam was a charter member of the Manti I.O.O.F.
He is survived by four sons and daughters: Lytle and Edgar Merriam, Manti; Mrs. E. L. (Ruby) Winn, Kinelworth; and Lloyd Merriam, Bonwawie, Nevada; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Orisa) Anderson, Manti; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Prelude and postlude music for the service was by Mrs. Louise Hulme. Musical numbers included vocal solos, "The Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" by Merrill Maylett, and "Goin' Home" by Sam Parry, both accompanied by Pauline Parry.
Speakers included William Nielson, Chalres Stilson, Henry Maylett and closing remarks were by Bishop Keller. The speakers told of the history of Mr. Merriam and his activities through life. They said he had grown up in Manti in its early days, that he shared many pioneer experiences, and that he was a hard worker. They told of his being a man of the mountains and made mention of his work in the dairy industry.

Services Held For Mrs. Merriam
Funeral servies were held yesterday afternoon over the remains of Mrs. Andrew L. Merriam who died at the family residence last Monday evening. Bishop E. T. Reid conducted the services.
The speakers were Bishopo N. R. Peterson, bishop's counselor, John R. Nielson Jr., Ray P. Lund, President L. R. Anderson and the closing remarks were made by Bishop Reid. Invocation was offered by David Thygerson and the benediction was pronounced by Ambrose Tuttle. Musical numbers were rendered by the Ward Choir and a special vocal number was rendered by Mrs. E. E. Johnson. The speakers bore testimony to the fine character of the departed, emphasizing her generous service as a Relief Society worker and her devotion as a mother and wife.
Mrs. Merriam passed away Monday, following an operation performed for appendicitis last week. She was born in Manti October 31, 1874, 54 years ago, the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Boyington. She married December 19, 1894 to Andrew L. Merriam.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, Lytal, Edgar, Lloyd and Mrs. E. L. Winn, three grandchildren and six brothers and sisters, as follows: Thomas R., John W. and Robert A. Funeral Held For Henry Maylett, 84
Funeral services for Henry Maylett, 84, were held in the Manti North Ward Monday at 2 p.m., with Bishop Frank Wanlass conducting. Mr. Maylett died at his home Thursday after a heart attack.
He was born in Manti, June 13, 1876, to W. F. and Margaret Wilson Maylett. He married Amanda Jane Boyington in the Manti Temple, March 7, 1900. She died May 25, 1930. He married Harriet Thomas in the Manti Temple, July 25, 1933.
Active in church and civic affairs, Mr. Maylett served as a Manti City Councilman for 16 years, was a board member for the Manti Irrigation Company and the Manti Cheese Company. He was a well known farmer and stockman.
Survivors include his widow, two sons and three daughters, Mrs. T. L. (Laverne) Chapman, Mrs. Girven (Helen) Stott, Mrs. Reuben (Lynn) Tucker, Thomas A. and Merrill Henry Maylett, all of Manti; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, including David Thomas, Blanch Ostlund, Mrs. Merrill Gottfredson, Mrs. Arthur Hughes, Mrs. Fayne Laney, Mrs. Lavar Hill, Mrs. Ellie Henrie, and a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Tuttle, Manti.
Prelude and postlude music for the services was by Bertha Christensen, with other music including selectiions by the Matni Mael Chorus, directed by Ellis E. Johnson and accompanied by Mrs. Johnson; a vocal solo by Don Gottfredson and a vocal duet with musical reding accompaniment by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stott and Mrs. Jane S. Mikkelsen, Mrs. Evelyn Bradley accompanying.
Speakers werre Merrill Gottfredson, Anddrew Judd and Wilford Frischknecht.
Prayer in the home was by David Thomas, with prayers at the services by J. W. Sott and Clark Keller.

Mrs. Maylett Died Of Dropsy
Mrs. Henry Maylett died of heart failure and dropsy at her home in Manti, Wednesday, May 28, 1930. Although she has been suffering with this illness for about four years, her death came rather unexpectedly.
Mrs. Maylett was born at Manti October 8, 1880. She was married to Henry Maylett in the Manti Temple March 7, 1900.
Surviving her are her husband and four children, Mrs. T. L. Chapman, Mrs. Girvin Stott, Thomas and Merrill, three brothers and two sisters, T. R. Boyington, Robert Boyington, John W. Boyington, Sarah and Nettie Boyington; aslo three grandchildren, Burke and Doris Chapman and Carl Stott. One child, a daughter, preceded her mother to the grave.

Joseph Smith Braithwaite was a beekeeper by trade and sold honey and vinegar. The dozen or more hives were kept in rows among his fruit trees. The trees were kept trimmed and beautiful. After his wife died and his daughters became married and left, he continued to keep his house and yard tidy. he also cooked for himself to the extent that he mixed and baked his own bread.
He was a talented man and carved with his pocket knife a beautiful replica two feet tall of the Manti Temple which was kept in a glass cage in his parlor on a small table. This temple now stands in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Other evidences of his talent were large gilt framed pictures composed of butterflies & moths of different sizes and colors. Some of his arrangements are on walls of relatives homes today & are almost as bright and pretty as when they were first collected and pinned on the background of the pictures.
The Braithwaites were musical & had fine singing voices. Joseph had an accordian on which he could play almost any tune he ever heard and was willing to play it.
A special attraction at his home was a bright green parrot called Polly. The children were delighted when it talked to them. They loved to see it shell large sunflower seeds with its beak & eat the nuts inside.

Joseph Braithwaite Dies At Provo
Joseph S. Braithwaite died Monday night, March 26, 1934 at the old folks' home at Provo. He was buried in the Manti Cemetery Thursday afternoon.
Joseph Braithwaite, who was a beekeeper and nurseryman, was born in Westmoreland County, England, September 14, 1844, the son of Roland and Hannah Braithwaite. Shortly after the family joined the LDS Church, the father died. The mother with seven children came to Utah arriving in Salt Lake City in October, 1863, having crossed the plains in Captain McCarthy's Company. The family then came direct to Manti.
Mr. Braithwaite took an active part in the Black Hawk War, and was an expert entomologist. He married Esther Taylor November 18, 1873. Joseph Smith Braithwaite was a beekeeper by trade and sold honey and vinegar. The dozen or more hives were kept in rows among his fruit trees. The trees were kept trimmed and beautiful. After his wife died and his daughters became married and left, he continued to keep his house and yard tidy. he also cooked for himself to the extent that he mixed and baked his own bread.
He was a talented man and carved with his pocket knife a beautiful replica two feet tall of the Manti Temple which was kept in a glass cage in his parlor on a small table. This temple now stands in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Other evidences of his talent were large gilt framed pictures composed of butterflies & moths of different sizes and colors. Some of his arrangements are on walls of relatives homes today & are almost as bright and pretty as when they were first collected and pinned on the background of the pictures.
The Braithwaites were musical & had fine singing voices. Joseph had an accordian on which he could play almost any tune he ever heard and was willing to play it.
A special attraction at his home was a bright green parrot called Polly. The children were delighted when it talked to them. They loved to see it shell large sunflower seeds with its beak & eat the nuts inside.
Esther TAYLOR was born 25 Jan 1855 in Manti, Sanpete, Ut. She died 19 Aug 1915 in Manti, Sanpete, Ut and was buried 23 Aug 1915 in Manti, Sanpete, Ut. Esther married Joseph Smith BRAITHWAITE on 28 Nov 1872 in Manti, Sanpete, Ut.

OBITUARY: The Manti Messenger, Friday 12 May 1911:
Dies In California.
Harold T. Braithwaite, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Braithwaite of this city, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Atwood, in Alameda California, last Monday in his 26th year. He was born and raised in this city having left here last July.
The body arrived here yesterday and the funeral will be held today at 2 o'clock.
He was the last surviving son of Mr. and Mrs. Braithwaite, they having lost two others.
Later in the same issue:
Mr. Henry Atwood arrived yesterday from California with the remains of H. T. Braithwaite. Mrs. Atwood was the sister at whose home the young man died. He was accompanied by Mrs. Louisa Coyle, formerly of Manti. Death of Mr. Braithwaite resulted from Nephrites or Bright's disease.
