BERNARD BARNSON DIES AT JUNCTION
Bernard Barnson,75,died at his home here Saturday after more than a week's illness of heart trouble.
He was born at Manti, October 27,1857, a son of Christian B. and Marie Anderson Barnson, who were married at sea on their way to the United States from Denmark. On December 28, 1882, he married Elizabeth Hannah Braithwaite. He moved with his wife a children to Junction May 19, 1895, and for many years lived on the Barnson ranch four miles from Junction, moving into town in the winter.
He was called to Mexico in September 1878, where he assisted in the LDS conlonization.
Besides his widow, he is survived by the following sons and daughter: Mrs. Clarissa Baler, Driggs, Idaho: Mrs Elizabeth Rudd, Mrs. Laverna Barlow, Mrs. Lora Beebe, Chris B. and Irvin Barnson, Junction: and Rowland Barnson, Salt Lake: two sister, Mrs. Theresa Barnson Rogers and Mrs. Marie Jolley, Los Angeles, 51 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren,

He was born at Manti, October 27, 1857, a son of Christian B. and Marie Anderson Barnson, who were married at sea on their way to the United States from Denmark. On December 28, 1882, he married Elizabeth Hannah Braithwaite. He moved with his wife and children to Junction May 19, 1895, and for many years lived on the Barnson ranch four miles from Junction, moving into town in the winter.

As cattle was not remunerative he changed to sheep, and now has a herd of 2,500 head, mostly on shares. He was married in the Manti LDS Temple November 16, 1889, to Annie, daughter of J. Conrad & Margaret Kellar, born in Germany, February 12, 1871. They have had four children, Margaret, Leah and Fred L., living; John C., deceased.

Services Held For J. R. Braithwaite
Funeral services for Jon Rowland Braithwaite, 75, who died at his home on his golden wedding anniversary, Monday, November 20, 1939, after a short illness, were held Wednesday in the Center Ward Chapel.
The song, "The Lord's Prayer," was sung by the Singing Mothers; Bishop C. G. Braithwaite gave the opening prayer after which a solo was sung by Melroy Kjar.
The speakers were Julius Jenson, L. R. Anderson, Edgar T. Reid, Ray P. Lund, and Bishop William H. Peterson.
Carol Braithwaite and Morgan Lund played instrumental music and Sam Parry sang, "Going Home." Andrew Madsen gave the closing prayer and the grave was dedicated by Ed P. Cox.
Mr. Braithwaite was born in Manti, December 5, 1864, and had lived here all his life. His life's occupation had been farming and sheep raising. He married Anna Keller of Manti, November 20, 1889.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Braithwaite; a son, Fred L., of Manti; four daughters, all of this city, Mrs. Margaret Lund, Mrs. Leah Alder, Mrs. Lee Mellor, Mrs. Claire Tollstrup; two brothers, Joseph and Martin Braithwaite of Manti; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bronson of Junction, Utah and Mrs. May Buchanan of Centerfield, Utah; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."

Annie K. Braithwaite Passes, Buried Here
Funeral services for Annie Keller Braithwaite were held on Saturday, May 8, 1954. Mrs. Braithwaite, 83, died the preceeding Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Mellor, of causes incident to age.
She was born in Obeyettengen, Germany, a daughter of Conrad and Margrehta Kusmel Keller. At the age of seven she immigrated with her parents to this country and has since lived in Manti. She was married to John Rowland Braithwaite in 1889 in the Manti LDS Temple and he died November 20, 1939.
Mrs. Braithwaite was an active member of the LDS Church. At one time she served as first counselor in the Relief Society and was a faithful visiting teacher for many years. She was a member of the Old Folks Committee, the Genealogical Committee and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by a son, Fred L. Braithwaite of Manti; four daughters, Margaret Lund, Leah Alder and Ruth Mellor, Manti, and Claire Tollestrup, El Monte, California; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Jensen, Manti and Mrs. Mary Domgaard, Fort Collins, Colorado; and one brother, A. D. Keller, Price.
Services --
Funeral services were conducted by Bishop B. C. Braithwaite of the Manti Center Ward. Prelude and postlude music was played by Jane Braithwaite. Other music inculded a vocal duet, "Mother Machree" by Dorothy Larsen and Thera Lou Hickman, accompanied by Thera Lou; a vocal solo, "In The Time Of Roses" by Sam Parry, accompanied by Pauline Parry, and a trio of Helen, Morgan and Wilbur Lund sang "Beautiful City". A tribute to grandmother, written by Grace Madsen, was read by Janice Braithwaite. She also read a tribute to mother.
Speakers were Rudy B. Cheever, Calvin Keller and Ray P. Lund.
The prayer in the home was offered by Alphonso Henrie, the prayer at the funeral by William Nielson and Pratt Allreed, and the grave in the Manti Cemetery was dedicated by Dr. Ray Munk."

Services Held For T. Braithwaite
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Thomas Braithwaite who died at his home Sunday afternoon. The services were presided over by Bishop Alma Peterson in the South Ward Chapel.
Opening music was rendered by the choir, "Oh My Father", prayer, J. W. Stott; speakers, Ray P. Lund, Andrew Madsen, and J. Hatten Carpenter. Special musical numbers included vocal solos by Mrs. Edwin Nielson and L. M. Kjar, and musical reading by Elaine Parry. The closig son, "Some Time We'll Understand", and the benediction was given by C. O. Whitting.
Thomas Braithwaite has been a lifelong resident of Manti, being born here on April 4, 1867, the son of Rowland and Hannah Ormandy Braithwaite. He received his education in our local schools, after which he entered the farming and sheep business. At this occupation he spent the remainder of his life.
On June 19, 1894, he was married to Ida Crawford. A daughter, Ida was born to this union, at which time the mother died. On May 19, 1897, he married Nora Crawford. She, together with one son, four daughters and sixteen grandchildren survive him. The children are Jay Braithwaite and Mrs. Eugene Carpenter of Manti; Mrs. Afton Williams, Carlon, Nevada; Mrs. Kenneth Rasmussen, Ephraim; Mrs. Willis Draper, Freedom; three brothers, Martin, John R. and Joseph Braithwaite, Manti; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Barnson, Junction; Mrs. Raphael Buchanan, Centerfield. His wife, all of the children, his brothers and sisters were in attendance at the funeral.
Mr. Braithwaite has lived his life well. He has been a fine husband and father, a good neighbor and citizen. It has been said that no one ever was allowed to leaave his home hungry, and that he was always kind to those less fortunate than himself.
He was laid to rest in the Manti City Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Bishop C. G. Braithwaite."

Services Held For T. Braithwaite
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Thomas Braithwaite who died at his home Sunday afternoon. The services were presided over by Bishop Alma Peterson in the South Ward Chapel.
Opening music was rendered by the choir, "Oh My Father", prayer, J. W. Stott; speakers, Ray P. Lund, Andrew Madsen, and J. Hatten Carpenter. Special musical numbers included vocal solos by Mrs. Edwin Nielson and L. M. Kjar, and musical reading by Elaine Parry. The closig son, "Some Time We'll Understand", and the benediction was given by C. O. Whitting.
Thomas Braithwaite has been a lifelong resident of Manti, being born here on April 4, 1867, the son of Rowland and Hannah Ormandy Braithwaite. He received his education in our local schools, after which he entered the farming and sheep business. At this occupation he spent the remainder of his life.
On June 19, 1894, he was married to Ida Crawford. A daughter, Ida was born to this union, at which time the mother died. On May 19, 1897, he married Nora Crawford. She, together with one son, four daughters and sixteen grandchildren survive him. The children are Jay Braithwaite and Mrs. Eugene Carpenter of Manti; Mrs. Afton Williams, Carlon, Nevada; Mrs. Kenneth Rasmussen, Ephraim; Mrs. Willis Draper, Freedom; three brothers, Martin, John R. and Joseph Braithwaite, Manti; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Barnson, Junction; Mrs. Raphael Buchanan, Centerfield. His wife, all of the children, his brothers and sisters were in attendance at the funeral.
Mr. Braithwaite has lived his life well. He has been a fine husband and father, a good neighbor and citizen. It has been said that no one ever was allowed to leaave his home hungry, and that he was always kind to those less fortunate than himself.
He was laid to rest in the Manti City Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Bishop C. G. Braithwaite."

Nora A. C. Braithwaite Passes
Mrs. Nora A. Crawford Braithwaite, 78, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Rasmussen, in Ephraim, Monday evening after a lingering illness.
She was born in Manti, June 11, 1874, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Snow Crawford. She attended school in Manti and has always made her home in the Temple City.
She is a past president of the Manti Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and had been an active member of the South Ward.
She was married to Thomas W. Braithwaite in the Manti Temple on May 19, 1897. He died May 21, 1941.
Survivors include a son, Jay Braithwaite, Manti; four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Fawn) Rasmussen, Ephraim; Mrs. Afton (Della) Williams, Carlin, Nevada; Mrs. Willis (Ida) Draper, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Eugene (Lucille) Carpenter, Manti; a sister, Mrs. Grace Heesch, San Leandro, Califronia, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Manti South Ward Chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the home of Jay Braithwaite in Manti on Friday evening and Saturday prior to the services."

FUNERAL: The Manti Messenger, 21 APR 1960
Funeral Held For Joseph Braithwaite
Funeral services for Joseph (Doce) Braithwaite, 90, were held in the Manti South Ward Tuesday, April 19, 1960 at 2 p.m., with Bishop L. Glen Anderson conducting. Mr. Braithwaite died at a rest home in Mayfield Saturday, April 16, 1960 at 4:30 a.m.
He was born in Manti, July 12, 1868, to Rowland and Hannah Ormandy Braithwaite. He married Marie Simonsen, September 12, 1902, in the Manti LDS Temple. She died August 24, 1938.
Mr. Braithwaite has resided in Manti all of his life. He has been a farmer and an acitve church member. He was a sports fan, a noted square dance caller and a neticulous gardener.
Survivors include a son, Leon, of Salt Lake City, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren."

Mary A. Braithwaite
Funeral services for Mary Ann Braithwaite, 86, were held in the Manti Center Ward Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with Bishop R. Morgan Dyreng conducting.
Mrs. Braithwaite died Wednesday in a Provo hospital of natural causes. She was born July 5, 1875 in Manti to Jens and Miren Anderson Hansen. She married James O. Braithwaite, August 9, 1893 in Manti. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He died April 4, 1937.
She was a lifelong resident of Manti and an active member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include 4 daughters, two sons: Mrs. Royal (Geneva) Bown, Mrs. Leonard (Reba) Alder, Mrs. Gomer (Lida) Edmunds, Clinton J. Braithwaite, Miles R. Braithwaite, all of Manti; Mrs. Bryant (Gladys) Nelson, Ferron; 24 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.
The Manti Center Ward Relief Society Singing Mothers sang, "Jesus The Very Thought of Thee" and "Peace I Leave With You." They were directed by Mrs. Bernice Barnett and accompanied by Mrs. Maude Frost. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Johnson sang "In the Garden."
Speakers for the services were Ray P. Lund, William McFarlane and Bishop Dyreng.
Prayer in the home was by Remo Braithwaite with invocation by Elliott Braithwaite and benediction by Levi Hansen.
Burial was in the Manti City Cemetrey with the grave being dedicated by Stanford Madsen."

Attend Relatives Funeral In Idaho
Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bown, Mrs. Mary A. Braithwaite and Clinton Braithwaite of Manti and Mrs. Bryant Nelson of Ferron, left Tuesday for Homedale, Idaho for the funeral services of their son and brother, Blain Braithaite, who died at 1:30 Monday morning in the Idaho Falls LDS hospital of an extended illness.
A native of Manti, he is survived by his widow and three sons, Jimmy, Jerry and Glen Braithwaite of Homedale; his mother, Mrs. Mary Braithwaite of Manti; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Royal Bown, Clinton Braithwaite, Miles Braithwaite and Mrs. Bryant Nelson of Ferron.
Funeral services were to be held Wednesday afternoon in the Homedale LDS Ward Chapel with buril following in the Homedale Cemetery."

Minnie Braithwaite Funeral Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Ahlstrom Braithwaite, 72, were conducted by Bishop B. C. Braithwaite in the Manti Center Ward Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Braithwaite died at her home at 6:40 a.m. Saturday of pneumonia after ailing for a few weeks.
Mrs. Braithwaite was born at Ephraim, December 20, 1878, a daughter of Peter and Mary V. Bunderson Ahlstrom. She moved to Manti when a child and had lived there since. She was married to George Riley Braithwaite on December 23, 1903, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died December 22, 1916.
Mrs. Braithwaite had served as a Relief Society visiting teacher from the time of the division of the wards up unitl recent years. Active in other church work, she served as principal of Religion Classes in the Center Ward for a number of years. She always made care of her home and the welfare of her family a primary interest.
She is survived by two daughters and a son, Mrs. L. Glen Anderson (Bernice) and Elliott R. Braithwaite, Manti and Mrs. Orville Evershed (Laura), Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. L. T. Buchanan and Rufus Ahllstrom, Manti, Mrs. A. L. Buchanan, Centerfield; Mrs. Malinda Luke, McKinnon, Wyoming; V. P. Ahlstrom, Salt Lake City, and Frank Ahlstrom, Provo.
The Funeral
The prayers in the home was by L. Glen Anderson and those at the funeral were by Alphonso Henrie of Manti and Clifton Ottosen of Salt Lake City. Musical numbers, all by special request of the family, were "Nearer, My God, To Thee" by the Center Ward ladies chorus, Mrs. Della Cox accompanying; vocal solo, "Face to Face", Claire Dyreng accompanied by Ruth Anderson, and "Rock of Ages" by the ladies chorus. Prelude and postlude organ music was by Ruth Anderson.
President L. R. Anderson was the first speaker and chose a religious theme, centering around the plan of salvation and the eternity of the human soul.
Charles G. Braithwaite spoke in praise of the character and life of deceased and told of her many fine qualities, her love for her family and their love for her.
Gerald Carpenter gave a nice talk on the neighborliness of Mrs. Braithwaite during the thirty years they had lived as neighbors and cited many occurences during that time showing her thoughtfulness and kindness.
Mrs. Elda Freschknecht read several beautiful selections of poetry which had been complied by Mrs. Braithwaite who was a lover of poetry.
Bishop Braithwaite made closing remarks, quoting scriptural passages which would give comfort and hope to the family.
Burial in the Manti City Cemetery was under direction of the Buchanan Mortuary and the grave was dedicated by Roy D. Mellor."

Born January 22, 1877, Manti, Utah to Roland and Hannah Ormandy Braithwiate.
Member Manti South LDS Ward. Farmer, stockman.
Married Mabel Clair Buchanan June 28, 1899, Manti LDS Temple. She died 1944.
Survivors: sons and daughters, Remo, Lucien, both of Ephraim; Leland R., Mrs. Robert (Mabel) Nelson, both of Salt Lake; Mrs. Neoma Steck, Manti; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Joseph Braithwaite, Manti; Mrs. May Buchanan, Centerfield.

Funeral services will be held in the Manti South Ward Chapel Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Mable Clair Buchanan Braithwaite, 68, who died at the family home Wednesday afternoon.
Born in Manti, Mary 24, 1878, Mrs. Braithwaite was a daughter of John and Sarah Wilkenson Buchanan. She had always lived in Manti and was married to Robert Martin Braithwaite, June 28, 1899, in the Manti Temple. she was an active worker in the LDS Church, especially the Relief Society, and had also been very active in taking care of the sick.
Survivors include five sons and daughters, Remo and Lucien Braithwaite of Ephraim, Mrs. Naoma B. Steck and Leland R. Braithwaite of Manti, and Mrs. Robert Nelson of Elsinore; one sister, Nellie R. Christensen, Manti; three brothers, Thadesu R. Buchanan, Manti; Raphael S. and Archie L. Buchanan, Centerfield; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the home Friday evening and Saturday prior to the services. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery."
