Bonnie Lee Turner Payne
Bonnie Lee Turner Payne, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the age of 78 of heart failure.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Bonnie was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 19, 1929. She was the first child of Glenn and Reeta Turner. She enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by loving family who taught her gospel values and service.
She attended BYU where she fell in love with Reed Payne. They were sealed on September 24, 1949 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Their early years were spent in Chicago raising their family and enjoying lasting friendships. In1969 they moved to Palos Verdes, California where they continued their legacy of church service, love for family, and love for life. Lindon, Utah became their home in their later years. Bonnie benefitted from new friendships and opportunities for church service as she had done all of her life. After the loss of her dear husband Reed in 2004 Bonnie continued to enjoy a life surrounded by her large extended family and friends
Bonnies church service was extensive, especially loving the years she spent in the Palos Verdes Singles Ward and in the Church Hosting program. She also was very active in politics, serving as President of Republican Women organizations in California and Utah.
Bonnie had a natural love for family, friends, and life. She was never shy to express her opinion with a smile, she wanted to know all the details of your life, and she was anxious to see the latest scary movie. Bonnie loved youth, and they loved her. Her boldness was tempered by her charm. Her vim and vigor for life was infectious. Her spirit never weakened as her body struggled for strength. Thanks mom for showing us how to make the most of life.
Bonnie is survived by her children Wendy Braithwaite (Larry), Debra Blackburn (Dennis), Glenn Payne (Valerie), Reeta Ormsby (Daniel), 25 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her siblings, Sharon Stucki, Suzanne Merrill, and Randall Turner.
The family would like to thank Jamestown Assisted Living Center where she spent her final days, surrounded by caring staff and friends who she loved. The constant care of her brother-in-law and physician Dr. Steven Merrill is also greatly appreciated.
Funeral services will be held Wed, Jan. 30th at 12:00 pm at the Lindon 12th Ward chapel: 325 N. Canal Drive, Lindon..
