Calvin Keller

1Obituary, Feb 2012. "Obituary in the Manti Messenger   26 November 1898.". " Funeral services for Calvin T. (Tom) Keller, 59, will be held in the Manti North Ward Friday, March 21, 1958, at 2 p.m. with Bishop Frank G. Wanlass conducting.

Mr. Keller died at his home Monday afternoon, March 17, 1958, of a heart ailment, following an illness of seven weeks.

He was born in Manti, July 21, 1898, a son of Jacob and Dorthea Westenskow Keller. He attended Manti schools, the University of Utah, USAC and BYU.

He married Lillie Barton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1925 and they have made Manti their home throughout their married life.

Mr. Keller was active in community affairs, giving willingly of his time for many activities. He had served as a member of the Manti City Council. He was a veteran of World War I and an active member of American Legion Post 31, having served as post commander. He was a prominent stockman and farmer, enjoying a multitude of friends as business acquaintances.

An active member of the LDS Church, he served a mission in the Southern States from 1919 to 1921. He served as YMMIA president in the Manti North and South wards, was M Men leader in the North Ward and a member of the MIA Stake Board. He served as Bishop of the Manti North Ward for five years and at the time of his death was a member of the South Sanpete Stake High Council.

He is survvied by his widow of Manti; three sons and two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Higbee of Jamacia, British West Indies; Ray, Jacob and Kathryn Keller, all of Manti, and Karl Keller, Salt Lake City; four brothrs and a sister, Curtis, Jesse, Frank and Dorothy Keller all of Manti and Lamont of Santa Cruz, California; and by eight grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery under the direction of the Buchanan Mortuary with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 31."

Services Held For Calvin T. Keller

Funeral services for Calvin T. Keller, 59, were held in the Manti North Ward Chapel Friday, March 21, 1958, with Bishop Frank G. Wanlass conducting. Mr. Keller died at his home March 17, 1958 following an illness of 7 weeks.

Prelude and postlude music for the service was by Mrs. Jane Braithwaite. Other music included selecitons by the North Ward Male Chorus, conducted by Ellis E. Johnson and accompanied by Maude Reid; a vocal solo by Douglas Keeler, accompanied by Caroleen Willardsen and Keller Christensen, accompanied by Mrs. Keller Christensen; a quartet of Derilys Rowe, Mrs. Lucille R. Wintch, Bart and Del Rowe, accompanied by Mrs. Keeler.

Speakers for the service were Benjamin Hulme, J. Elliot Camron, Lionel King and Bishop Wanlass. Resolutions of Respect from Manti High School were read by Merrill Maylett.

The prayer in the home was offered by Girven Stott, with prayers at the funeral by Lee R. Barton and Elmer Ludvigson.

Burial was in the Manti City Cemetery under the direction of the Buchanan Mortuary, with the grave being dedicated by Paul Keeler. Military rites were accorded by American Legion Post 31."

The social event of last week was the fine wedding reception given Friday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Barton in compliment to their daughter, Lillie, and Calvin Keller who were married in the Salt Lake Temple the preceding Wednesday.

A hot supper was served to one hundred guests. Roses and peonies were the table decorations. Following the supper a delightful evening was spent enjoying many musical numbers and reading selection and social chat."

Blake M. Edwards

GUNNISON, Utah--Our beloved husband, father, son, and brother, Blake Melvin Edwards, died Sunday, August 1, 1999, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born April 27, 1957, in Gunnison, Utah, to Don H. and Ila Duffin Edwards. He married Coleen Nielsen, April 29, 1977, in the Manti LDS Temple.Blake was a Deputy Sheriff in Sanpete County and previously served as a police officer for Gunnison City. He was sought after as a skillful photographer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Coleen of Gunnsion; two children, Brittney and Colby Edwards of Gunnison; parents, Don and Ila Edwards, Gunnison; two brothers, Larry (Debbie) Edwards, Syracuse; Leslie (Carrie) Edwards, Gunnison; sister, Melanie E. (Cory) Hammond, Salt Lake City. Blake also has many adoring nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Mae Duffin and Stanley and Ruby Edwards.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 5, 1999 at 12 noon in the Gunnison Stake Center, where friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery. Blakes death reminds us that life is short and loved ones are precious. Goodbye Blake. We will always love you.

Our loving son, brother and friend, Colby Blake Edwards, 30, passed away on August 15, 2012 in Gunnison, Utah.   

He was born on June 4, 1982 in Gunnison, to Blake and Coleen Edwards.

Colby was a member of the LDS church and an Eagle Scout.  He was an avid "Utah Jazz" fan and loved basketball.  He was an amazing uncle and loved his niece and nephews more than anything else in life.  He attended SUU and was employed at Sears during his college years.   
Colby was currently employed at Applied Composite Technology in Gunnison.
He beat all odds after an industrial accident in June.  Everyone was amazed by his fast recovery.  Colby appreciated the care he received from all of his doctors, nurses and EMTs during that time, especially the care from Dr. Wade Anderson, PA.

Colby is survived by his mother Coleen (Darwin) Ogden, Gunnison; his sister, Brittney (Austin)Salt Lake City; grandparents, Don & Ila Edwards, Gunnison; his niece and two nephews, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Blake Edwards and his grandmother Beth Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 21012, at 11:00 am in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center. Friends may call at the Gunnison Stake Center on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery.Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti."
