Rea Hassell

REA HASSELL Rea Dawn Clark Hassell, 80, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

She was born in Elsinore, Utah, but was a raised in Las Vegas since early childhood. She was the son of Joseph L. Clark and Crystella Bagley, both deceased.

Before retiring, Rea spent most of her life working in the medical field. She had earned her EMT, and was a hospital manager Las Vegas Hospital during the 1950's, worked in medical records at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, St. Rose De Lima in Henderson, and for many area doctors. Never afraid to try a new career, Rea also owned and operated a drive-in restaurant in Prescott, Ariz. during the 1970's. Rea was an avid square dancer, loved to travel, and enjoyed many other hobbies. She was a great seamstress, enjoyed machine knitting, oil painting, baking and cooking. She always had the desire to learn and try something new.

Rea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold H. Hassell; and a son, "Little Bill" Staples.

She is survived daughters, Karen D. Shanley of California, and Kimberly Watson (Greg) of Las Vegas; son, Gregory P. Van Katwyk of Reno; daughter, Charlyn Duran (Duane) of Colorado; step-children, Leslie Sexton, (Chalma Lee) of Haughton, La., Mary Cogburn (John), Sacramento, Calif., and Michael Hassell (Jodi) of Richland, Wash.

She is also survived by her brother, Jan Bagley (Anne) of Salt Lake City; and step-brother, Jack Tacker of Las Vegas. Rea had seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She leaves behind and will be missed by many close friends and extended family.

REA HASSELL Rea Dawn Clark Hassell, 80, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

Gladys Naomi Davison

YAKIMA - Gladys Naomi Davison, 93, died Monday, December 22, 2003 at Chandler House. She was born December 27, 1909 in Odessa, Missouri to Elva Ottie (Ham) and James Elias "Buck" Wernex.

She moved to Hill City, Idaho at a few weeks of age where her father homesteaded. Gladys went through the eighth grade there and then moved to Selah. She played basketball and was valedictorian of her Selah H.S. class. Gladys went on to Ellensburg Normal School and after graduating taught at Smith Prairie, Idaho. There she met and married George Davison in April 1933.

They moved to Seattle and she worked for Boeing during WWII. She later worked with her husband who was a homebuilder.

Survivors include a daughter, Cleone (Luis) deLeon of Yakima; two sons, Lyle (Pam) Davison of Clarkston, Wash. and Keith (Bev) Davison of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her parents; her husband, George; two infant daughters; and two brothers preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, December 29 at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel."

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Margaret Bayles Taylor, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT.

She was born May 18, 1921 in Blanding, UT to Hanson Durham and Caroline Lyman Bayles.

After graduating from San Juan High School, mom went to Westminster College in Salt Lake City and later to Brigham Young University, where she met her first husband, Russell “H” Denison. They had one daughter. They were later divorced.

In 1949, she met and married Homer A. Taylor, with whom she had three daughters. They were later divorced.

As a single mother, mom worked hard to support her family. She worked for the State of Utah, Reed Hurst Trucking, and San Juan County. She and her sister Marian also co-owned and operated the Dairy Queen for over 20 years. Mom was a hard worker and a good provider. She taught her children to work and be responsible

She taught her family the gospel not only by word, but by example. Her dedication to the LDS Church was evident through the many years she taught in the Primary and Sunday School.

Mom loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them at every opportunity. They loved to play games, roast marsmallows and read.

Mom loved to share her hobbies and talents, including quilting, sewing and crocheting, with her family. She was not just a great grandmother, she was “Great” and that was what they all called her.

Mom is survived by her daughters: Hansene Bleak (Jim) of Thatcher, AZ; Teresa Lucas (William), Mesa, AZ; Tammie Barton (David) of Blanding UT; Lisa Bunting (Tracy, deceased) of St. George, UT; sister Marian Bayles of Blanding, UT; brother Platte D. Bayles (Marilyn) of Toquerville, UT; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, son Tommy Johnson Taylor, son-in-law Tracy M. Bunting, sisters Carol Hurst and Mildred Bayles, and brothers Reed, Francis and Hanson.

Funeral services were held in the Blanding LDS Stake Center on Saturday, February 27, 2010 under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary, Kanab, UT."

Shirley Rae Saunders Moss

OGDEN - I, Shirley Rae Saunders Moss, 70, died Sunday, July 14, 2002 at my home of amyloidosis and multiple myloma, a very painful combination of diseases.

I was born July 3, 1932 in Ogden, to Arthur P. and Sarah DeYoung Saunders. I graduated from Ogden High School in 1950.

I married my sweetheart, Clyde R. Moss, on March 17, 1965. On April 25, 1969, we solemnized our vows in the Logan LDS Temple.

I held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many lasting friendships.

My employment was with Thiokol for 33 years before retiring in 1992.
Clyde and I have made many wonderful memories as we camped, fished, hunted, and traveled with our family. We wintered in Quartzsite, Arizona and summered with our family here in the Ogden area.

I appreciate the out pouring of love and concern from my family and friends. All of them, in their own way, made my last days comfortable and pain free. I love you all. Take care of each other.

I leave behind my husband, Clyde R. Moss; my children, RaeLynne (Bob) Allen, St. Johns, Ariz.; Jean (Michael) Vomvas, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Jim (Judy) Strank, North Ogden; Ed (Cris) Strank, Farr West; Gerri Ann (Dale) Bolen, Thornton, Colo.; my step-children, Greg (Darlene) Moss, Clearfield; Jolene (Jerry) Poorte, Ogden; Suzanne (John E.) Delosta Peterson Schultz Olsen Poulson, age 93, died March 14, 2001, at the East Lake Care Center in Provo, Utah

She was born November 2, 1907, in Sterling, Utah, to Martin Peterson Jr. and Hannah Malinda Dennison.

She married William Arthur Schultz May 19, 1926. Marriage later solemnized Jan. 18 1945. He died October 27, 1945. She married Evan Olsen, March 34 1962. He died July 19, 1968. She then married Ralph W. Poulson June 2, 1973. He died March 4, 1984.

She was a noble and valiant daughter of our Heavenly Father and leaves a great legacy of love, service and devotion to her family and friends.

She was always thinking of others before herself. She served on ward and stake levels of the Primary and YWMIA. Her special love was working with the primary children. All who knew her were touched by unconditional love, her smile, and singing. Even to the end she remembered the words to every song she sang.

She is survived by four daughters: Lola Dee Bartell, Bountiful; Verda Mae (Eldon) Mortenson, Roosevelt; Arthella (Doyle) Larsen Ephraim; MirLynn (Burke) Jackson, Lehi; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren' 18 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Myrland Peterson, Ogden; one sister, Mildred Johnson, Manti; one sister-in-law Lorraine (bard) Nelson, SLC; two step children, Kenneth (Jennie) Poulson, Park City; Carol Nielsen, Ephraim.

Redmond, Utah - Betty Denison Lewis, age 76, of Redmond, died July 30, 2007 in Richfield. She was born July 22, 1931, in Sterling, Utah, a daughter of Merlin and Lila Swenson Dennison. She graduated from Manti High School.

Betty married her lifetime sweetheart, Adelbert "Dell" Lewis on March 15, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple. Dell died December 4, 2005.

She served in the Relief Society, Primary and in the Young Women organization of the LDS church and had various positions in all. She loved to bake, sew, work in her garden, and go camping. She loved doing "anything" with Dell.

Betty will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.

She is survived by her children: Glen and Natalie Lewis of Aurora; Pauline and Charles Keeran of Las Vegas, NV; Mark and Charmaine Lewis of Redmond; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister Faye Christiansen of Salt Lake City, Ut; brother-in-law: Carl and Ramona Lewis of Redmond.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Murrey Jack Edwards; a grandson: Travis Charles Keeran; three brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Redmond 1st LDS Ward Chapel.

Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery."
