Lynne Maylett Tucker Burt, 76, died December 18, 1994 in Provo.

Born June 30, 1918 in Manti, Utah to Henry and Amanda Jane Boyington Maylett.Lynne was an active member of the LDS Church, taught the nursery class for 25 years. Served as a counselor in the Relief Society. Served on the Manti Old Folks Committee. With her husband, Herman, she was in charge of the Bishop's Store House for eight years.

Married Ruben Tucker in Manti on February 16, 1951; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died August 7, 1968. Married Herman Bert in the Manti LDS Temple on September 12, 1969; he died November 27, 1994.

Survived by stepchildren, Donald H. Burt, E. Brent Burt, Paul L. Burt, Lee E. Burt, Kenneth R. Burt, Thomas R. Burt, Jean Myrup, Darrell Tucker, Shirlene Stoven, Lorna McKnight; one brother, Merrill Maylett, Manti. Preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tom; two sisters, Laverne Chapman and Helen Stott.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 22, 1994, at 12 noon, in the Manti LDS Tabernacle. Viewing Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the tabernacle, and Thursday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Mortuary."

Vonda Genata Peterson Merriam

MANTI: Vonda Geneta Peterson Merriam, loving wife, mother and grandmother, returned to her heavenly father, and her eternal companion, on June 15, 1999 at the age of 88, following complications of a stroke.

She was born January 10, 1911, to John J and Nelzina Marie Peterson, in Manti, UT. Married Edgar Merriam June 10, 1930. Sealed April 15, 1950, Manti Temple.

Survived by nine living children, Mary Ursenbach, Mt. Pleasant, Drew (Joy) Merriam, Manti, Connie (Toy) Hansen, Taylorsville, Anna May Thomas, Manti, Wayne (Debra) Merriam, Sante, CA., Vonda Rae Poulsen, West Valley City, Diana (Dennis) Clark, Riverton, Burdell (Marsha) Merriam, Cedar City and Jo Lynn (Richard) Lund, Tucson, AZ.; 23 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. Vonda also had three very special adopted daughters, Jean, Sandy and Suzann,

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Louise Kump, two grandchildren, three sons-in-law, sister and brothers.

Vonda lived and raised her 10 children in Manti, Utah. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Teaching her children love, responsibility and the joy of hard work. Vonda was extremely talented with her hands. She taught not only her children these talents, but her grandchildren as well. She created and made hand made gifts for her whole family for Christmas, sometimes giving up to 10 quilts per Christmas. She was known as Grandma Merriam throughout the neighborhood always having homemade cookies for the neighbor children. Vonda and her husband always cured their own meat, teaching her son and grandson the family recipe. No one ever left Vondas house hungry. Vonda was a talented writer and author of many stories published in the Saga of the Sanpitch. Vonda had a great capacity for love. Her greatest love was her family who deeply loved her in return. She never had a lot of material things, but was completely content and happy with her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. God speed grandma, give our love to grandpa, dont forget the rainbows.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 1999 at 12 noon at the Manti Tabernacle, 100 South Main. Friends and family may call from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery under the direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home."

"  Edgar Drew Merriam 1932 ~ 2005 Edgar Drew Merriam passed away of a massive heart attack at the place that he loved the most, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Drew was a man that believed in a hard day's work. He was employed by Nell's Motor for over 40 years. He was a civic minded man who believed in serving his community. He served as Manti's Fire Chief for 16 years and 30 years overall on the Manti Fire Department. He coached Little League baseball before and after his sons were of age. He was a member of the Riding, JC's, and Lions clubs. His family was his life and he was happiest when he was surrounded by them. He supported his children in everything they wanted to do, and if you asked him, his grandkids and great-grandkids were the smartest, most talented, perfect kids in the whole world. He was a loyal friend and enjoyed having coffee with his friends every morning at the cafe. He was a courageous man who proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was a wonderful person and he will be missed by so many people. Drew was born second of ten children to Edger and Vonda Merriam on December 11th 1932. He passed away April, 17th 2005 at his summer home in Grassvalley. He is survived by his wife Joy Merriam of 50 years, daddy's little girl: Sandy (Keith) Nunley, sons: Troy (Mandee) Merriam, Todd (Lorrie) Merriam, 10 grandchildren five great-grandchildren, two brothers, five sisters, four sister-in-laws. Preceded in death by: parents: Edgar and Vonda Merriam, Joy's Parents Leo and Louise Christensen, two sisters, seven brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April, 22nd 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at the White Tabernacle Church, 42 West 100 South, with viewings Thursday night from 7 p.m. til 8:30 p.m. and that day from 10:30 to 12:30. MANTI, Sanpete County - Lytle Merriam, 70, Manti, died of a heart aliment Saturday at his home. Born November 6, 1895, Manti, to Andrew L. and Mary Eliza Boyington Merriam. Married Iretta Hansen December 26, 1923, Salt Lake City.

Owner and operator of Merriam Grocery Stores, Manti. Member LDS Church, Veteran World War I.

Survivors: widow; daughter, Mrs. Carl (LaRue) Boswell, Concord, California; two grandchildren; brother, Edgar, Manti.

Funeral Wednesday 1 p.m. Manti Center LDS Ward Chapel. Friends call Buchanan Funeral Home Tuesday 7-9 p.m., Wednesday 7 a.m. until services. Burial Manti Cemetery with American Legion military honors.

Lytle Merriam, 70, Succumbs In Manti

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 5, 1966 at 1 p.m. in the Manti Center Ward for Lytle Merriam, 70, who died last Saturday, January 1, 1966 of a heart ailment at his home.

He was born November 6, 1895 at Manti, Utah, a son of Andrew L. Merriam and Mary Eliza Boyington Merriam. He married Iretta Hansen of Ephraim in Salt Lake City on December 26, 1923.

He was a teamster for a number of years and later was manager of the Manti Cheese Company for severla years. He worked for the Christiansen Furniture Company at Ephraim for ten years. Later he was the manager of the Merriam's Grocery for ten years until he retired in 1961 because of ill health.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Manti; daughter, LaRus Boswell and two grandsons, Michael and Timothy Boswell of Concord, California; one brother, Edgar Merriam, Manti.

Mr. Merriam's funeral services were conducted by Center Ward Bishop Elliott R. Braithwaite and were as follows:

Lytle, Edgar and Lloyd Merriam received word Monday of the death of a sister, Mrs. Ruby M. Winn. She passed away in a Price hospital Sunday after a short illness.

She was born in Manti, July 28, 1897, a daughter of Andrew and Eliza Boyington Merriam. She was married to Eden Lorus Winn March 12, 1919, in the Manti LDS Temple.

Mrs. Winn was an active worker in the Primary and was an active member of the Kenilworth Relief Society.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Leola Ludwig and Ray Winn of Hunter, Robert Winn of Salt Lake City and Margie Winn of Kenilworth; by three brohters, Lytle, Edgar and Lloyd Merriam, all of Manti, and by five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday in the Kenilworth Chapel, with graveside services and burial in the Manti Cemetery."

Winn Infant Was Bruied Here Last Monday

Funeral services over the remains of Merriam L., the ten months son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Winn, were held in the North Ward Chaepl last Monday afternoon, bishop's counselor Erastus Peterson presiding. Interment was in the local cemetery. The infant died in West Hiawatha last Thursday following a short illness. Mrs. Winn was formerly, Miss Ruby Merriam of Manti.

Pearl Sanguinetti, 101, of Lodi, died December 29, 2002 at her home. She was born on December 6, 1901, in Alameda and has resided in this area for the past 79 years.

Mrs. Sanguinetti was a homemaker and a memboer of the Grace Presbyterian Church. She was the first president of the Emblem Club. She was one of the founding members of the Lodi Community Concerts. Also the Lodi Art Center; Lodi Republican Women, Lodi Women's Club, and past member of the Campfire Girls.

She enjoyed painting, designing and making her own clothes. She and her late husband enjoyed raising and exhibiting palomino horses.

She is survived by her sisters, Edna thompson, of Modesto, and Lola Miller, of Redding; and brother, Lawrence Atwood, of Newman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Sanguinetti, in December, 1975.l

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Hill officiating. Private entombment will be in the Devotion Mausoleum at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home.

Larry Earl Atwood (7 NOV 1914 - 17 JAN 2009

Larry was born in Modesto in the home his father built. He was a resident of Modesto from 1914 to 1941, attended Modesto High School and graduated in 1932. He learned to fly at age 15 and teaching other pilots at age 21. He worked as an Auto Mechanic from 1932 to 1938 for Higgins Auto Shop in Modesto. In Feb 1938 thru Oct 1939 he owned Atwood Flying School in Modesto and was a Flight Instructor, from 1939 to 1941 he worked at Pathfinder Flying Service in Modesto as an Instructor and Supervisor. From April 1941 to Feb 1944 he lived in Tulare where he was a Flight Commander for Rankin Flying Academy instructing Army Air Cadets in their Primary Phase of Flight Training and was an Instructor's Supervisor. He was honored to serve as one of Tex Rankin's Primary Instructors. Larry served in the US Army Air Forces from April 24,1944 to Janaury 16, 1946 as an Air Transport Command Flight Officer in Long Beach where he ferried Military Aircraft during World War II. Aircrafts flown there were C-45, C-47, B-24, B-25 & B-17. Larry resided in Turlock from 1946 to 1959 where he started Atwood Flying Service. He then moved his family and his business in 1959 to Newman, CA, where he owned and operated Atwood Flying Service until 2004. Larry continued to teach pilots throughout his life and he was still flying planes into his 80's. He was a resident of Mariposa since 2000 where he enjoyed his retirement. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Forces and he enjoyed Flying, Hunting, Fishing and Mining. He was a member of Turlock Moose Lodge #1679.

Larry was preceded in death by his, wife Ethel Fern Atwood (Hurd), his son, Leslie Earl Atwood, 3 brothers Harold, Clarence and Leslie Atwood, and 1 sister Pearl Sanguinetti.

He is survived by his partner Joan Wilkinson of Gustine; daughter, Janice Davis of Riverbank; 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren; sister Edna Thomson (Age 98)of Modesto and Lola Miller (Age 101) of Redding. He will be greatly missed by all!!

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 21st at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman. A visitation will be at 10:00 am with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 22nd at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman.
