Elna J. Pinkham Braithwaite
Today we lost our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and our very best friend: Elna Jessie Pinkham Braithwaite, 83, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 of causes incident to age.
She was born March 30, 1924 in Hooper, to Ray and Jessie Simpson Pinkham. She was the second of five children. She lived her younger years in Hooper working on the family farm. She graduated from Weber High School in 1942, and was very proud of being voted the "sexiest girl" at her 40 year class reunion.
She married Owen Roy "Buck" Hartley in 1942 and from that marriage had three sons, Ron, Dale and Leon. In October 1951, Buck unfortunately passed away leaving Mom with her sons to raise alone. At one time she was working four jobs to make ends meet to support her family: Dixie Shop, WT Grant, Hi Hat and the Rainbow Lounge. She then met her "sweetheart" Neil Braithwaite and they married in February 1956, and from this marriage came Janeil, the "spoiled brat" as commonly referred to by her brothers. Neil stepped into the fatherly role and made her family complete. After she and Neil married, she began bookkeeping for him at Johnson Auto Parts. In 1971 Mom and Dad opened Northern Warehouse and that is where she continued to work until its closing in 2001.
During their time together, they traveled extensively going all over the world and made many friends on their travels. Her favorite trip destinations were Australia and England, and let's not forget Jackpot, NV. She enjoyed gambling (and did quite well at times), she also enjoyed bowling. Mom and Dad bowled for 30 years and she was league secretary for several of them. She also enjoyed horse racing and was an AVID Weber State Basketball fan (she could shake a mean cowbell)!!! Together they enjoyed entertaining and good times with their friends. No one could match the Christmas celebration at her home. She loved the holidays and decorated fully for each one. Mom and Dad would put so much work and effort into Christmas decorating (her the inside, he the out) people would stop to admire the work they put into it. Mom would spend HOURS decorating her Christmas tree, hundreds of perfectly placed ornaments before she was finished, and then she would start on the REST of the house. It was never work to her because it brought her so much joy to see the happiness in ev-eryone's faces. She was active in the North Ogden Civic League, even after she was not involved any longer, she was still an active part of their annual sales of Plum Puddings.
Dad passed away in September of 1997 and left a hole in her heart that no one could fill. She missed him so terribly, now they are together again.
She is survived by her children: Ron (Lois), Dale, Leon, and Janeil (Ted) Heywood; stepchildren, Valerie Dwyer, Doug (deceased), Jane Braithwaite, Debbie (Wayne) Adkison; sister, Lavora (Chris) Bouwhuis; nine grandchildren, four step-grand-children, 14 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchil-dren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, two brothers, one daugh-ter-in-law, one stepson, two grandchildren and her loving dog Cuddles.
We would like to give a special thanks to Mom's very dear friend, Pat Glenn (neighbor Pat) for her unconditional love and support. We would also like to thank Marguerite and the staff at Beehive Homes for their care of her during this difficult time. Also, Applegate Hospice, Deanna, for her caring during her final hours, and Mandy, Carrie and anyone else who so unselfishly gave their time to make her final days comfortable.

Lucy Gertrude Braithwaite
Lucy Gertrude Braithwaite, 92, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at a care center in Star.
No services will be held at this time at her request. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett. Lucy was born Oct. 24, 1909, in Custer County, Okla., to William Henry Kreizenbeck and Anna Marie Elmenhurst Kreizenbeck, the second of seven children. At an early age, Lucy and her family came to Idaho. They homesteaded in the Mountain Home area and later moved to a farm in Letha.
Lucy attended schools in the Mountain Home and Emmett school districts. In November 1929, she married Richard Gerald Bosteder and moved to Roseville, Calif., where Dick was employed with the railroad for a short period of time. Because Lucy was homesick for her close family, they returned to Emmett. Dick and Lucy had two children, Stella and Ronald, and were divorced in 1949. Lucy married John Dewey Upson in August 1951 and they farmed in Letha until moving to Boise in 1964. Jack passed away in September 1969. Later marriages were to Larry Braithwaite and Elton Thornton.
She particularly treasured her lifelong friendships with her younger sister, Bea. Lucy was an extremely independent individual throughout her life, who knew how to keep her Model "A" running, with a bobby pin if necessary, and mowed her own lawn well into her eighties.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brothers, Bob, Fred, and Harold Kreizenbeck; sisters, Margaret, who died in infancy, and Bertha Brogan.
Surviving are her children, Stella Hembree (Leon) of Emmett, and Ronald Bosteder (Ruth) of Richland, Wash.; four grandchildren, David Hembree and LeAnn Hembree Carlton of Boise, Richard Bosteder of Nevada, and Rena Bosteder Ray of Oregon; seven great-grandchildren, Mike, Marisa, Kaylen, Connor, Nick, Mackenzie, and Brianna; and her beloved sister, Bea Averett of Othello, Washington."2(FHL) IGI International Genealogical index, Batch #: 8105801, Sheet #: 90, Source Call #: 1260843, Printout Call #: NONE, Family History Library, 35 N. April 29, 1924 ~ April 8, 2011
Mozelle Whitney Braithwaite
Mozelle Whitney Braithwaite died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 8, 2011. She was born on April 29, 1924 in Mapleton, Utah to Harvey Alonzo Whitney Sr. and Claudia Johnson Whitney. She was the youngest of 13 children. On December 9, 1945 she married her eternal sweetheart Wayne Lester Braithwaite. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Wayne died after 59 years of marriage on October 26, 2005.
Mozelle's passion was to serve others and stay busy. She had a real zeal for life and especially enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she served in many ward and stake callings. She loved doing genealogy work and wrote several family history books for the Braithwaite, Whitney, and Johnson families.
While rearing her children, Mozelle worked as a secretary at several businesses and schools. To fulfill her dream to teach, she received her bachelor's degree in education at age 50 and later a master's degree. She taught in the Weber County school district for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 72. For 15 years after retiring, Mozelle continued to pursue her desire to learn by auditing courses at Weber State University.
