Funeral held For Benjamin Johnson

Funeral services for Benjamin Johnson were held in the Manti North Ward on Thursday of last week, with Bishop Calvin Keller conducting the services. Mr. Johnson died at his home the preceding Sunday after a lingering illness.

Prelude and postlude music for the services was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Easton Moffitt and music on the program included "Oh My Father" and "Sometime We'll Understand," by Mrs. Hulme's Ladies Chorus; and "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine," sung by June Lovell and Mavis Stephenson.

Speaker Anthony E. Stephenson of Delta, a brother-in-law, told of their boyhood times together, how the Johnsons had moved to Nevada among non-Mormons and of their lives together. He said they had been among the first settlers in Delta and that Mr. Johnson had done much work in establishing the irrigation system, making canals and bridges there.

Tennys Madsen of Ephraim spoke of the life hereafter and of how Mr. Johnson had worked to prepare himself for that life. Mr. Madsen is a nephew of Mr. Johnson.

In his closing remarks, Bishop Calvin Keller told how he had enjoyed going to see Mr. Johnson, of the warm hand clasp and the big bright smile which always awaited him on these visits. He said Mr. Johnson had been a faithful worker in the church and in the Temple.

Among those coming to attend the funeral services were many from out of the state, with Idaho, Nevada and California being represented along with his many friends throughout Utah."

Lloyd Wayne "Butch" Andress (25 SEP 1950 - 1 JUN 2010)

Our bright light, Lloyd Wayne Andress "Butch", passed away on June 1, 2010. Butch was born on September 25, 1950 to Nathan "Andy" and Dawna Johnson Andress. Butch grew up in Payson, Utah. He graduated from Payson High School in 1968. He served in the Air Force for the Vietnam War. Butch met and married his sweetheart, Marian Elsberry August 29, 1969. They spent 41 years together and were sealed for time and eternity August 29, 1985.

Butch was a Jack of all trades. He was employed with BYU for almost 30 years. He also laid tile throughout Utah. Though his real passions involved helping his son Kyle work on the hotrods, having his family over for BBQ's, grandkids, and of course NASCAR.

Butch was strong in mind and character. His integrity was unmatched. He carried the weight of the world at times, but always maintained his smile. His heart was made of gold and we will forever cherish our memories with him.

Survivors include; his wife, Marian; his daughter, Deana (Ryan) Puffer; son, Matt (Raina) Andress; daughter, Natalie (Dave) Peterson; and son, Kyle Andress. Sister, Nadine Hickman of Lehi; In-laws, Dean and Rae Lou Elsberry of Santaquin. Also his precious grandchildren; Hadon, Brylee, Hunter, Erika, Jasper, Delaney, Jaida, Marley and baby Makenna.

Thank you Butch for being the person you were. Thank you for leading our way and loving us unconditionally. Watch over us, until one fine day we meet again.
