Wanda Braithwaite
Wanda Mildred Bahr Braithwaite, 92, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died February 5, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Frank Randall, in Idaho Falls.
Born March 23, 1911, at Junction, Utah, to Joseph Hyrum Bahr and Sarah Ann Buckley Bahr, she spent her early years in the Provo area. They moved to Clawson, Idaho, when she was 13 and she graduated from Teton High School in Driggs. She was active in debate and public speaking and won the Choules Oratorical Medal in 1928. She attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She married Alton LaRay Braithwaite September 2, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Salt Lake City until 1938, when they moved to Arco, Idaho, and she worked in the FHA Office. After moving to Idaho Falls in 1948 she worked for the AEC and subcontractors for about 25 years. Alton passed away November 8, 1998. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, including teaching and typing blessings for two patriarchs. She also served a mission with her husband to Tonopah, Nevada, and St. George, Utah. Wanda was always a hard worker, gave many hours of service to her family, and is fondly remembered for her good cooking and hospitality.
Surviving are: Daughter: Donna Rae [Frank] Randall, Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter: Sally Aleen [Ramon] Kohler, St. George, UT; Daughter: Linda [Steven] Fielding, Cedar City, UT; Daughter: LaVern [Curt] Wilkins, Idaho Falls, ID, currently working in Aix en Provence, France; Son: Alton Kent [Hannah] Braithwaite, Lehi, UT; Daughter: Sherri Ann [Kent] Jackson, Anchorage, AK; 43 Grandchildren, 116 Great Grandchildren, seven Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Joseph, Merlin, and Ellis Bahr, three sisters, LaVern Carter, Louise Storrs, and Edith Rammell, two infant grandchildren and one infant great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman 2nd Ward, 12448 North 5th East, Idaho Falls, with Bishop David Keck officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1920 East 17th Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83404 or Primary Children's Medical Center, P. O. Box 58249, Salt Lake City, UT 84158-0249. - (Clara) Donna Barton[0] Bell died March 15, 2000 at her daughter's home in Tremonton, Utah.Donna was born March 29, 1912 in the Barton[0] cabin in Bluff, Utah, to Joseph Franklin Barton[0], Jr. and Hattie Ellen Redd.
Both sets of her grandparents came through "Hole in the Rock" to settle Bluff. She married Sheldon Archie Bell Sept. 21, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1976.
She graduated from Blanding High School in three years and attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake, and graduated from Utah State University (1937). She and her husband moved to Panaca, Nevada, after college and then lived on the Navajo Indian Reservation for six years.
Donna lived in Middletown, California, for many years and lived in Tremonton for the past 18 years.
She worked as office manager for a doctor's office and as the Lake County Fair Board secretary in California. She served in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Relief Society President.
Donna was active in PTAs, was secretary of the Middletown Luncheon Club and a member of the local and state Cow Bell's Association in California.
Donna had a keen mind and was very interested in current events and literature, nature and art. Interests included teaching folk and square dancing, participating in school and community plays, giving dramatic readings, oil painting, studying nature and being with her family.
Donna is remembered for her caring and compassion for others, her unselfishness, her enthusiasm and interest in life, her independence, her wit, her strong conscience, her bravery, her determination to follow through on assignments, and for always doing a task extremely well.
Her family's well-being was of greatest importance to her, and they will miss her lively conversations and concern for each of them.
She is survived by daughters, Judith (Walter) Hardester, Tremonton, Utah; Diane (Julio) Robles, Auburn, California; nine grandchildren: Julie (Kelly) Harris, Rebecca (Jim) Farley, both of Tremonton; Greg (Kathy) Hardester, San Jose, California; Grant (Stacey) Hardester, Ross (Emily) Hardester, Santa Rosa, CA; Scott (Alicia) Howlett, Folsom, CA; Steve (LeAnn) Howlett, Bakersfield, CA; David and Annie Robles, Auburn, CA; and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Roma Poynor of Illinois.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Katie Howlett; son-in-law, Phil Howlett; brothers Sterling, Wesley, and Harold[0] Barton[0].
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 No. 300 E. with Bishop Rodney Merrell conducting.
Friends may call Sunday, March 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. and Monday from 9:15-10:30 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 No. 100 E. Tremonton. Graveside services and burial will be Saturday, March 25, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Middletown Cemetery in Middletown, CA.

Funeral Rites Held For Manti Man
Funeral services for Charles Braithwaite, 81, were held in the Manti Center Ward on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Bishop Morgan Dyreng conducting. Mr. Braithwaite died Friday at 8 p.m. in a Mayfield rest home of natural causes.
He was born September 29, 1880 in Manti to William and Elizabeth Francis Braithwaite. He married Emma Rosalia Molter on October 14, 1903 in the Manti Temple. She died in August 1945. Mr. Braithwaite had been a resident of Manti all of his life. He was a retired sheep and ranch worker.
Survivors include five sons and two daughters: Charles M. Braithwaite, Torrance, California; B. Claude Braithwaite, Jean M. Braithwaite and Mrs. Elizabeth Nielson, all of Manti; Homer R. Braithwaite, El Paso, Texas; Dick M. Braithwaite, Logan; Mrs. Grant (Anona) Steck, Tooele; 26 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother and five sisters: Robert F. Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Kate L. Thueson, Mrs. Martha Richey, Mrs. Mary Eckman, Tooele; Mrs. George H. (Ruby) Cheever, Mrs. Rebecca Johnson, Payson.
Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Eunice Garge with other musical selections by a vocal trio composed of Mrs. H. J. Davidson, Mrs. Rodney Miller and Mrs. Roy Hatch who sang "The Lord's Prayer." A vocal duet by Albert and Lorna Fallows who sang "God So Loved The World" and "If We Could See Beyond Today."
Mrs. Eunice Garbe accompanied all musical renditions at the services.
Prayer in the home was by Robert F. Braithwaite, a brother, with prayers in the services by Charles G. Braithwaite and William McFarlane.
Speakers were George A. Cheever, Ray P. Lund, Melroy Kjar and Bishop Cyreng.
Burial was in the Manti City Cemetery with the grave being dedicated by Dick Braithwaite, a son."9GENMAYLE.com ONLINE, 2009.

Services Held For Emma Braithwaite
Funeral services for Emma Molter Braithwaite, who died at her home in Manti on August 30, 1945, was held Mondy afternoon in the Center Ward Chapel. Bishop Morris Pack had charge of the following services:
Opening son, "In The Time Of Roses" by the Singing Mothers; prayer, William Nieslon; speakers were A. H. Henrie, Alma Peterson and Ray P. Lund; vocal solo, Sam Parry; duet, Mrs. Ruby Nielson and Mrs. Venice Braithwaite; prayer, James Anderson.
Interment was iin the Manti City Cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Charles G. Braithwaite.
Emma Molter Braithwaite was born in Manti on June 21, 1883, the daughter of Henry A. and Mary Miller Molter. On October 14, 1945, she was married in the Manti Temple to Charles Braithwaite. Eight children were born to this couple, seven of whom are still living and all of whom were present at their mother's funeral. they are Morris Braithwaite of Compton, California; Claude Braithwaite, Roswell, New Mexico; Homer, Jean, Dick and Anona Braithwaite and Mrs. Beth Nielson, all of Manti.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Torkeldson and Mrs. Mable Trottier both of Salt Lake City; one half-sister, Ruth Toms, and two half-brothers, Lt. A. H. Lois Braithwaite, the thirty days old infant girl of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Braithwaite was buried in the local cemetery Monday afternoon following short but impressive service held at the Braithwaite home at 4 o'clock.
The little infant which passed away quite suddenly Sunday morning on the day she was thirty days old, has not seemed to thrive well since birth."

Manti Man Laid To Rest On Wednesday
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 15, 1971 at 1 p.m. in the Manti Center Ward for Byron Claude Braithwaite, 62, who passed away on Friday, December 10, 1971 at his home in Manti of natural causes.
He was born June 26, 1909 in Manti, a son of Charles and Emma R. Molter Braithwaite. He married Ruth Curtis on May 4, 1931 in Manti. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 31, 1946. Mrs. Braithwaite passed away on May 31, 1971.
Mr. Braithwaite was the former owner of the Manti Home Supply. He had also served as district manager for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. At the time of his death, he was a partner in the Assoicated Finance Company in Manti.
On February 28, 1916, he was named as businessman of the year. He, along with Gail Jensen, was instrumental in locating Pacific Trail Sportswear in Manti. He was a member and officer of MIBA.
He was also finance chairman for the Mormon Miracle Pageant. He had been a member and officer of the Jaycee and Lions Clubs.
Active in the LDS Church, he served as bishop of the Manti Ceneter Ward for 12 years and at the time of the Sanpete South Stake High Council.
Mr. Braithwaite served as beautification chairman for Manti. That year the city won national acclaim.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Joann) Wegkamp, Beltsville, Maryland; Mrs. Lloyd (Karen) Vaugh, Manti; Mrs. Earl (Verna) Garrett, Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Mrs. Grant (Anona) Steck, Tooele; Mrs. Robert (Beth) Munk, Manti; brothers, Charles M. (Bud), Torrance, California; Homer R. (Dude), Manti; Dick M., Lakewood, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 1971 in the Manti Center Ward for Mrs. Ruth Braithwaite, 59, who passed away Sunday, May 30, 1971 in a Provo hospital of natural causes.
Friends may call at the Buchanan Mortuary Thursday prior to services.
She was born February 28, 1912 in Aurora Sevier County, to Enos and Martha Ann Murphy Curtis. She married B. Claude Braithwaite on May 4, 1931. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mrs. Braithwaite had served as president of the MIA and Relief Society organizations, as well as being a member of the Relief Society Singing Mothers.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Mrs. Karen Vaughn, Manti; Mrs. Earl (Verna) Garrett, Irving, Texas; Mrs. Larry (Joann) Wegkamp, Amhust, Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren; one great- grandchild; brothers and sisters, Doyle Curtis, Mrs. Lera Crane, Salina; Marvin Curtis, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Vernell Alverson, Lark; Ellwood Curtis, Bountiful.
Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery.
