RBFO Goals

Main Objective and Major Activities of the RBFO

The main objective of the RBFO is to "educate family members and others of the history and family traditions within the genealogical lines of the membership." At the present time the RBFO is engaged in four major activities that support this objective:
     1) It is conducting genealogical research on the early (pre-1700) Broughs of the British Isles and their related families and genealogical lineages.
     2) It is documenting the descendants of various Brough families of the British Isles who reside today throughout the world--and especially in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Australia and New Zealand. Part of this effort is manifest through the sponsoring and holding of International Brough Reunions.
     3) It is extracting and submitting the births, christenings, marriages and deaths of all Broughs known to have resided in the British Isles before 1900 for eventual entry into the computerized database of New Family Search of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.
     4) It is trying to find and maintain contact with descendants of the Broughs of the British Isles (and particularly those related to Richard Brough and Mary Horleston of England) who presently live in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and elsewhere around the world.

Specific Goals of the RBFO during 2011 through 2015

2011-2014: Continue genealogical and historical research on Brough-related ancestors and descendants in North America, Europe, Australia and the Pacific Islands.

2013: Hold an International Brough Reunion in England, United Kingdom, in June 2013.

2015: Hold an International Brough Reunion in Utah, United States, in August 2015.
