The 1680 marriage of "Robertum Brough" and "Janam Hinckley" is listed in the parish register of St. Nicholas, Mavesyn Ridware, Staffordshire (FHL Book #: 942.46, B4pr, v.104, page 70), which states that they were married on 27 January 1680/1681 and that "Robertum Brough" was of the parish of "Alveton".  Geographical Note:  The online 1831 book, "A Topographical Dictionary of England..." by Samuel Lewis (Volume 1), states the following about Alveton: "Alveton, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of Totmonslow, county of Stafford, 4-1/2 miles (E. by S.) from Cheadle, comprising the chapelry of Cotton, and the townships of Denston and Farley. ...The church, dedicated to St. Peter, displays a mixture of the Norman and modern styles of architecture."

The 1684 marriage of "Robert Brough" and "Margaret Rowley" is listed in the Bishop's Transcript for St. Matthew, Walsall, Staffordshire (FHL Film # 421609), which states that they were married on 31 March 1684.

The burial of "Robertus Brough" is listed in the parish register of St. Nicholas, Mavesyn Ridware, Staffordshire (FHL Book #: 942.46, B4pr, V.104, page 138), which states that he was buried on 7 December 1727 and that he was "of Blithbury".

"Robert Brough" is mentioned as living in the 1681 Will of "Thomas Brough", which was written on 20 February 1680/1681 and probated on 27 June 1698 (see: FHL Film # 173034).  The Will states that Thomas Brough was a "yeoman" of "Bently hurst in the parish" of Mavesyn Ridware in Staffordshire; that Thomas Brough's home was "Bently hurst house"; and that "for the love and affection which I...Thomas Brough doe beare unto Robert Brough son of Richard Brough of Cotton in the said county of Stafford yeoman now residing with me" that he (Thomas Brough) gives his "personal" property and "real estate" to Robert Brough following the death of Thomas Brough and "Truth my now said wife".

The 1684 marriage of "Robert Brough" and "Margaret Rowley" is listed in the Bishop's Transcript for St. Matthew, Walsall, Staffordshire (FHL Film # 421609), which states that they were married on 31 March 1684.

The burial of "Margaretta Brough" is listed in the parish register of St. Nicholas, Mavesyn Ridware, Staffordshire (FHL Book #: 942.46, B4pr, V.104, page 138), which states that she was buried on 17 December 1727, and that she was "of Blithbury".

The burial of "Jana Brough" is listed in the parish register of St. Nicholas, Mavesyn Ridware, Staffordshire (FHL Book #: 942.46, B4pr, v.104, page 76), which states that she was buried on 14 January 1681/1682.  The text of her burial reads as follows: "Janan Brough Sepulta first decimo quaito die January Anno Praedicto Affidavit de Sepultura praedictae Janae Brough & trium infantium non Baptizatarum, guas uno partu ex utero pleno nupernina enixa est illa ipsa Jana Rectori allatum die decimo sexto ejusdem mensis".  A Latin translation of her burial text is as follows: "Jana Brough having been buried first quarter fourteenth day January the predicted year pledged about the burial the predicted Jana Brough and of three infants not baptized one birth from either full earnest is that Jana herself having been reported to the guide by the sixteenth day of the same month".

Geographical Note:  "Loughborough" was described in 1887 by John Bartholomew in his "Gazetteer of the British Isles" as follows: "Loughborough, market town, par., and township, Leicestershire, on Loughborough Canal, 10½ miles NW. of Leicester and 115 miles from London by rail - township, pop. 14,681; town and par., 5820 ac., pop. 14,803; P.O., T.O., 4 Banks, 3 newspapers. Market-day, Thursday. Loughborough is the second town, in point of size, in the co.; it has a grammar school founded in 1495. The principal industry is the mf r. of all kinds of hosiery; there is a large bell foundry; there are also engineering and machine works, dyeworks, and brick-works; the coal trade is extensive." The christening of "Thomas Brough" is listed in the parish register of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire (FHL Film # 1526193, Item #16), which states that he was christened on 1 February 1707/1708  in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, as the son of "Thomas Brough and his wife [of] Loxly [Loxley, Staffordshire]".

Geographical Note:  "Loxley" was described in 1870-1872 by John Marius Wilson in his "Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales" as follows: Loxley, a liberty in Uttoxeter parish, Stafford; 2½ miles SW of Uttoxeter. Real property, £2,706. The manor, with Loxley Hall, belongs to the Kynnersley family. Robin Hood is said to have been a native, and to have had here one of his forest haunts." Relationship Note:  It is possible that the "Thomas Brough" who was christened in 1707 in Uttoxeter may have been the same "Thomas Brough" who married Amey Chadwick in 1727 in Nottingham.  This is based on an extensive radius search of available records and recognized family patronymics.  However, the travel distance between Uttoxeter and Nottingham is about 37 miles.  Further research needs to be conducted into this matter.

"Octavius Bray was born 1836 in Wales. His family came to America when he was five on the Barque Baron, arriving in New York harbor 5 May 1842. He worked with his Father and siblings on the B&O railroad line along the Cumberland Road between Maryland and Wheeling, WV. Octavius served as a Quarter Master Sgt. in the Civil War, 4th West Virginia Cavalry, Company A. He married Amelia Harris in Wheeling WV 15 Dec 1856. They had nine children. Amelia died when many of the children were still young, and most of the children were raised by other family members. Octavius ended up living in Pittsburgh, PA and married again, but it did not last. He then ended up living with one of his daughters and died in Pittsburgh 1921."  (Source: Ward R. The marriage was witnessed by Samuel Poulson and John Martin.

In the 1841 Census, "James Johnson" is listed as being 40 years old (born about 1797-1801), born in Staffordshire, working as a "Collier", and residing with his apparent wife, Elizabeth (age 40), and their five apparent children (Maria--age 15, Frances--age 13, George--age 10, Eliza--age 7, and Alice--age 1), at: Furnace Road, Lane End, Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
