Research Note from the online FHL Library Sources:  [The] Imperial Gazetteer is a bit unclear concerning the relationship between Blurton, Dresden and Redbank. It is stated that Dresden was a chapelry in the parish of Blurton. At one time, however, Blurton was a chapelry in the parish of Trentham. Imperial Gazetteer also states that Blurton united with Redbank, but Imperial makes no mention of a Redbank in the county of Staffordshire (there is a Redbank in Lancashire). The parish registers suggest that Dresden became a parish ca. 1867, although Bartholomew's states that Dresden is an ecclesiastical district.

Reference Note:  On 19 October 2006, Andrew Steven Brough of Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, wrote the following email to the RBFO: "[I] was very interested by your [RBFO web]site.  My father is Richard John Brough (hence [the] reason I came across [your web]site) and I am Andrew Steven Brough.  We run a manufacturing business in central Birmingham, England (established since 1861).  We are very proud of our heritage.  Look at our website...for [further] information...."  The website is "http://www.gandsbrough.co.uk/" and contains information about the company "G & S Brough Ltd, Washers and Gaskets" which was "established [in] 1861".  According to the company's website: "G & S Brough Ltd was established in 1861 by George and Sam[uel] Brough, initially as a boot manufacturer, but it was only after the Great War that washers, at that time in mainly leather and fibre, became an integral part of the company's production.  1951 saw the move from Camden Street, Hockley to larger premises in Commercial Street.  2004 saw a further move across the city to an even larger factory in Highgate.  G & S Brough has always been a family-run business and has become one of the largest manufacturers of non-metallic washers in the United Kingdom.  G & S Brough are established manufacturers of washers, gaskets, joints and hydraulic leathers, supplying to a broad spectrum of industries for nearly 150 years.  Washers of any size are produced from all materials and gaskets of any shape from all non-metallic materials."  According to the 1884 edition of "Kelly's Directory of Birmingham, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire, 1884", page 359: "Brough, George and Samuel, boot makers [were located at] 191 & 193 Camben street...."  Today (2006), the company is located at: 28-40 Leopold Street, Highgate, Birmingham, B12 OUR, England, United Kingdom (telephone: 0121-440-4406).

In 2006, the RBFO obtained a copy of the marriage of Edwin Brough and Clara Brunt from England, which stated that they were married by Banns on 10 October 1904 at St. Paul's church in Quarnford, Staffordshire; that Edwin Brough was 30 years old (born about 1874), a Bachelor and Farmer of Wetton, and that his father was Thomas Brough, a Farmer; and that Clara Brunt was 23 years old (born about 1881), a Spinster of New Cottage, Quarnford, and that her father was James Brunt, a Farmer.  The marriage was witnessed by James Brunt and Sarah Brough.

The christening of "William Brough" is listed in the parish register of St. Matthews, Meerbrook, Staffordshire, England (FHL Film # 1471147, Item #30), which states that he was christened on 6 December 1863 at St. Matthews, Meerbrook, and that his parents were "Thomas and Sarah Brough [of] Hazelwood" and that Thomas Brough was a "Farmer".

In March 2013, James H. The RBFO obtained a copy of the birth certificate of Elizabeth Grindey from England, which stated that she was born on 24 August 1885 at Boosley Grange, Fawfieldhead, Staffordshire, and that her father was George Grindey, a Farmer, and her mother was "Ann Grindey formerly Lomas".

In March 2013, James H. In 2006, the RBFO obtained a copy of the marriage certificate of William Brough and Elizabeth Grindey from England, which stated that they were married by Banns on 2 May 1906 in St. Matthews church, Meerbrook (Leek), Staffordshire; that William Brough was 42 years old (born about 1864), a Bachelor and Farmer of Bent Head, and that his father was Thomas Brough, a Farmer; and that Elizabeth Grindey was 20 years old (born about 1886), a Spinster of Bent Head, and that her father was George Grindey, a Farmer.  The marriage was witnessed by Edwin Brough and Sarah Brough.
