The marriage of Thomas Brough and Mary Embleton is listed in the parish register of Long Benton, Northumberland (FHL Film # 1469111, Item #5), which states that they were married by Banns on 18 October 1813 at St. Bartholomew's in Long Benton, that they were "Both of this Parish" and that Mary Embleton was married "with consent of [her] Parents". The marriage was witnessed by Ann Emblton and Thos. Thompson.
Research Note:
In July 2015, BFO researchers could not locate an entry for Thomas Brough who married Mary Embleton in the 1841, 1851 or 1861 Census. Therefore, Thomas Brough may have died prior to 1841. Interestingly, the online FreeBMD lists a "Thomas Brough" whose death was registered in July-September 1838 in South Shields district, Durham--which is located about eleven travel miles from Longbenton, Northumberland. This death certificate should be ordered from the GRO.Research Note:

Very little is known about Thomas: we know he married a Mary Embleton in 1813 and had a son (William) shortly afterwards. He was reported to have been a miller at that time and when William was christened in Long Benton, Northumberland, the family's residence was given as "Redhouse"; this probably refers to Benton Park in the parish, which was often referred to in this way.
The childhood of William (Thomas's son) was reported by William to his son Joshua Jordan Brough to have been spent in the Longbenton/Killingworth area. So he must have been there until circa 1825 at least. Presumably, so was his father Thomas, but there are no records (burials, births) to confirm this known as yet.
Notes:
Thomas may have been a non-conformist and his son William Brough had a great interest in theology (as reported by William's son Joshua Jordan Brough to his son Frank William Brough in a written family history in 1947).
Brough is a relatively uncommon name in Northumberland in the late 18th and early 19th century. However, Long Benton was a small village just outside Newcastle-on-Tyne (it is now entirely within it) and, in 1810, a large proportion of Northumberland folk lived in Newcastle. Newcastle was on the southern boundary of Northumberland; indeed, south of the river Tyne, we find Sunderland and South Shields, significant Durham settlements in 1813, and now contiguous developments with Newcastle. There are several Thomas Broughs born in Durham in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, However, no link between Thomas and any of these families has yet been found.
In Jan 1800, a marriage license was granted for a Margaret Brough to marry a George Dennis. Significantly, Margaret was described as being from the neighbouring parish of Longbenton. Surety was provided by a Thomas Brough, a colliery viewer, of Tynemouth, Northumberland. It is maybe unlikely that this is this Thomas Brough (the transition from colliery viewer to miller seems unlikely), but maybe the Thomas Brough in Tynemouth was that father of the Thomas Brough who married in Longbenton in 1813? Under investigation.
There is a possible death in Tynemouth (the registration district for Long Benton) in 1859, but no further details are yet available.
The christening of Mary Embleton is listed in the FamilySearch (via FHL Films # 94975 and 991788), which states that she was christened on 1 December 1793 in Shilbottle, Northumberland, and that her parents were John Emblton and Mary.
Research Note: The travel distance from Shilbottle (where Mary Embleton was christened) southward to Longbenton (where Mary Embleton was married) is about 31 miles.

The following information comes from the website: http://www.scholarshome.org.uk/ancestry/gen/ind_423.html
Very little is known about Mary, besides her marriage and the birth of her son William. The marriage was 'with consent of parents'; as Thomas was described as a Miller, it is likely he was over 21 and Mary was not. She would thus have been at least 12 and less than 21. As most aged 19 or 20 would probably conveniently forget their exact age, we might assume she was 16 to 18, making her year of birth about 1796, with absolute earliest and latest DOBs 19/10/1792 and 18/10/1801.
Notes
We do not know where Mary was from. In Northumberland, there are possibilities in Embleton, Alnwick, Northumberland, but this is about 30 miles from Longbenton, and is thus not a strong candidate identification, even though it is in the same county. Mary may well have come from Durham (a more likely origin for her husband Thomas too): there are candidates in Sunderland (about 14 miles from Long Benton) and South Shields (about 8 miles from Long Benton); both are just south of the river Tyne on which Newcastle-on-Tyne stands.Mary Embleton is listed in New FamilySearch, PID#: 9KCC-9GG.

Geographical Note: The travel distance between Rocester, Staffordshire--where John Brough was christened, and Leek, Staffordshire--where John Brough was buried, is just under 20 miles.
Research Note: It was once suggested that the John Brough who married Elizabeth Taylor in Leek in 1765 was the same John Brough who was christened in Cheddleton on 23 July 1732. However, this suggestion is not accepted by the RBFO, as the IGI (via LDS Patron submission) states that the John Brough who was christened in Cheddleton on 23 July 1732 was the son of John Brough and Dorothy Wood, and that this John Brough married a "Margaret"--not an Elizabeth--and that John and Margaret Brough had their first three children christened in Cheddleton between 1760-1765, and their last two children in Bradley In The Moors between 1769 and 1773.

Research Note: The LDS Ancestral File mistakeningly links John Brough (chr. 1726) to parents John Brough (chr. 1692) and Anne Hitchcock, and to grandparents John Brough (chr. 1662/1663) and Sarah. While the grandparent connection is correct, John Brough's (chr. 1726) actual parents (based on parish records, occupational similarities and durational analysis of family descendants) were William Brough (chr. 1696) and Sarah Renshaw. William Brough (chr. 1696) and John Brough (chr. 1692) were brothers, whose parents were John Brough (chr. 1662/1663) and Sarah. The above mentioned Ancestral File mistake possibly happened because John Brough (chr. 1692) also had a son named John Brough, who was christened in 1722.
