The marriage of "Eric B. Hughes" and "Florence M. A. Curtois" is listed in the online FreeBMD, which states that their marriage was registered in April-June 1915 in Edmonton district, Middlesex, England.

In August 2013, Janice Hughes of England informed the BFO of the following: "Eric Brough Hughes was a talented engineer and made working steam models from scratch - every, screw, bolt etc. We have inherited a couple of his large steam trains and model steam engines, he had several articles printed in 'The Model Engineer' . I also have a very old photo of him taken in the US circa 1920 ? I wonder now if he went there visiting some of his relatives or maybe he too
considered emigrating? I think it was taken in a logging area."

The christening of Mary Brough is listed in the IGI (via the LDS Extraction Program, FHL Film # 426517), and is listed in the parish register of St. Luke, Cannock (FHL Film # 1040834, Item #2), which states that she was christened on 6 February 1820 as the daughter of Mark and Anne Brough of "Hatherton" and that Mark Brough was a Labourer.

In the 1841 Census, Mary Brough is listed as being about 20 years old (born about 1821), born in Staffordshire, and residing with her parents, Mark and Ann Brough, in Stretton, Staffordshire.

In the 1851 Census, Mary (Brough) Smith is listed as being about 31 years old (born about 1820), born in Cannock, Staffordshire, married and residing wih her husband, Goerge Smith, and three of their children in Bushbury, Staffordshire.  Also, Mary's brother, Mark Brough (age 13), is residing with her in her home in Bushbury.

Harriet Poole

The christening of "Harriet Pool" is listed in the parish register of Stretton (FHL Film # 1040883), which states that she was christened on 25 June 1828 as "Harriet [the] daughter [of] George and Mary Pool [of] Stretton" and that George Pool was a was a "Labourer".  Also, Harriet Poole is listed in New Family Search, PI#: MDN3-387.

The death of Harriet (Brough) is listed in the online FreeBMD, which states that her death was registered in January-March 1896 in the district of Cannock, Staffordshire, and that she died when he was 67 years old (born about 1829).

The father of Harriet Poole was George Poole.  For example, in her marriage to Edward Brough (in 1855), Harriet Poole states that she was of "full age" and a Spinster of Penkridge and that her father was George Poole, a Labourer.  

In the 1861 Census, Harriet (Brough) is listed as being about 32 years old (born about 1829), born in Stretton, Staffordshire, married and residing with her husband, Edward Brough, and their three children, in Stafford Road, Coven Heath, Bushbury, Staffordshire.

The marriage of Edward Brough and Harriett Poole is listed in the parish register of Penkridge (FHL Film # 1040784), which states that they were married by Banns on 23 July 1855 and that Edward Brough was of "full age" and a Bachelor and Labourer of Penkridge, and that his father was Mark Brough, a Labourer; and Harriett Poole was of "full age" and a Spinster of Penkridge, and that her father was George Poole, a Labourer.  The marriage was witnessed by William Cheadle and Emma Brough.

Henry James Poole

The christening of Henry James Poole is listed in the Bishop's Transcript of Penkridge (FHL Film # 435826), which states that he was the son of Harriett Poole on Congreve, a "single woman".

The burial of Henry Poole is listed in the Bishop's Transcript of Penkridge (FHL Film # 435826), which states that he was buried on 8 February 1850, and that he was an "infant" of "Penkride Boosmore".


William Pool

The christening of William Pool is listed in the parish register of Penkridge (FHL Film # 1040783, Item #4), which states that William Pool was christened on 27 November 1853 as the "son of Harriett Pool" who was living at the "Deanery Buildings" in Penkridge, Staffordshire.

The 1863 birth certificate of "Harriet Brough" was obtained from the GRO in England by the Brough Family Organization in October 2025, and states that she was born on 19 March 1863 in "Wobaston Lane" in "Bushbury" in Brewood district, Penkridge (Registrar's District), Staffordshire, England, and that her parents were "Edward Brough" a "Cowman" and "Harriet Brough formerly Pool".

Alfred Clowes

The birth of Alfred Clowes is listed in the online FreeBMD.

In February 2009, Geoffrey Webb of Australia informed the RBFO of the following:  "Hettie Violet Brough was born at Travellers Rest, Bottom House, Ipstones, Staffordshire, on 8 September 1909.  In the June 1934 quarter she married Alfred Clowes (9 December 1904 - June 1983) at Leek.  The couple appear to have had just one child, Marjorie Clowes, who was born in May 1937 at Leek.  Hettie died in the December quarter of 1982.  Alfred was the son of Alfred and Hannah Clowes nee Phillips.  Hettie was the daughter of Edwin and Clara Brough nee Brunt."

In February 2009, Geoffrey Webb of Australia informed the RBFO of the following:  "Hettie Violet Brough was born at Travellers Rest, Bottom House, Ipstones, Staffordshire, on 8 September 1909.  In the June 1934 quarter she married Alfred Clowes (9 December 1904 - June 1983) at Leek.  The couple appear to have had just one child, Marjorie Clowes, who was born in May 1937 at Leek.  Hettie died in the December quarter of 1982.  Alfred was the son of Alfred and Hannah Clowes nee Phillips.  Hettie was the daughter of Edwin and Clara Brough nee Brunt."

In February 2009, Geoff Webb of Australia obtained a copy of the marriage certificate (from England) of Alfred Clowes and Hettie Brough, which stated that: "Hettie Brough married Alfred Clowes on 5 May 1934 at the Mount Pleasant Methodist Chapel in Leek. Witnesses were John Clowes, Mary Clowes and E.G. (assumedly Edwin Graham) Brough."
