A family source states that "Frank Aylmer Brough was born at Leek (Grosvenor Street) on 27th December 1912 - he always said that it was a lucky year to be born as he was too young for the First World War and too old for the second. During the war [World War II] he worked as a munitions worker making bombs. A relative said that he had TB as a child but this was never mentioned to his children. It may however explain why he worked all of his life as a poorly paid gardener - working in the fresh air all the time. He died on 12th August 1980."
