Also, in February 2004, the RBFO Research Committee located this family in the 1841 British Census for Buglawton, Cheshire, FHL Film # 241249; and in the 1851 British Census for Buglawton, Cheshire, FHL Film # 87152, Folio 197.
The christening of Elizabeth Kirk was found in the LDS Ordinance Index (via the LDS Extraction Program of Bishops Transcripts for St. Michael).
560. Samuel Brough
Research Note: Samuel Brough (chr.1822) could be the "Samuel Brough" (whose father was also Samuel Brough) who married Ann Stubbs on 27 Dec 1862 in Wolstanton, Staffordshire. More research on this possibility needs to be conducted. See FHL Film # 1517618.

The death and burial of James Brough is listed in the Biddulph Parish Register (FHL Film # 1278828, Item 17), which states that his parents were Samuel Brough--a shoemaker--and Elizabeth "his wife", who were living at Dane-in-Shaw Hill, and that James died of typhoid fever at the age of 13 years old.

The death and burial of Thomas Brough is listed in the Biddulph Parish Register (FHL Film # 1278828, Item 18), which states that his parents were Samuel Brough--a shoemaker--and Elizabeth "his wife", who were living at "Dainenshaw Bank, Buglawton, and that Thomas died of consumption at the age of 23 years old.

414. Ralph Brough (Braff or Broff)
Ralph Brough was 67 years of age when he was buried in 1839, according to Gnosall Parish Burial Record (FHL Film # 1470995, p.149). Also, Ralph Brough is not listed with his wife and children in the 1841 Census.
In 1922, Samuel Richard Brough submitted LDS ordinance (baptismal) work for Ralph Brough, stating at the time that Ralph was born "about 1772" in "Haughton, Staffordshire, England." Haughton is only a short distance--2.8 miles--from Gnosall.
According to the 1841 British Census, Elizabeth (Kerby) Brough was "not" born in the county of Staffordshire, England, and was a "68" year-old "widow" living in "Auldmore, Gnosall" in 1841 with her sons Thomas and John. (Besides the on-line 1841 Census, see FHL Film #474612, p.22.) Also, Elizabeth (Kerby) Brough was about "78" years old at the time of her death/burial in 1847 (Gnosall Parish Burials, FHL Film # 1470995, p.192).

The 1851 British Census lists Mary Brough has being born in "Gnosall". However, Mary's christening took place in Haughton--which is only a short distance (2.8 miles) from Gnosall.

In the 1851 Census, Mary is listed as being about 72 year old (born about 1779) and living with her daughter-in-law, Hannah (wife of the then deceased Thomas Brough), in New Bent, Biddulph, Staffordshire.

In the 1841 Census, "Thos Brough" is listed as being about 40 years old (born about 1801), a "Farmer" and living with his wife, "Hanh" (also about age 40) in New Bent, Biddulph, Staffordshire.
The christening of Hannah Shufflebottom is listed in the IGI (via the LDS Extraction Program).
In the 1851 Census, Hannah is listed as being about 55 years old (born about 1796), born in Rushton, Staffordshire, a "Widow" (after the murder of her husband in 1845), a "retired farmer", and living in New Bent, Biddulph, Staffordshire.

John Brough was tried and hanged for the murder of his elder brother Thomas Brough on 5 April 1845 at Stafford Goal.

Research Note: A birth or christening for Henry Bradbury could not be found in the Biddulph Parish Register.
Cornelius Leight has a Collier and Road Labourer. The 1841 Census lists him as living near The Forge, Biddulph; the 1851 Census lists him as living in Machine House, Biddulph. His cause of death was "old age."
633. John Leigh (Lees)
This christening is listed in FHL Film # 1278828, and states that at the time of this christening, John's parents were living at "Rough Hurst" and his father was a Labourer.
